3 out of 5 eggsbe verry carefull

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: super awesome as a gaming laptop great features the software and hardware for the most part is amazing

Cons: the build is flimsy, its outside is super thin flimsy plastic on the outside so picking it up you have to be carefull with it. it may break easy but im not sure yet. it came with alot of norton programs installed that kept removing some of my video game program files and refused to let me download some games that had file downloaders

Other Thoughts: it could have been made stronger like to last ware and tear as well as super good insides

5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: -Very Fast
-Great Graphics for Gaming
-Stays cool even after 6 hours of gaming with high settings
Price
-Weight, it is lighter then i expected
-Built in Temp gauge for CPU and GPU, lets you know if the system is getting to hot which has not happened yet even with 6 hours to straight gaming.

Cons: Only issue i have with the laptop is, it has Windows 8.1 and didn't come with an option to downgrade and when and if i have to use the cooler boost it is a little loud. But i rarely have to use it and would still rather have the noise from the booster then a fried computer.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Fantastic Laptop

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: Build quality seems quite nice. Screen is fantastic, good color, bright, and glare free. (I prefer matted screens). It's plenty fast and powerful enough for what I do, mostly using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with some light gaming thrown in at times. (Borderlands 2 Mostly) The on board speakers sound just fine and are plenty loud. Wireless performance is quite good. The Steel Series keyboard is quite good and the textured trackpad doesn't bother me at all despite other's reviews to the contrary. Overall finish is excellent and does not show fingerprints much at all. Removal of bottom panel to access memory and hard drive couldn't be easier, though you may want to see the other thoughts below.

Cons: Thus far, I can honestly say I have no real cons.

Other Thoughts: Some have noted that there is a "Warranty void if tampered with" decal covering one of the holes on the HDD and Memory access panel. I've contacted MSI and was promptly greeted with an actual human. He assured me that "This will not void your warranty, provided you don't break anything while you're in there". I asked that he email that statement to me to serve as a written record. He complied. I've upgraded the hard drive to a Samsung Evo SSD, and added one more 8gb stick of RAM. The laptop now preforms even better.

4 out of 5 eggsCool laptop

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: Good for the price
Good performance
Good Overall look

Cons: The touch pad or track pad as some call, has that rough ridged design I'm sure it's there for a reason and maybe needs time to get used to.

Another con which isn't bad when my package arrived it was defective the touch pad wouldn't work properly when the power cord or the Ethernet cord was plugged in, I sent it back to replace it.

Other Thoughts: I won't have a problem using it in the future when I receive it again but if you really don't like ridged touch pads should really check out other MSI laptops :)

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Laptop, Screwy trackpad

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: Great performance for the dollar. Screen looks great, no dead pixels or anything like that. Battery life is acceptable. Sound is great.

Cons: Really the only thing that is really bothering me about this laptop is the trackpad. If you are pressing a key on the keyboard, you can't move the mouse on the trackpad. This makes gaming pretty difficult because you can't really move your mouse while you character is moving. Very frustrating, but solved with a mouse.

2 out of 5 eggsreally rough so far

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: Solid construction, pretty good graphics card, and easy on the eyes.
Oh also it starts up, that's about it.

Cons: Okay, the real downfall of this laptop is windows 8.1. I ordered a 30 GB SSD, just enough for a speedy boot into windows, no bigie. Normally I would take out the included windows recovery disk and do a fresh install on the SSD

HOWEVER, MSI did not include a recovery disk and on top of this, if you open the bottom of the computer up to install a SSD OR RAM for that matter, your warranty is now void!

I've spent all day looking for a way to create a recovery disk to install windows on my new drive, but since the windows key isn't retail I can't legally download an iso of windows 8.1 for a proper install.

Is this some kind of joke? No freedom to install the OS on my drives, and NO freedom to install additional hardware? I should have bought a mac!

Other Thoughts: Going back to school this week it should have been easy to get this laptop up to running speed over the weekend, now I'm going to have to call MSI support during their business hours and request a recovery disk that should have been included with the laptop to begin with.

If there is any fee attached to this disk I'm sending the laptop right back - oh wait I can't because I've already voided the warranty, oops!
I'll come back with a proper review once MSI has fixed their flaws.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed!

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: I needed a rig for gaming on the go and for the price, this is the best bang for the buck! I was debating between this and the Lenovo y510p, however after reading reviews, I would rather sacrifice some performance for lower temps. This machine runs everything I throw at it on Med-High settings while temps have not gotten above 60c after hours of gaming. A MUST HAVE!!!

Cons: Windows 8

Other Thoughts: I never used Win8 before, and within 30 minutes my mind was made up... I replaced it with Win7. Downgrading to Win7 was a breeze. The MSI site has all the required drivers and everything is running perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic buy for a student gamer on a budget

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: Excellent screen, lightweight for a gaming laptop, solid keyboard, nice speakers, good overall build quality.

Cons: Trackpad is a little cramped, but still usable. Webcam is disappointingly blurry, but I personally will barely use it anyways.

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop to serve as both a gaming computer and a laptop I can carry to class with me to take notes. I'm extremely pleased with it one week into ownership. It's capable of running Skyrim on High without a single dropped frame, and without getting all that hot. I've carried it around my city in a backpack and it hasn't been excessively heavy. There are better gaming laptops out there that are lighter, but on a college student's budget, this is a godsend.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop!

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: Great performance for the price. Would definitely recommend.

Cons: Only downside is plastic like exterior, but I think it's to cut down on weight because it's already a little heavy as is.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I really like the laptop, and will probably recommend to friends and buy an MSI in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch games.

This review is from: MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-010 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i5 4200M (2.50GHz) 8GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB 15.6" Windows 8.1 Multi-language

Pros: Bought this for myself to go on vacation and have a better and powerful portable device.

Good value for the money, i5 processor and video card are well enough for medium gaming along homework ;). With just a little more money you could get i7 and again with little more you can get better performing video card. This was the right balance of performance versus value for us.

Laptop is well built, screen and keyboard are (again) great for the value! You have got all connectivity options and optical drive.

Cons: No cons here! The laptop is great

Other Thoughts: Wow. Such game. Very powerful. Much resolution. Pls yes
