5 out of 5 eggsI got a good one I think

Pros: Updated to andriod 4.4 This tablet seems very awesome, fast, batter is fairly good for a tablet this size and power. I love how sleek it is. Has a separate gpu.

Cons: Sound is bad, very quiet.

Other Thoughts: People complaining about battery life in this tablet should realize it has a cpu and a separate gpu. A tablet this size and how slim it is, the battery does not last as long as other models. when sitting there the thing hardly sips the battery. The update to 4.4 fixed most of the issues I had with the tablet. MSI does need to fix their website, or higher a better web programmer. I have noticed several apps I use on my andriods are not compatible with this model, but I side loaded them all and all of them work.

5 out of 5 eggsBest coaster I've ever owned

Pros: Thinking I was purchasing a tablet computer, I discovered to my surprise that instead I had received a high-quality, double-size coaster which has that high-tech design so rarely to be found in ordinary household items.

Cons: I sent it back the first time because the power cord kept falling out so that I couldn't charge it. MSI sent me a new tablet but returned the same power cord. I started looking more closely and realized that the power cord was so much larger than its socket that it was damaging the socket. I contacted MSI again, returned both tablet and power cord again (it was falling out of the socket again by this time) and they repaired the socket and sent me a new power cord, while adding that the whole thing was my fault for not treating the tablet "gently" enough and that they were under no obligation to repair it again. All went well for about a month. The new power cord did not fall out, the tablet charged in half the time it ever had and for some reason there was even more room on the SD card. Eventually, however, the power cord started falling out again. I tried using other power cords of the same type and found one that worked well. After a couple of weeks it started falling out as well and the tablet was transformed into the lovely item of household decor it is today. Fortunately, I only bought the MSI as a stopgap while saving up for a better quality tablet and I am now happily tripping over to Samsung with the additional benefit of hearing people make such remarks as, "You aren't putting your glass on that, are you?" Hence the five stars. I expected a poor quality computer when I bought this thing, (I got it on sale for $75 plus a $25 rebate) that's exactly what I got, but its usefulness as a coaster and conversation piece was an unexpected plus. The repairs done on the socket were of poor quality or the socket was made of tin foil. I'm a jewellery maker, I do gentle.

Other Thoughts: If you want a decent quality tablet from a responsible manufacturer, the Primo 81 is not what you're looking for. You might try one of the less expensive Samsung models. I've also heard good things about the Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality. After replacement the battery calibration is still incorrect

Pros: None.

Cons: I bought this tablet a month ago. It was a gift coming with my MSI GT 70. After I got it and played with it for a while, the battery decreased to about 75%. Then it accidentally shut down without any sign. Moreover, it could not be turned on again no matter how long I pressed the power button. Finally, I discovered that the battery had already drained off when the calibration is still 75%! This was unacceptable and I immediately issued a RMA. Because it was a gift product, I could only asked for a replacement. After two weeks of wait, I finally got a new one today. But what shocked me was that THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST! The tablet stopped to work when the battery is still 80%! So what can I say? Is this a deficiency for all the tablets of this series? Or MSI simply wants the customers to manually root the tablet and calibrate the battery by themselves? I am so disappointed and get exhausted for issuing another RMA. Probably I will never consider any low-price MSI product in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsFair when working

Pros: Android 4.4 update available. Nice IPS screen. Operates smoothly. 4x3 aspect ratio great for books. Reasonable price on sale.

Cons: Motherboard burned up when watching a movie. Wi-Fi signal lost after sleeping. Mediocre build quality. No Bluetooth. No GPS. No 3G or 4G. Manufacture would not honor rebate.

Other Thoughts: MSI usually means quality and I expected a bit more from them. Better you just buy an old iPad mini for a few bucks more and save the headaches.

4 out of 5 eggsAuto-Rotate not working

Pros: Good Built

Cons: Auto-rotate does not work. No gyroscope.

Other Thoughts: This is a follow up on my previosus posting. Called MSI and the support staff asked me to reset to 4.4 default setting. Auto-rotation function still not working. I installed gyroscope apps the apps does not detect gyroscope in the tablet. MSI, how could I get the auto-rotate to work without gyroscope? The previous 'snow-white' version, auto-rotate works. Without auto-rotate, it is diffcult to use the tabet.

4 out of 5 eggsAuto-Rote Not Working

Pros: This is my second Primo 8. I love the first purchase and still working great. Purchased the black Primo 8 this time, upgraded to Andriod 4.4 everything worked fine except the 'auto-rote' function. I checked and make sure it is 'auto-rote' int setting. I believe the G-censor is not working right.

Cons: Auto-Rote not working. I believe the G-censor is not working.

Other Thoughts: MSI can improve on QA process. I need an RMA

4 out of 5 eggsPrimo 8

Pros: This is my second Primo 8. The first one for my wife. Price is lower and built is solid and support android 4.4

Cons: Upgraded to Andriod 4.4 as soon as I received it. However the auto-rotation does not work. I did set 'auto-rotate' on the setting. Looks like the G-censor is not working properly.

Other Thoughts: I have very good experience with my first Primo 8. MSI quality control is not consistent.

4 out of 5 eggsupgraded to 4.4 fr0m msi site

Pros: its a tablet, its android/linux is upgradable to newest firmware by going to manufactures website.
http://us.msi.com/support/windpad/Primo_81.html#down-driver
For under a $100 not bad

Cons: Audio isnt much but who'd expect suround sound from a micro speaker placed at the back. a front speaker would have made sound more direct but than again tablets and coffee go together and accidently spilling coffee on current design makes more sense. Battery life seems short but havent fine tuned 4.4 and usb debugging mode in most tablets drains power so disable it if you enabled it after upgrade(does automaticlly but check).

Other Thoughts: Be nice if tablets had combo slot for SSD drive/extended life battery.

1 out of 5 eggsnice tablet if......

Pros: Seems fast enough, Runs anything i threw at it well. Camera takes decent pics for a cheap tablet. The video quality is GREAT compared to even more expensive tablets.

Cons: As others have said sound can be barely audible. The biggest problem is no battery life at all once I did the 4.4 update. The battery drains even with it plugged in. In trying to go through msi's online support ticket I cant start a ticket because this tablet isn't listed in their menus. The new version of android does not suit this tablet at all and I cant find a way to flash it back to the original. I cannot get any form of flash media to work with it.

Other Thoughts: What would have been a good tablet is rendered useless by a terrible operating system. This tablet seems to be limited by its firmware. Its a shame that what was a nice tablet has fallen through the cracks of its own firmware support.
