1 out of 5 eggsDOA and disappointed

Pros: Box came without damage, laptop looked great. Shipping was pretty quick. Unfortunately...

Cons: Really 0 stars. Once the computer was turned on, it locked up at the license acceptance page, then began a endless reboot loop into the BIOS and self rebooted. After holding down the power button, letting it sit, and restarted it. Then it reboot cycled through windows recover several times. In addition, the battery does not charge. Not cool MSI.

Other Thoughts: Yay, I got to spend $25 to ship a $2300 DOA computer back to Newegg. Thanks MSI! (Please note, happy with Newegg, unhappy with MSI). Will update pros/cons once my replacement arrives.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop.

Pros: Pretty
Great keyboard / touchpad layout
Case is well designed, good airflow for a laptop
Fast

Cons: Webcam housing looks like it may have come with protective shipping plastic on it, after trying to remove it with my fingernail I realized that it did not, and i had put a couple minor scratches. Barely a con, just wont want anyone to make the same mistake as I did.

Steelseries keyboard software is terrible. I haven't found a way to stop it from popping up in my face whenever I launch windows without disabling it completely, but then I get no pretty lights on my keyboard

I was able to switch out the 1tb hdd with an ssd without voiding the warranty, but I would be very careful doing this. I was afraid I was going to break the frame on the bottom because I had to bend it up quite a bit to get the old hdd out and the new one installed.

Other Thoughts: I have resisted using windows 8 until buying this laptop, and I decided to give it a try when I more or less failed at installing windows 7 (could get it running if I had some time to spend, just couldn't get drivers for the wifi going with the driver disk) Ill update this review once I do install windows 7, and let you guys know If i was able to get all the hardware features working properly (keyboard, touch bottons at the top, etc.)

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Great looking rig, really "gamer" oriented style/design, the screen is really awesome i.e. having 2880x1620 is really easy on the eyes!

Cons: I actually had to return the first laptop due to a funky screen issue so that initially concerned me with quality.

Second issue I noticed after playing a few different game... i.e. Skyrim among others. Firstly I didnot mention there was a shared mem integrated video card in there (Not sure if all new laptops are set up this way now by my 3 year old laptop had direct access tot he video card and but seem to run skyrim similarly... I expected this new one to really rock)

I also experienced this on other games both older gen and new/current gen.... I would expect this laptop to rock them nicely with high FPS. Seems like all the games only detect the integrated video card. While looking on line for a solution i found that you can set the NVidia card to be primary through the NVidia control panel but all the games still use the integrated card. I even ran the games directly with the context menu option (Run with graphics processor -> highend...) but all the games still only seem to detect the integrated video card... For the 2300 bucks I paid for this machine, I expected more performance. I wish the specification mentioned there was a primary integrated / shared memory video card on this laptop. I probably would not have bought it then. Disappointed unless I can figure out how to directly use the Nvidia card and get my game frame rates up... its advertised as a gaming rid therefor I expect it to act as one with out having to jump through a ton of hoops to get good performance

Other Thoughts: I will redact this review if someone can tell me how to bypass the integrated video card. From all the complaints i have seen on line (google "msi integrated graphics laptop" and you'll get tone of people having this same issue with solutions that don't really seem to help)

5 out of 5 eggsSolid laptop

Pros: The 3K screen res is absolutely phenomenal, crystal clear and just stunning! The onboard speakers are solid and can put out quite a lot of dB's with great sounding audio. The whole build is solid and sturdy, no flimsy pieces or buckling keyboards. GPU can handle anything that you can throw at it with plenty to spare.

Cons: The fan can get quite loud especially when playing the demanding games we all know and love. I've been playing games on ultra settings at 3k res and it kicks the fan into high gear soon after starting. But plugging in some headphones into the jack can completely isolate the fan noise, or you can just crank the speakers up. The case is a fingerprint magnet but take a microcloth to it and they wipe up easy enough.

Other Thoughts: Great laptop! You won't be disappointed with it!

4 out of 5 eggsblazing fast, but broken internet

Pros: Extremely fast, wonderful screen, doesn't get too hot.

Cons: Apparently, their is a known bug with it's wifi adapter...that makes it so that it only works with Wireless B/G signals, despite being advertised as wireless AC! When I contacted support, they said the only option was to replace the network adapter, even though they said all the cards in that series had the problem.
