5 out of 5 eggsBang for buck :D

Pros: +All around fast performance
+Games look great
+Great speakers
+Lightweight for how good the specs are
+Cooling button feature (great for when your playing games)
+17.3 inch screen 1920x1080 resolution

Cons: -Windows 8
-Touchpad seems buggy (Might just be mine since I did buy mine refurbished, but I use a wireless mouse anyways so it's really not an issue)
-2 hour battery life
-DVD player instead of BD player

Other Thoughts: I got mine refurbished for $950! I am very happy about that and would recommend going that route if you want to save a little money.

You might receive a BSOD with a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (e22w8x64.sys)" error.

This is caused by a program called Qualcomm Atheros Killer Service. Just go in your System config setting and disable it. Even the developers of this program say it doesn't work (at the moment) so I'm not sure exactly why the laptop comes with it..

5 out of 5 eggsWifi

Pros: Is anyone still having any issues with the wifi card?

Cons: The above question is the deciding factor on this laptop for me.

5 out of 5 eggsTremendous Value!

Pros: Having upgraded from an older Dell model, I'm blown away. 8 GB memory is a welcomed luxury, and so too the 2 GB GTX 660m!

Good luck finding a better unit for the price.

Cons: Would've preferred Windows 7, but that's all atm...

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't be happier

Pros: Crystal sharp screen, thin and light. More than adequate power for the MMOs I play and more than enough umph for multitasking and multimedia. Amazing specs and performance for the price. I just couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Cons: Windows 8, but that is becoming less and less an issue as I use it. Finish picks up prints and smudges easily, but a quick wipe fixes that.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8, what shall I say about thee? I can't help but think that some of my fellow geeks just may be selling this OS short because, as another reviewer put it, its a "dumbed down" version of windows. Yeah it takes some getting used to, but so far so good. As I get used to it, just as I did 7 and vista (a truly horrific iteration of windows) and xp and ME and 95 and 3.11 before it, it will be as intuitive as scratching an itch.

3 out of 5 eggsComputer great, shipping not

Pros: GE70 runs quiet, fits well onto 17" cooling stands, GTX660M video card handles most games I've thrown at it on high-ultra settings. The button for extra cooling from the laptop itself is nice when editing videos or playing graphics intensive games. Steel series keyboard is very nice but the shift key is about half the size of most other keyboards I've used. Threw me off at first but I've gotten used to it. The laptop itself is very light, skinny, and easily taken apart to upgrade (RAM, SSD bay, and HDD bay are all pretty straightforward). The sound also sounds better IMO than a MacBook and you can hear to sound move from left to right if you are playing games. Also takes a little getting used to. Overall, so far I'd definitely recommend the GE70.

Cons: The reason I took off 2 eggs is because my GE70 came in a large box almost 6 times the size of the actual laptop box. That would be totally fine if there was some kind of buffering inside. There was nothing. Just 2 pieces of paper thin brown paper. I wouldn't care about something like that, except I paid $1,200. That's alot of space for a $1,200 piece of hardware to rattle around or fall down in. Then the next day I bought a backpack, cooling stand, and got a free wireless adapter thing. It came bubble wrapped and the whole box had packing peanuts. Am I missing something here Newegg?? Are your packing people okay?

Anyway, that being said...

The black case attracts dust easily. I haven't had it for more than a month and it's pretty much grown a beard. Nothing a little canned air can't help though. Also, when I put a CD for the first time into the optical drive it was making noise from running hard and made the drive itself shake. Don't know if this is just mine though...

Other Thoughts: Overall very easy to get used to and user friendly. Looks sick. Strong under the hood. good value for price. Good cooling and so far MSI has much enter customer service than ASUS.

5 out of 5 eggsMSi always delivers!

Pros: - Excellent form factor. Very sleek and appealing to the eyes
- Screen is beautiful - really amazing.
- Keyboard is solid, feels mechanical
- Touchpad is precise, so I don't have to drag a mouse around when I'm on the go.
- Easy access to drive bays for adding in SSD or RAM.
- Great price!

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: Even if you are not a gamer I would seriously considering this machine. You could save a few hundred and get a laptop with no dedicated graphics, but you'd just limit yourself to what you are capable of doing!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Laptop

Pros: Instant over clocking
Partitioned hard drive (475 gb and 201 gb)
Surprisingly light
Anti-reflective display
Very good price
Doesn't come with any bloat ware

Cons: Mic is rather quiet (not that anybody uses the built in mic)
Can't just press the turbo button, only does it automatically

Other Thoughts: Overall a really good laptop, as long as it is what you're looking for.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop... Bad OS

Pros: I am an ex pro-gamer turned casual for school/real life and this PC is awesome for all the games that I currently play (CS1.6, HON, SC2, etc..) Also its very lightweight for how good its specs are, making it ideal for taking to school.

Cons: Windows 8.... I can't emphasize enough how bad Windows 8 is for this laptop in my opinion. I gave Windows 8 a 2-week trial period and I was VERY dissappointed. It seemed to run games choppy and all around the features of Windows 8 just aren't for systems without touchscreen... I've now had Windows 7 pro on it for about a week and the difference was immediate. I was running HON at 1980x1020 on low settings with Windows 8 and getting terrible choppiness. With Windows 7 I run HON at 1980x1020 on ULTRA and it feels really good (maybe a little chop but not noticable enough to down settings to HIGH) I'm not sure if this problem was somehow a fluke or what but now that I have Windows 7 Pro installed this laptop is awesome.

Other Thoughts: In my opinion anyone looking to buy a new laptop should try to avoid Windows 8. But even if the PC comes with Windows 8 you can reformat with your own Windows 7 and MSI has drivers for W7 as well.

5 out of 5 eggsNice!!!

Pros: Has the mSATA slot, Full HD 1920X1080p screen and a WD Black 7200rpm HDD. When I was looking at buying a laptop I read a lot of reviews about this and other similar laptops. I couldn't find a definite answer whether this particular model had the mSATA or not. It does. The procedure to migrate is pretty simple. This comes with the MSI BurnRecovery software which makes recovery DVD's that restores your HDD image. I needed 5 DVD-R's to do this. After I made those I removed the stock HDD (Western Digital Black 7200rpm) and installed a Mushkin Enhanced Atlas Series MKNSSDAT120GB-DX mSATA 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) drive. Need to find a screw to secure the mSATA because the drive does not come with one and you cannot install without it. It’s the same screw that would secure a mini card like a wireless card, modem or Bluetooth. Important!-Get into the bios by pressing Del when the MSI logo pops up and disable the secure boot option in the Bios. Booted from the recovery DVD's and restored the image to the mSATA drive. This puts 5 partitions onto that drive-EFI boot sector, Windows recovery, OS partition, Data partition and Recovery partition. Opened computer management after reboot and removed the data partition. I also removed the recovery partition which is about 17 GB because I have the backup DVD's. Extend the OS partition to the unallocated space. This gives you about 100GB for your OS. Get back into the Bios and enable the secure boot option again and boot into your OS. Shut down, reinstall the HDD and reboot. Go to Settings, Change PC Settings, General and select Advanced Startup. When it restarts get to the command prompt. Type in "DISKPART", enter, "list disk", enter. Find the disk that is 698GB (should be disk 0) then type in "select disk 0", enter, "clean", enter, "Y" because yes you are sure you want to wipe the drive. Reboot, get into computer management, activate disk and make the partitions you want. I moved all of the library file folders to the single "Data" partition I made on that drive. Music, Videos, Documents and Downloads. Installed 'most' programs on the OS drive and still have about 20GB left. Takes seconds to boot now with no stability issues at all.

Cons: A lot of reviews say this laptop is a little flimsy or fragile and does not seem durable. If you live your life with a broken screen on your cell phone I would not recommend this laptop for you. It is, however, thin and light which is why I chose this particular one. Take care of your stuff and it will last! If not, buy the extended warranty. You cannot set up the mSATA as a Cache drive on this laptop due to the Bios not being able to create a RAID array so a 32GB or 64GB mSATA purchase will result in nothing but hate and discontent because you will only get 32 or 64GB of additional storage out of it. Or, a compacted Windows install with the need to buy aftermarket file management software to store system and program files on the Data drive. If you do this and have to wait for the transfer rate of the spin drive what is point of going to mSATA in the first place?

Other Thoughts: I’ve had this for about a month now and love it. When I bought this I also bought the mSATA drive and 16GB of ram (this is manufacturers limit) G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C10D-16GSQ the entire process to do the upgrades took me about two weeks because there isn’t much info on migrating the OS without an OEM Windows install disk or some software that doesn’t work because of the EFI partitions. I refused to buy another OS when the laptop I just bought has one. There is very little bloatware on this laptop, MS Office setup, MSI BurnRecovery, Battery Calibration and SuperCharger. That’s about it. No additional toolbars or ads as you would get with other manufacturers. If you duplicate my procedure the process should take you no more than an hour or two unless you have already put your own stuff on the laptop. In that case you just have to back up your files and then put them back on when you wipe the drive. If you don’t want to wipe the drive you can just delete the OS partition but then you end up with dynamic instead of a basic partition because when you extend your Data partition you extend it to the left instead of the right. One last item-performance and graphics. I use this to play WoW and I have the graphics set to Ultra settings. The lowest frame rate I recall seeing is 27fps but definitely no performance issues even at the ultra setting.
