5 out of 5 eggsgood all around Laptop

Pros: Fast. has 2 2.0 and 2 3.0 USB connections. And a VGA.Bought a router and built in LAN seems like there's a cord attached. 1600x900 resolution is great clear and without fault. Can't think of very many things bad about it. Play WOW on it And I can get anywhere between 30-60 fps on medium settings. Not the best but way good enough to play with out stutter.remember this card is the bottom of the Nvidia family of cards it comes from. But a very good all around card. i5 CPU is quick and with out fault.

Cons: Gets a bit hot of course when playing a game. Upper left hand corner.Bought a Cool Master NotePal X2 great little cooler but the FX720 overhangs the Cooler by almost an inch on each side. so it doesnt work well with this Laptop. FX720 is a 17.3 " system so. Just keep in mind the size when buying a cooler.(fans are next to silent on this Cooler.)
The top is supposed to be Finger Print resistant. DON'T Believe it.

Other Thoughts: Any Bloatware that the FX720 can live without I deleted as soon as I plugged it in and it is an all around good Laptop. Does everything well But not a master of any. If you are looking for a Laptop that will last a good deal of time but can't afford over a thousand dollars to buy then this is the best IMO.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product, bad shipping

Pros: Great bang for the buck, impressive amount of hardware for the price. I've been

Cons: Not too many thus far. Only possible negative is that the case has a cheap plastic feel, but that's nitpicking.

Other Thoughts: The laptop was shipping in a box that was too big. When it was delivered, the box had been crushed by UPS (of course). When I picked up the box, the laptop inside slid around thanks to the terrible packing job. I didn't want to penalize the laptop so I give it high marks, but buy elsewhere unless you want your new laptop to be bounced around like a pinata during shipping.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Appearance, graphics, speed, battery life, sound.

Cons: I do not need HD to be partitioned.

Other Thoughts: I gave a MSI a try and I'm not dissapointed. if you can go for this size of a screen, you will appreciate it. I really like how long battery lasts. Graphics is beautiful. Great machine for photos, video, games.
Of course shipping by Newegg was awesome. I got this machine in 2 days!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hardware for the Price - Better for a Techie

Pros: Try finding this much hardware for this cheap somewhere else - you can't. When I was looking two months ago, this was the best deal out there. Based on previous reviews, I didn't bother using this laptop as is out of the box. I upgraded to a 500GB 7200RPM HD, 8 GB RAM, and replaced the wifi card with a N/bluetooth card. It runs fast, cool, and I have never had a blue screen or any other problems.
-Great as a desktop replacement
-Screen is quality and bright
-speakers are pretty good compared to most laptops
-USB 3.0 is nice
-no over-heating issues
-video card is more than adequate for most - I am not much of a gamer
-keyboard has nice feel
-battery life has been superb - been averaging 3-4 hours with the video card turned off and display on max

Cons: Wifi chip sucks - replace it for $10-20; I recommend the Broadcom BCM4313. Needs a format and reinstall of Windows but that is any pc you buy now-a-days. The exterior is nice and pretty scratch-proof, but annoyingly shows fingerprints. Touchpad takes a little getting used to, but has grown on me - requires two fingers for scrolling. Also, the single bar style mouse buttons takes some getting used to. No manual eject button on th cd-rom could be a problem in the future.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this computer or any other MSI unless you know something about computers. MSI makes great hardware and components; I would not expect any customer service from them. For me, I prefer more hardware for the buck then being able to call an operator and have them talk me through re-installing windows when there is a problem.

I expect this laptop to last me a while, but I would have no problem buying another MSI, as long as I read the reviews first and new what parts I needed to replace.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop

Pros: - Beautiful large screen
- The keyboard layout is comfortable to use and gives good feedback
- Speakers can get make some noise
- Windows 7 runs great on this system, driver install was straight forward
- All those USB drives come in handy

Cons: - Battery life (ranges from 2-5 hours depending on use)
- The OEM installation of Windows is extremely slow
- Could be a good thing or a bad thing, but only about ~590GB is usable because space is reserved for an emergency restore ( you go into the BIOS and it resets everything back to factory spec )
- Material quality feels nice but it could be better

Other Thoughts: First thing I did when I got this computer was format the OEM system and install Windows 7 Ultimate. You'll need to install the modem driver from the CD, and the rest of the drivers will be installed automatically from there.

I bought this laptop because I wanted something with enough power for work and school, but was just as usable as my desktop at home (i7 920 @4GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX580) Though you definitely wont be playing games on this laptop, its one beast when it comes to media, and power-intensive applications. The few minor problems that it has, outweigh the positives of this great machine.

Some of the reviews say they get a lot of blue screens and problems which worried me at first, but Ive been using mine non-stop for a week now without any blue screens or application crashes.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: PC looks good, very light given its size, good speakers. I love the button that enables me to disable the mouse pad right on the machine. I was very excited about the overall machine. Very quiet after start up.

Cons: The DVD/CD Drive is extremely loose and rattles. That seems to be the least of my worries.

In around 3 weeks I have had the Blue Screen of Death at least 50 times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled almost every program I've added and uninstalled and reinstalled almost every driver. I will be using it and it will just go BSOD. After I turn it back on and wade through 10 minutes of "Safe Mode" or "Checking Disk for Inconsistencies" it comes back on.

We think it might be both the video card and the RAM, because the WebCam has never worked...

I have taken it to my companies computer guru several times who has attempted to reinstall Windows 7, updated video drivers, uninstalled video drivers, and more. Finally he concluded it is either a RAM problem or just a Lemon PC.

The next huge frustration was the MSI website. Laptops are not even listed as an option for requesting an RMA #, and the laptop is not listed under any products. Pretty frustrating.

Other Thoughts: I'll be back to update how MSI has handled the customer service issue...

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: - Solid performance, good specs all around make this thing perform pretty well compared even with my SLI tower PC. I'd say don't look to be too impressed, but it will handle most graphics beautifully for sure.
- Fantastic screen real estate, its HUGE! Possibly a con if you're into more convenient size. Just know that 17+ inches is really 17+ inches.
- Initial testing shows decent battery life, nothing particularly impressive but under moderate to heavy load while installing applications, downloading and web surfing it took a little over an hour to drain the battery to 50%. The quick swapping between the Intel and dedicated Nvidia card is as far as I can tell seamless and extremely useful for battery life.

- Love on/off button for the touch pad.
- Speakers are pretty good actually.
- Keyboard layout (due to size) is very close to my desktop, no getting used to weirdly placed keys!
- MSI S-Bar is actually quite useful, I installed it even after a fresh OS install.
- Came

Cons: - You'll want to do a format and fresh OS install most likely. I'm sure its possible to remove the bloatware but I honestly don't ever want to bother, simpler just to give yourself a fresh one and make it YOUR machine through and through. It doesn't seem bad though. I've seen laptops come with 10x as much junk pre-installed.
- No bluetooth? Why is there any version without it in this day and age? Is it expensive? *cackle* Oh well, that's what USB dongles are for (which, interestingly enough, are not expensive at all).
- Bios doesn't seem to have a setting to ignore boot disks/USB drives and force a HD boot by default.
- Kinda back heavy, but I guess that is typical for laptops. It doesn't sit in your lap straight up very well in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: This thing is great. Overall I definitely got what I was hoping for in this purchase. We'll see in a few months, but I suspect it will hold up well like most other MSI products (all of my prior MSI products are superb, and have held up exceptionally well).
