5 out of 5 eggsExcellent laptop

Pros: -Excellent performance
-Cheap
-Looks cool
-Big screen
-Extra features (Built-in webcam, esata port, 7.1 sound card, etc)

This is an excellent laptop for the money. I've had it for over a month now and it runs great. The HD5850 is very impressive. I can play 95% of games on max settings without much, if any, hiccup. The only game that bogs this down is FSX, but even that runs very well for a laptop. FSX is known for being a system hog and even the fastest desktop computers still can't run the game at full settings without slow down. Bottom line: A very good laptop for the money.

Cons: -The case gets dirty very easily. You can see every fingerprint, smudge, and speck of dust immediately.
-The laptop does get warm, but not extremely hot. The exhaust fan is on the right side, so if youre right handed, your laptop will double as a personal space heater for your hand.
-As others have mentioned, the FN key is where the CTRL key should be. Takes some getting used to.

Other Thoughts: Comes with windows 7 64-bit. This can cause some compatibility issues with older applications so be aware. It also, at this point, can only run internet explorer 9 beta. Why microsoft is doing this i dont know, but you may want to be aware. This caused me to have to use firefox and chrome instead since IE9 doesnt like flash player and such.

Also someone mentioned that theres no way to change the volume with the keyboard. Disregard this. The laptop has the same FN keys as others to change the volume.

Overall: Excellent laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Impressions!

Pros: -Aluminum bezel and screen shell (Doesnt attract fingerprints)
-Full keyboard (rare in a smaller laptop)
-Sound quality, so far, has not distorted at max level
-Keys are very responsive
-Mousepad is very nice overall and quite responsive
-Webcam quality is nice (so far best I have seen in a laptop)

So far since I have had this out of the box this computer has performed nicely. I like the touch buttons being above the keyboard, I also like that they have adequate space between the number and "F" keys.

The best game I have for a test was Fallout 3, I had to modify the .ini file so the game only runs on 2 cores but after doing so fallout ran flawlessly on high settings.

The screen is very nice, crisp and bright! Like most laptops it does dull out when viewing from the sides but is still easy to see. I have not seen yet but Im hoping sunlight doesn't make the screen impossible to see.

Cons: -FN and CTRL keys are backwords as stated in previous reviews which kinda sucks but for gamers like myself nothing a Belkin n52te can't fix! http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=390404

-The quick access buttons on above the keyboard are not lit up unless turned on.

Im under the impression this laptop can be used with a media remote control (What seems to be the sensor is located on the front under the right mouse key) like you get with almost every HP. If so I'm somewhat confused as to why they wouldn't of included one.

Other Thoughts: I keep seeing everyone complaining (it's also in the description of the product) that there are only 2 x USB ports. There are actually 3 x USB ports! The E-Sata port on the right hand side doubles as a USB port. For those that don't know this is the best place to hook up a USB external hardrive. You will get the maximum allowable transfer speeds through this port.

With battery set to max power and plugged in just sitting here typing this the laptop runs hot (about 100 F). Whats to be expected from a "Gaming Laptop". My next investment will be a Targus HD3 chill mat!

Well so far its a keeper! Anyone looking for a nice gaming laptop, this is a good pick for a decent price!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Machine

Pros: -3 year warranty (pretty rare)
-Runs all games I play on high settings
-No heating issues
-Very fast overall
-Looks great in my opinion

Cons: -the touch buttons are a bit confusing (many people think their webcam is dysfunctional, when they just need to turn it on with the touch button. Same thing for wifi)
-Don't care for the sparkles on the touch buttons
- not much else

Other Thoughts: Great machine at a great price. You won't find a better value. Excellent specs with a 3 year warranty; cant go wrong

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Notebook

Pros: - This notebook has a very good graphics card and processor for the price.
- 3 year warranty
- Performs great
- Can handle most games on high settings

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Just upgraded to this after using a Pentium 4, 1gb ram, integrated graphics desktop for 6 years. HUGE improvement!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy for the Price

Pros: I purchased this laptop to replace an existing one that recently broke.

For the price, it has great value.

As a post-secondary student, I am able to do all the necessary things for school and much more.
It plays Starcraft II on ultra settings without any problems, and is pretty quick at running other programs.

Cons: Cons:
- like someone else has noted the only problem(minor, imo) is that the Fn key and the Ctrl keys are in swapped which can cause somewhat of a nuisance, especially while gaming

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing gaming laptop.

Pros: -Great Specs
-Great Price

I haven't fooled around in the games too much, but what I have done so far has blown my mind. Upon initially looking at this computer, I thought that I might be able to run Starcraft 2 on High settings with okay framerates. However, I was blown away when I cranked everything up to high and had no problem. I was even further impressed when I boosted all the settings to Ultra and still didn't see a drop in the framerate. Overall, this is a solid computer, and with a 3 year warranty from MSI, I'm feeling pretty confident about my ability to continue to frag for years on.

The design is nice, I like the red and black coloring, and the media pad is nice. The computer also came with a pretty nice webcam and a numpad, which is apparently pretty rare for a laptop of this size.

Cons: Keyboard is a little cramped, but that can be said for any laptop keyboard.

This thing is a battery hog, but it is built for gaming.

I have found that the case is a bit of a fingerprint magnet.

Comes preinstalled with Windows 7, and the Office license is only for 60 days. Woulda been nice to have the option to get XP, but that is neither MSI's fault, nor Newegg's fault.

Other Thoughts: I am extremely pleased with Newegg and MSI as of right now, and if the computer continues to be as amazing as it is right now, I'll definitely be a returning customer.

5 out of 5 eggsYou can't go wrong with this.

Pros: This is simply an all-around good laptop. For the money, you get a feature set will which destroy current games. Enough RAM for gaming usage, huge hard drive, beautiful high-resolution panel, graphics horsepower to spare, and a very capable CPU plus lots of extra features (it even has a dialup modem in it) combine to form a very good laptop for $1200. Add in that it's backed by a 3 year warranty, and you simply can't go wrong.

Cons: Only 2 USB ports - 1 on either side. Could have done with a few more.
Too many stickers slapped onto it? (I don't like stickers)

Other Thoughts: My only minor gripe was that it took me half an hour to figure out how to turn the wireless card on. For anyone who gets stuck on the same thing, tap the icon (in the top touch-sensitive row) between the bluetooth and the P1 icons.

5 out of 5 eggsBought for gaming

Pros: I have only had this computer for two days, but I figured I'd go ahead and help anybody looking to find a budget gaming computer.

Runs every game so far I've thrown at it at high graphic settings.

Is able to run FFXIV, this is why I bought it.

Great value, i7 is a better processor that you can buy in this price range, but you can't get an i7 with an awesome graphics card in this price range. This is a great value for a gamer that wants to get a lot of performance for a small amount of money, again this is a quick computer.

I've read that it runs hot, mine does not.

The quick function bar at the top of the keyboard is handy but also has it's cons that I will mention in the con section.

Keyboard is responsive and does not miss any keys, I have already typed a 4 page research paper with no problems.

The mouse bad is responsive, especially the scroll option at on the right side of the pad.

Everything ran smoothly right out of the box, with not much bloatware at all

Cons: Only two USB ports, this is a big con for me as I need to be able to have a cooler, controller, and wireless mouse plugged in all at once.

Haven't found an option to turn off the built in mouse yet, that is disappointing if there is no option for it.

Oddly, no ability to control the volume of the speakers without doing it in windows.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, the cons are nothing that can't be dealt with. A USB hub will take care of the lack of USB ports, and I'm sure there is a way to disable the mouse that I have not found out about yet. This is a great computer so far that I would recommend to everyone.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for your buck

Pros: Intel i5 is awesome.

HD 5850 can run any game you want in medium or high settings.

The screen looks beautiful.

Run high end games smoothly and fast.

And what can you say about the price? It's the best price for this type of spec!

Cons: It pushes a lot of hot air but can be fixed up with a laptop cooler.

Mouse pad is slow to respond and can get in the way of typing sometime. (just use a laptop mouse)

Ctrl button is switched with the Fn button but not really a big deal if you get used to it.

Other Thoughts: Battery life is 2-3 hours without playing games. Yes! I would recommend this laptop to everyone!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop

Pros: - Great laptop, works perfectly.
- Fast
- The graphics card is great. Have been playing StarCraft 2 and it is beautiful (Running 1680x1050)
- light laptop with all that is packed into it.
- Not too much bloatware
- 3 year warranty!

Cons: - any cons that this laptop has are minor

Other Thoughts: - At this point I would definitely buy another laptop from MSI
- Before purchasing I had some questions from MSI and they were very helpful and prompt
- When NewEgg gets these back in stock, buy one.

I shopped around for a couple of months and this laptop has the most bang for the buck. It has a nice balance of everything and still has better specs than most laptops available.
