4 out of 5 eggsGreat for gaming and dev

Pros: I love this machine. It is everything I need in one: gaming + development machine.

Cons: The laptop itself is large and heavy. You won't want it on your lap, so find a table. The power supply is huge and gets hot.

4 out of 5 eggsMSI

Pros: Fast, efficient , great style. Can handle a lot at the same time and can keep up. I love that it has a booster fan, although I never had to use it, I have tested it out on other occasions though. Love the customizable keyboard back light colors and to be honest, the speakers handle quite well and the bass is quite nice.
Worth the price, for sure.

Cons: Keyboard would be my only problem, sometimes I type out everything correctly, being used to my keyboard now, only the keys sometimes don't regester. Spacebar being the worst.
I've gotten the "blue screen of death" but only once.

Other Thoughts: Really worth it, to be honest. If you want an everyday laptop to mostly game and multitask this is your choice, on a more portable point of view it is quite heavy. I personally wouldn't mind taking it around with me.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming machine, don't try to be productive with it though...

Pros: So, this thing is a gaming BEAST!! Love it! With the regular, shared video I can play D3 "almost" on high video settings, but after enabling the nVidia card, this baby screams! Boot up time is fantastic (yeah SSD, even if it is not super high quality).

Cons: KEY-mother-freakin'-BOARD!!! Now most people were able to overlook this "minor" annoyance, but seeing as I use my laptop for business and pleasure, I simply can't turn a blind eye, especially when it gouged me for $2,000...

For those of you who want a rough idea of what I'm talking about, here was how I tested just how often the keyboard missed a key. I found an online typing test and tested my typing skills a few times. With this laptop I averaged about ~45-50 wpm after my speed was adjusted for errors. On the same exact test with another keyboard my speed jumped to ~80+ wpm with NO errors. That's almost a 50% drop in productivity. I could could maybe understand 1 or 2 keys every 100 or so key presses, but when I'm missing that many keystrokes, it is simply unacceptable, especially for the price paid.

Other Thoughts: Another mildly irritating problem I have is that, like a previous reviewer mentioned, removing the bottom cover to replace hard drives, add memory, etc. effectively voids the warranty. A month in this isn't really a problem, but 6 months to a year down the road, I could see this being a MAJOR concern.

7/11/12 - I have sent the laptop back under warranty to see if maybe a different machine will at least improve my missed keystroke issues. More to come upon receipt of replacement.

2 out of 5 eggsso ugly and renamed old Fermi architecture GPU

Pros: 1) It has enough power to handle most games at max settings

2) 3D screen quality is decent

3) selection of connectors is alright

Cons: 1) The design of the case: its like they couldn't make up their minds who's design to copy, so they took something of everything, turning it into a hopeless mish-mash, that makes anyone remotely sensitive to good industrial design feel a little ill. MSI: hire Frogdesign or some other professionals to make one good design and then keep that over the years, like other notable gaming notebook manufacturers have done successfully.

2) It uses an old Fermi architecture chip, cleverly renamed to 670M to make it sound like its new.
Its not weak, but it sucks too much power and runs a lot hotter than Kepler chips.

3) The keyboard is awful to type on - way too much flex. Some manufacturers already started to mount their keyboards on a solid footing, I wish MSI would...

Other Thoughts: I am not keeping it, too ugly and Nvidia, listen up: I consider renaming old chips cheating your customers. Try to be good?

4 out of 5 eggsBought it and love it after tweeking

Pros: It is everything it is described to be. Great game laptop. It is not as heavy as I thought it would be, my 5 yrs old Gateway 17" laptop is heavier by far. The new battery last quite long: I watched almost 2 BD movies before I got a low power message.

Cons: Noticed that some keys do skip, the space bar is weaker on the right side and iwouldenduptypinglikethis, and if I was typing reports and essays or writing a novel, it would be bad, realfast. Also for some reason running Corel WinDVD to play BD movies dropped Windows colors to "Basic Schemes" for whatever it is worth, it might be a software conflict. The worst thing was that when I was in any game, some messages whether caused by me or automatic will kick me back to windows, still need to work on some more settings.

Other Thoughts: Oh yeah, surprise, I found out that when the lid is closed the computer goes to sleep, I was playing D3 when I was told to move around and it went goodnite. Had to change some settings. Got no problem with the S bar, almost unoticeable. I do need more time for more tweeking and getting used to it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Gaming Lapop

Pros: Bought this, primarily, for gaming. It met my expectations, and I haven't tried a game yet that has challenged this laptop.

Great cooling and heat dissipation. There's a turbo fan hotkey button you can press at any time. Main vent blows air out of the left side, with slight exhaust from the rear-left.

Outstanding CPU.

Amazing sound quality, for laptop.

Wireless is powerful.

SSD and HHD are correctly formatted and partitioned.

Minimal bloatware.

Cons: Period key skipping.

Even while writing this review, I've pressed a few keys that did not register. I suppose it doesn't matter as much in gaming, as you're usually spamming a key, but it sure matters when typing.

The included SSD is kind of sub-par, and only nets a 6.8 WEI score.

Removing the cover plate for the HDD bay VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY. As someone who wanted to replace he stock SSD, this greatly disappointed me.

Other Thoughts: Changing the LED colors on they keyboard is sort of cool.

Only 3 drivers could be updated, and they were non-critical.

I would have overlooked the key skipping and gave this review 5 eggs, since I'll mostly use a peripheral keyboard, but the warranty void for removing the HDD bay plate shocked me.
