awesome
- Pros: this thing puts my power hungry hp laptop to shame. it boots faster and speeds along on just about anything. the camera, wifi, and bluetooth being toggled on and off is different at first but you get used to it. i think this could easily give a desktop a run for its money. runs very cool fan is running constantly but on the low setting, very quiet. good video and very surprised by the audio quality of this, need head phones to really experience it but not all bad. no bloat ware!!!! a few programs that are rather useful and office 07 trial but its easy to fix just uninstall :)
- Cons: the fn and ctrl keys are switched but once you get used to it its not a problem not really a con. some keys are smaller but not as bad as you would think. shift key is shorter than im used to and keep hitting the up arrow when trying to hit shift. one stuck pixel but its off to the side so its not that big a deal still gets annoying.
- Other Thoughts: over all im impessed a little power house, even with the gig it comes with. was thinkin about puttin a ssd in this thing and really makin it go, but i think that will be after the warranty is up

Excellent little computer
- Pros: wonderful little laptop. Running kdemod Arch Linux install. Excellent little beast. Upgraded RAM to 2GB and swapped hard drive out for a 500GB 5400 RPM model. I know, this will lower the amount of time, but really, what's the difference between ~9 hours and ~8 hours? massive space and a little rocket! Must buy, especially if you run any Linux distro!!!
hdparm -Tt timing cached reads: 862 MB in 2.00 seconds = 430.89 MB/sec timing buffered disk reads: 234 MB in 3.01 seconds = 77.70 MB/sec
timing fluxuates slightly higher and/or lower but has yet to dip below 400/70 or go above 450/82.
Can't wait to get a 3G dongle for this bad thing. Starting to wonder if one could be mounted in vehicle console for GPS/3G/suto diagnostics/audio player.
uvcvideo in the rc.conf file allows webcam to work nicely with Skype and Cheese programs.
- Cons: as all Linux buffs know '/' and '.' keys are a must when working from CLI. Well, be forwarned that these keys are seriously condensed to a VERY minimal size! I'm constantly hitting the / key when going to the . or the Shift key when going for the /. It can be VERY irritating at times! Also, when first starting up the machine, make sure to turn on wifi and bluetooth before booting from grub/LILO. If not, you might run into problems if hal isn't set up to automagically insert these modules into the kernel after boot.
Also, as others have said before me, the Fn and ctrl keys on the left side are SWAPPED! Yet another most irritating thing about this condensed keyboard! But there is one thing that, although not used often, is still handy; the ~/` key is in the proper place beside the 1/! key. This is one thing that I find most irritating on other keyboards... they place the ~ key near the spacebar or another VERY odd spot.
- Other Thoughts: Although the fan spins constantly at (i'm assuming) high speed, it's not cooling all that great. temp monitor is reading about 50C norm idle. This could be a bad thing, or for some reason my system not being cooled properly internally. Not sure, TBH, but still it never goes above 55C under heavy load, so not too worried about it. The fan noise, for a netbook, can become a bit annoying, especially in a quiet room or library.
If you are thinking of using this book to write scripts or cron jobs or any other type of keyboard work that will take the odd sized keys, you might want to think about getting a small USB keyboard for mobile desk work. The Hacker keyboard I have had around for ages seems to fit the bill perfectly, especially without those pesky, unused WinBlowz keys! Think about investing in one!
All in all, 5 eggs!!! took one week to deliver to APO in Germany! outstanding delivery time!!!!!! Thanks Newegg!!!!!
