5 out of 5 eggsBeast of a Machine

Pros: Title says it all - This laptop runs anything on maxed graphics without a hitch (with the exception of an occasional stutter in TERA online on ultra settings). The quad core Ivy Bridge powers through anything Ive thrown at it so far. Plenty of ram.

I havent overclocked the graphics card yet, I may if I keep seeing the slight stutters under heavily taxing situations in TERA. The 670MX's Kepler architecture supposedly allows for a 15% OC without any heat issues - which is pretty cool if that proves to be true. Should beat the 675M handily.

SteelSeries keyboard is very nice. Great rebound on the keys, very cool, customizable backlighting, and no flex at all. Feels well made.

While I normally use a headset, I did test out the speakers for a bit and they sounded pretty good. I doubt theyd fill a room - but its a laptop. Cant expect stellar audio from it.

Screen is bright and sharp, games and videos look great with the 1920x1080.

Blu-ray is always a plus- although i dont watch any of it. Maybe ill start now.

Overall its a beast, runs everything but the most taxing games on ultra settings.

TERA Online
Kerbal Space Program (Even building a massive space station, I get no noticable FPS dips)
PlanetSide 2
Far Cry 3
Starcraft 2

I dont care enough to do FPS benchmarks for all of them, but they run smooth except for the previously stated events.

Cons: Fans are barely audible at idle, but under load the noise picks up a little. The fan boost button makes it sound like a Jet taking off - but it moves a huge amount of air and is optional.

Mousepad is a tad small, compared to the rest of it. If youre going to have a huge laptop, might as well go big on the mousepad as well.

Windows 8.

The screen is a little flexy, but I guess thats hard to avoid when its so big.

Im assuming you understand the size of it if youre looking at it, but it is huge. I dont have any trouble carrying it, but I'm 6'1" - If you have a smaller frame it might be a little heavy/unwieldy.

Other Thoughts: Awesome laptop, great buy and well priced for its specs. MSi is a good brand, highly recommended.

Also, I was comparing this to the model thats the exact same, except it has the 675M instead of the 670MX. Even though the 675 looks better on paper, the MX is probably the better choice, as the 675M is based off of old fermi architecture, which is less power efficient and can have heat issues. Better to get the new 670MX with the Kepler structure, In my opinion. It allows for a higher OC and will be supported further in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsGT70 ONC

Pros: This is a really great laptop I got this unit over the GTX 670 model because the GTX670MX is the Kepler gpu and can get an higher overclock, mine is clocked at 745/2322 over the stock 614/1399
The screen is amazing , keyboard is good i sold my Asus G74 and bought this and honesty MSI has the better chassis.

Cons: Windows 8 is retched after 10 minuites of getting this i installed Windows 7 x64

Other Thoughts: This is a high quality gaming laptop i love everything about this unit, I have had many gaming laptops and MSI has got it going on with these units. I put a Mushkin 240Gb and a Toshiba 1.5 TB, and with Win 7 I got this thing tearing stuff up. The GTX670MX has no problem handling a 1920x1080 panel.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming laptop for the price

Pros: Runs very cool and quite for long periods of gaming, the turbocool can get noisy but headphones will fix that. Its played every game I've thrown at it (Skyrim, Dota2, BF3 just to name a few) smoothly. Crystal clear screen. The keyboard lighting gives it a nice touch for personalzing.

Cons: Mouse pad seems to quit every once in a while but not a true con if you just use a regular mouse and Windows 8

Other Thoughts: Ive had this for a little over a month, been on 2 trips and its performed better than I expected out of the box. The 670MX will benchmark better than the 675M with the right tweeking.

5 out of 5 eggsNever would have believed

Pros: The network card, the speaker systems, the Steelseries keyboard, the i7, you name it.

Cons: The second hard drive bay is SATA II and this limits the second hard drive bay to 3.0 Gbps transfers.

So if you are looking to add an SSD make sure that you know you are going to have to move the HHD to the second hard drive bay and this will slow down the HHD.

Other Thoughts: It really is hard to find any cons about this particular unit, especially when looking for a decent gaming laptop at a good price.

Many people will tell you to take Windows 8 off of the machine, don't bother, the machine will slow down noticeably

5 out of 5 eggsgaming laptop

Pros: fast processor
fairly recent NVidia card built in
built in fan and turbo buttons
12gb ram and beautiful 17.3 screen
keyboard customizable lighting

Cons: no ssd.. also hard drive is split up for recovery
Blu-ray drive could be iffy
also built in graphics supersedes NVidia until you specify
in game
cannot switch on the fly with graphics

Other Thoughts: really nice laptop but tried to install elder scrolls v with disc and vibrated badly and would not recognize.. only disc so far to not be read.. movies worked.. also not happy having to use intel graphics for most processes.. liked to have NVidia running all the time.. also this messes up the windows experience benchmarks so not able to get good ratings of video.. hard drive drops it to 5.9 because not ssd.. overall gave it 5 stars due to other pluses I posted and new egg got it here quick.. live in nj and was sent out from jersey worked out for me

4 out of 5 eggsNice Gaming Laptop

Pros: GTX 670mx can handle anything pretty much. Control over the fan and led color is nice. Plenty of extra SSD room and very easy to get access to everything. Screen is very nice and doesn't have a lot of glare, which is nice.

Cons: Wish the design was a little cooler. Black brushed metal is nice but feels lacking. WAY to many stickers but to be expected. Also was some bloat wear on it. The only thing it gets a -1 egg for is MSI driver download is terrible!! The drivers for it are hidden on the website. It is also VERY picky about taking SSD's. It did not like my OCZ vertex and took me a while before I could get the drive detected.

Other Thoughts: I am glad I saved my money and bought the GTX 670mx instead of the 675MX. The 670MX can handle anything and later down the road you can always smack in a GTX 680MX. The vga cooler is universal among all GT70 laptops. I also smacked in a vertex 4 SSD right when I got it and fresh install of windows.

5 out of 5 eggsBeast Mode On

Pros: It completely manhandles everything I've thrown at it so far. Its MSI, awesome. Screen size & picture quality raises the bar for future expectations.

Cons: Battery life i guess..but that's a gaming laptop for you, so what.

Other Thoughts: Not feeling like writing a super long "helpful" review. Just rating it. I really can't complain about battery life.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performer

Pros: Bought this for my wife for Christmas; Fantastic machine. Put a 15% OC on the 670MX's video Ram and it will blow a 675M out of the water.
Runs very quiet and VERY cool.
Max settings on GW2, Mass effect/Dragon age series and anything you throw at it.
Very durable feeling keyboard.

Cons: No SSD, but extra bay is available.
... windows 8 with non touch screen is no worth it.
the Blue Ray player is a bit noisy when in use.

Other Thoughts: Again I am very surprised at how cool and quiet this machine runs at full load, even with a slight vid card OC.

5 out of 5 eggsamazing machine, destroys all games

Pros: stays extremely cool even under heavy loads, playing hitman on ultra for an hour at 89-98% utilization and gpu temps top out at 61 degrees!. system gets 30fps on ultra on all games or you can turn off fxaa, ssao, msaa and get 35-45fps on ultra in hitman absolution, skyrim, etc. steelseries keyboard is responsive, no ghosting, lighting is amazing.
what can i say but that this pc is perfect. i bought it on sale for $1300 and think that $1500 is a bit much. no need for ssd as 700gb hd and win 8 boot up extremely fast.
audio is amazing for a laptop. for reference it sounds like a HDTV. the sound will fill a room. bass is weak, but compared to most laptops, the audio on this machine is top-notch.

Cons: fan is really loud. at idle it sound like most pc's on full blast. i thought this was a problem but this beast moves massive air. when things do heat up it sounds like a jet, but playing with headphones fixes that little issue.
win8 is a hunkk of junk. if you've having issues installing any programs its because win 8 doesn't like firewall or anti-virus. this is fixed by using comodo firewall+antivirus. all other anti-virus/firewall programs will crush win8.
OPTIMUS is a hunk of junk. luckily nividia control panel allows you to launch any program with GPU rather than integrated graphics. simply hover over program icon, right click and select "runs with graphics processor". you'll get the option to run with 670mx or HD4000

Other Thoughts: other than the loud fan and win 8 this system rules. remember if you have any issues with program than dump your anti-virus/firewall and install comodo.
if you hate win8 then google classic shell and install it. it'll make win8 function like win7.
