4 out of 5 eggsUpdate!

Pros: Under a 100 Bucks! (on sale) MSI branded, Factory Rooted Device! Dual cameras Micro SD and HDMI out.

Cons: No blu2th, Bad out of the Box, slow and lacking.( NEEDS FIRMWARE UPDATE) No frills Speaker!

Other Thoughts: I have had the opportunity to get one of these at about 85 bucks on sale and had made plans to root and develop on this tablet but was disappointed when its performance was lacking at even the simplest of tasks. I found that the tablet had root privileges already enabled and since the box came shrink wrapped in plastic I assume it came from the factory this way. After completing the firmware update I noticed a moderate improvement of its performance. With the tablet retaining its root rights I proceed to find a performance booster app at play store and got lucky. NOW, there are a few steps to take (of course its never that easy) before I got to double its performance but It was worth the time and the hassle. The Tablet is now quicker and more responsive overall.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor choice

Pros: NO PROS

Would Have given no stars if possible. This is the first product from Newegg that does not perform as advertised.

Cons: Slow, slow, slow. did I mention Slow? Touch screen is more like sit on it, or stand on to get any results. Will not buy any more MSI products.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money

3 out of 5 eggsMSI Primo 73 - It is just okay

Pros: It is thin, and the back plate is aluminum, so it looks and feels solid. 16GB of memory, and its price is decent (I got it for $79 after mail-in rebate)

Cons: It takes a long time (over 6 hours) to fully charge the battery from a complete drain. My Toshiba Thrive takes less than 2 hours to get a full charge. After upgrading to the latest firmware, it performs a little faster than before, but it is still slow for a dual-core processor. Surfing the web on this tablet is noticeably slower than on the Thrive, and it takes a little bit longer to connect to the wifi as well. Overall, it is slower in every aspect.

Other Thoughts: The big thing that I don't like on the MSI Primo 73 is the time (over 6 hours) that it takes to fully charge the battery from a complete drain. Plus, it is noticeably slower in every aspect. In my opinion, it is a good buy if you can get it for around $70. For anything more than $90, I won't buy it.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away got it for $82

Pros: stylish
dual webcam
16gb of internal storage
smaller and thiner than most 7in tabs

Cons: screen is grainy compared to a a1000
speakers on full blast is very quiet
NEEDS to be updated to latest firmware, You got to do it yourself on msi official website, this took more than 8 hours to download a 500mb file
not responsive for a dual core and constant crashing back to home screen

Other Thoughts: for what you got to do in order to use this as was intended you must jump through hoops and dive thru rings of fire.
its listed at 110 but i got it on sale at 82 here on newegg.
For what its worth I wouldn't buy it for more than 60 due to its slow responsiveness
I urge you to get the a1000 it is a better deal trust me

1 out of 5 eggsPurchase with Caution

Pros: It's unfortunate that "Pros" is a required field.

Cons: I had high hopes that these would be decent basic tablets for the family. After all, they did have MSI's name on them and a 'newer' version of Android OS. Unfortunately, too many corners were cut and the hardware was definitely not up to the task. The modifications to Android felt half-hearted and the UI felt unfinished.

Most importantly, 3 out of 4 of these ceased to function within 1 week of turning them on.

Other Thoughts: In all honesty, I dislike giving such a bad review to anything. But in this instance, feel it's a moral obligation to inform others to be cautious when purchasing.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Surprises

Pros: Price, Brand, Features

Cons: Performance, needs firmware update,

Other Thoughts: This is the first time I had seen any name brand on a lower end tablet. Has performance issues with Hang and Lag but plays media and installed games fairly well. I do as like many others will say that the firmware update is worth the performance fix.

1 out of 5 eggsbad egg

Pros: cheap :) waiting for the firmware update to dl, then i will install and see if it fixes the slowness as previously stated by another newegger. i didnt read any review about the firmware fixing the volume problem on the speakers... we shall see. yes, we shall see.

Cons: i have had this since christmas. got it for the kids who always want to play games on our phones. this would have been a great alternative. however it is sluggishly slow. it freezes and restarts when it thinks too hard. the speakers are sooooooooo quiet at full volume. needless to say my kids still ask for my phone to play games while the tablet collects dust on the dresser....

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the Price (& my wife LOVES IT)

Pros: Great little tablet for the price. Bought it for my wife who is no gadget girl but she said IF I updated my tablet then she would like my old one. With the price of tablets, especially mine (Samsung Tab 2) going UP and not down, I will NOT be updating and time soon, so I bought this for her, for our anniversary (today 2/2/14).

Cons: True this is not the fastest and it does NOT have bluetooth, which is CRAZY for tablets. Most people using tablets sooner or later buy a keyboard because they can then be use a tablet like a small laptop.

However, NO bluetooth!! But stull 5 stars, my wife would not use a keyboard any way, she like the Internet and the ability to char on it.

One reviewer, RobertB. said he updated the firmware and it works MUCH BETTER and faster NOW. Therefore, we should all try that.

It's small for a 7" tablet because even though it has a 7" screen, the bezel (frame) around the screen is smaller than usual and now I cannot find a case that fits well.

THAT is NOT a small problem! I know one fellow that had that problem and it fell out and broke the screen on his BRAND NEW tablet!

The length is the same but the width is 1/4" smaller! And it is thinner too, so smaller in width and thickness makes it difficult to find a case THAT SMALL, and still hold it secure!

It is also a little slower than my Samsung but not by much (see review by RobertB. to speed it up). Also battery life is not that great, I knew that when I ordered it, specs say it is only a 3000mAh verses most come with a 4000mAh bat.

Other than those 3 points, NO COMPLAINTS...

Other Thoughts: The PLUSES: RAM 1 GB (not 500 MB like the cheaper ones) and 16 GB for storage ( 8 GB like so many have); includes a mini HDMI port (no cable included); a micro USB for transfers and charging (some have proprietary plugs, which are a PAIN, I have Samsung, so its nice to have a standard micro USB); includes a 2G/3G PHONE! Like WOW - for $99 (sale price). HOW MUCH are they charging for smartphones these days, hummm? I tried buying a unlocked smartphone to use in Europe, like $500 to $600 for a good one and still $150 and up for a CHEAP ONE.

4 out of 5 eggsGet the new firmware !

Pros: Price. quality , size

Cons: It was BAD before the firmware update. The unit would hang up, reboot and sometimes not connect to the WiFi until a hard reboot.

I installed the firmware update from the MSI web sight and it was a new tablet ! quick and responsive,

Other Thoughts: I am glad I waited to post this review, I was very disappointed with this tablet until I installed the new firmware, which I found a bit complicated. However after the update the tablet came to life. 1 star off for the hassle of having to update a new tablet .

Works great now

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet for the price

Pros: Happy with this tablet. For the price I think I found one of the better ones out there.

Cons: Only con would be the shipping method. Went cheap during holidays, and it took a very long time to get here.
It would have been better to ship using US Mail.

Other Thoughts: Accessories are hard to find, not one of the popular brands out there. But again, for the price, you really can't go wrong. I am Thinking about getting another one.
