5 out of 5 eggsLoving it

Pros: Great graphics, lightwieght compared to my dell, plays WOW very well, webcam is fun to play with, great price for what I got. Very responsive keyboard. I like the size isnt bulky but not too small either.

Cons: Does show fingerprints but isnt hard to clean. Bloatware but that comes with every new retail comp. Unable to use my usb headset. Unsure why this is and haven't played with it much to try to figure it out.

Other Thoughts: For the price and specs you cant do much better. Would of liked intel over amd but at the price and other options I can live without it. Does get warm but not nearly as hot as my previous laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing, simply amazing

Pros: This Laptop right out of the box was Amazingly fast, this is my first laptop but I also have an HP Pavilion desktop that is not even half as fast as this, for $1000 you can get a laptop that can play Crysis at medium, and a year warranty, This is the perfect laptop for under $1000.

Cons: The only cons I can think of is that it has a TON of bloatware and it smudges and attracts dust very quickly.

Other Thoughts: Perfect, Well done HP, well done. Thanks to Newegg for making this price possible.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat system with poor battery life

Pros: The dv6-1268nr has great build quality and a bright LED LCD with very good color saturation. The keyboard is rock-solid although a little too glossy. The ATI 4650 uses GDDR3 RAM and it is a very fast graphics card for the money. The lid and case are very solid and well-built.

Cons: I cannot recommend this system to someone who wants to wander very far from their charger. I returned the system to the store, but during the week that I had it I never got more than 1 hour/30 minutes battery life from it. And, to make matters worse, I had to set it to power saver mode to get that battery life, and the system was sluggish on power saver. Also, be forewarned that the SD card reader on the dv4/6 series is cr*p. If you insert the card deep enough to be read, you may have a hard time getting it back out as the reader is not spring loaded like on many other systems.

Other Thoughts: Overall - this is still a great system for the money. I don't think you can find any other system with ATI 4650 graphics in this price range. I did not purchase this system from NewEgg.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Pavilion dv6

Pros: HP quality, which is always outstanding. This laptop is fast, handles World of Warcraft beautifully(yes, I got it as a cheap/portable gaming solution, haven't tested other games yet), the specs are more than good enough to play games - Radeon HD 4650 at this price is amazing. Did I mention cheap? I got it during the sale and I would buy it again, even though it's increased in price now. Seems like it would weigh more due to it's dimensions but it's actually fairly light. Overall Windows Index score is 5.0, which is only due to the cpu, but other components scored around 5.9 - see cons.

Cons: Bloatware - not that bad, just takes a little time to remove them. As others have said, this thing attracts fingerprints, you just have to be careful. The spot where the gpu is located does get warm, but that's to be expected, just invest in a laptop cooler. I like AMD but the processor, AMD Turion x2 Ultra isn't as fast as a Core 2 Duo, but at this price I don't mind the slight decrease in performance.

Other Thoughts: This laptop is very solid for it's price, and is a very good choice for any casual users and/or students. The fact that it can handle games well at this price range is just gravy. If you're contemplating about buying it, stop contemplating and buy it already! That price for HP quality can't be beat.

4 out of 5 eggsA good computer

Pros: Good screen, good response, fast bootup time, good multitasking abilities, excellent specs.

Cons: The widescreen is shorter vertically than a standard screen, the keyboard and touchpad smudge easily, the software is full of bloat and crashes at times.

Other Thoughts: This computer replaces a Compaq M2000. It's vastly superior to my old computer in every way except for the keyboard, which smudges easily. I have still not seen a computer that matches its performance-to-price ratio. Its internal temperatures are about the same as any HP. Vista crashes quite a bit-I'm glad Windows Explorer can restart without my having to restart the system, something XP couldn't do. The bloatware is obnoxious but you can clear it out. Overall, this computer is fun to use and I'm very confident in its ability to handle any application I would use on it. I look forward to finally getting to buy and play the occasional game between classes.

5 out of 5 eggsLotta' Bang for the Buck

Pros: This computer is a replacement for my 5 year old HP zv5410 and what a difference!!!! Really fast and very solid. The heat problem does not seem as bad as some have described it. If the computer is positioned where the vents are not obstructed it does not appear to run any hotter than my old one with an Athlon 3000+ processor.
I believe, for the average user, this is a great computer at a fantastic Newegg price!!!

Cons: Windows Vista!!!!! Although I have used Vista on a limited basis, this is my first personal encounter with it.....I am looking forward to the Windows 7 upgrade....
At present I am considering a downgrade to XP!!!

Other Thoughts: I am an AMD fan and was really happy to find this package at a great price. I have always used Nvidia graphics and this is my first encounter with ATI....I am very Impressed. As a comparison I attempted to build as close to the same computer as possible at a manufacturer's web site.......The final price was hundreds more than Newegg even after the $150 discount they offered.

5 out of 5 eggsGaming Power

Pros: 2.2 GHz 64 bit Dual Core AMD Processor, ATI Radeon 4650 1GB graphics card. This thing FLIES (for most stuff)! The heat Isn't really an issue. ESP compared to other comparable systems. My DELL XPS overheats alot. This thing really only needs a cooler if you run it max all the time. Plays Aion: Tower of Eternity on max settings. Plays most of my other games on max settings. Didn't really buy this FOR gaming but it does surprisingly well.

SOLID sturdy construction! This thing is BUILT to last. The keyboard on this is nice and solid! Key-sets don't even flex under heavy-handed typing when I'm really going at it.

Cons: Not sure if this is an issue with the Video card type , but this thing chugs badly on HD video, even youtube HD videos. This could be an issue with some of the bloatware(incompatibility?) I removed most of it, but not all yet. Bloatware is a definite CON! My DELL XPS system came with NO bloatware. This is loaded heavily with it. Still trying to remove it all.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a DELL XPS system that I started having serious problems with not too long after I got it. (Yes, it can definitely stand up to one of those performance-wise)

If you buy this, make sure to do a clean install. That may be my only other option. If you try to do a restore install of Windows using the backup functionality, it reloads all the bloatware as well. Get yourself a standard Vista or Windows 7 DVD first. I haven't tried Windows XP on this at all so no comment there.

ALL-in-ALL This system has some VERY impressive specs and solid sturdy construction. There is a bottleneck some were though that I can't seem to pinpoint. It seems like it should run a LOT faster and be a lot more responsively than it does.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Amazing value; fantastic performance; Windows 7 Upgrade; great looks.

Cons: Battery life leaves quite a bit to be desired, but that is to be expected given the performance of the laptop. Heat is not at all as great an issue as many have claimed. I have used Alienware and similarly-priced high performance units, and those machines can quite literally burn your fingers! This laptop is nowhere near as warm as the multi-thousand dollar gaming laptops.

HP "bloatware" is annoying. I wiped the drive and installed Windows 7, optimized it, etc.

Other Thoughts: A basic laptop cooler such as the Antec or Rosewill unit will quell any potential heat issues, although you do not technically needed the cooler for day-to-day use with light multimedia/gaming.

If, however, you utilize the laptop like a desktop in full performance mode with consistent 100% CPU utilization, then additional cooling will be needed (again, the Rosewill or Antec cooler).

4 out of 5 eggsnot bad

Pros: this laptop is awesome, the graphic card and everything, runs all my games fine without lagging, you can't get a laptop like this with this price!

Cons: one things true about this laptop, it is HOT it gets really hot after a while. thats why i gave it a 4

Other Thoughts: ya, it would be so much better, if the CPU is not amd but oh well still amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Machine

Pros: Excellent display, great graphic card, very shiney. Minimal bloatware.
great value for the money.

Cons: very shiney, so-so battery life.

Other Thoughts: I needed a new machine to replace my aging DV9000. This machine for the value provided the best video and processor combo for the cash.
