5 out of 5 eggsnioce

Pros: Amazing gaming laptop. Got this for my fiance she loves it. Runs everything she wants to play on high/max settings. looks down right amazing. Give this laptop 2 thumbs up.

Cons: seems like if you push the mouse pad to hard it hits the space key. not a big issue. only thing she is having issues with. or could just be her.....

Other Thoughts: Just a nice laptop with an amazing gtx 860 inside.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Beastly

Pros: Everything is pretty awesome, very strong computer.
Very good on the price for what specs are given.

Cons: I only have a couple problems with it...
1. It gets pretty hot on the left side, and when i play games, my hand tends to sweat and get uncomfortable. but its not all that bad. The extra fan that you can turn off and on, i dont feel like it helps and almost makes it hotter sometimes, though maybe im not using it right, but i would think that you would want another fan for when your playing high end games, like Far Cry 3.
2. The battery that it came with was kinda sad, it must be plugged in to be able to run game at full potential. Not that big of a deal though considering im gonna be plugged in and remaining in one spot for when im playing. so being plugged in isnt much of an issue.
3. Windows 8.1.... enough said....

Other Thoughts: Even though i have these cons with it, i still give it a 5 egg rating.

4 out of 5 eggsMSI GE Series GE70 - Good machine with only two drawbacks, bad customer service

Pros: The machine is excellent, it can handle every game I've thrown at it on highest graphic settings, has a large screen with excellent resolution and a durable case. A very good gaming rig.

Cons: The machine has two major drawbacks however.

First, it runs HOT. Cooling pad required. Playing a cpu intensive game without a cooling pad I hit a cpu temperature of 90 degrees celsius, so it seems whatever cooling the machine has is inadequate. The left side in particular, where the fan is, gets hot, and the space between the mousepad and keyboard often gets untouchably hot.

Second, it seems that it either has a bad wireless driver or that its wireless capabilities are simply bad. While the specifications page advertises high connection speeds, in reality after unboxing and setup I was unable to get past 250Kbps. Using the disk that came with the device, I uninstalled and reinstalled the WLAN driver and it was a little bit better, getting me to about 500 Kbps, but still no where near what was advertised or what would be appropriate for a gaming computer. My suspicion was that the provided WLAN driver was bad and that if I found a better one it would be acceptable. I emailed MSI customer service, and never heard back from them, which shocks me because MSI is usually good about their customer support.

Other Thoughts: The machine itself gets 4 eggs. A cooling pad can minimize the heat problem, and I suspect a WLAN driver update would fix the wireless issue. The customer service was bad and nearly convinced me to give this 3 eggs, but this review is on the machine, not poor customer service.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Money vs Value

Pros: For your money to power factor, this laptop is great. For gaming there really very little difference for i5 to i7 right now, and I don't see it being required anytime soon. The 8gb is more than enough for now. The 860M is a good video card. Very light. Solid structure for a low cost laptop.

Cons: HEAT! I have had many gaming laptops, and I know that heat is a common issue, but this is is crazy. The turbo fan has to be on for anything other than simple usage. Even when on, high end games turn this thing to an oven. Cooling pad is required, else your going to run into shut downs and a lessened machine lifespan. I can't imagine how this thing will be after it ages when it's cooling system is not 100%.
When first using out of the box your losing over 30% of your memory. The bloat ware is not that bad, but what it has is a hog. After removing the regular hogs (the keyboard light up takes up a stupid amount of memory, I know it does other stuff too, but really...) , I have it down to 15% to 18% usage with nothing else open. Anyone not knowing how to, or that it's a good idea to do this, may not get 100% out of their machine.
The track pad is one of the worse I have even seen. I normally use a mouse anyways, but still, they could have done somewhat better.

Other Thoughts: With a good cooling pad, and a mouse, this laptop is a great deal. (you can spend twice as much for what really amounts to a small increase in power)
A tip; you can always upgrade to a SSD or up the ram in the future if need be. Chances are the price will come down on both over time. (though opening it up does void the warranty) Both are easy to do upgrades.
If MSI is reading this, you may want to look at better heat solutions in the future. This is marketed as a gaming laptop. Even low end games cause this thing to heat up quickly. Cooling pads really shouldn't be required.
Over all however, this laptop is right in the sweet spot for cost to power. Unless you ready to spend a bunch more money to get a notable effect, get this. (and a cooling pad)

4 out of 5 eggsgreat machine

Pros: for the price this is an excellent gaming machine. some FPS drop but nothing to cry about.

Cons: HOT! The space between the spacebar and the touchpad can get untouchable. I run my machine on a laptop tray with fans.

Windows 8

Other Thoughts: again for the money it is a great gamine machine.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice build quality, good keyboard, great price-performance. Screen quality is superb with great blacks and matte finish. Awesome light up dragon emblem on back.

Cons: However, the wireless and cooling system leaves a lot to be desired. It appears the wireless driver included with the pc was bad, as an update fixed the dropping signal. The system can run hot as well, especially the left side.

Other Thoughts: The computer I was given had a broken W key, and a replacement is being obtained.

3 out of 5 eggsLike a nice apple with some big bad spots

Pros: The graphics card is powerful enough to run anything I've thrown at it, with flying colors, as is the processor. The screen is nice and big, and in spite of a powerful set of chips inside, the laptop is nice and thin and light.

Cons: The touchpad is absolutely atrocious and seems cheap. I use my gaming laptops for gaming, in environments where a mouse would be tough to use, and my past laptops have had touchpads suited to this. This one doesn't have any buttons (the pad itself clicks when pressed) and frequently "ghost clicks" or reads a right click as a left click/vice versa. The wireless may be defective as it keeps cutting out to about 200 kb/s with a 200 ms ping, while all other devices on the same network work fine. The headphone jack is so tight, it took me 3 days to realize I wasn't jamming the plug in far enough, and it took even more effort to get it OUT. Runs a bit hot, though the cooler boost helps.

Other Thoughts: Think twice if you normally use a touchpad for gaming. I may be seeking a refund if the wireless at least doesn't resolve itself within the 30 day limit.

5 out of 5 eggsGlorious gaming laptop

Pros: Great gaming performance, 60fps in CSGO on maxed settings, as well as 60fps in DayZ SD, and JustCause 2 (VSYNC Enabled).
Great design
Backlit keyboard is cool
Nice keyboard design
Lots of USB ports for easy connections
Turbo Fan button for gaming sessions
Simple to change backlit keyboard settings
1080p screen is crisp and clear
Temps stay below 85 (C) w/o cooler, could be better
Great packaging
CPU is able to handle a lot of multitasking; Again, could be better (i5!)

Cons: Mild bloatware
Gets hot, but still at decent running temps
Slow 5400 rpm hard drive
Loud fan
i5 Processor, recommend getting i7 model.

Other Thoughts: After 3 days with the laptop, I can say certainly that it was a good buy. It competes with other cheaper gaming laptops, such as Lenovo's y510p with SLI, Everything functioned perfectly out of the box. Only complaints is that the webcam is pretty bad, but I personally will not be using it so it doesn't affect me.

I definitely recommend getting a laptop cooler - this beast hovers around 40 Degrees Celsius when browsing, and can get up to a toasty 83 degrees (Currently my highest temp) when under load. You have to turn the turbo fan on, otherwise it could get to an uncomfortable 90 degrees. When turbo fan is on, it gets pretty loud, but it does make a difference of up to 15 degrees.

If you can afford it, get this beast. It looks amazing (With the brushed aluminum), and performs like a similarly priced desktop. However, if you can afford it, you should get the i7 model. The extra two cores will serve you well; this can multitask well, but i7 would of course be better.

Plus, remember Windows 8. It takes a lot of getting used to, but its worth it in the end.

Good luck on your laptop-seeking journey!

(PS: Yes, this comes with the 860m 2GB, i5-4200h, and Killer LAN networking)
