5 out of 5 eggsGamers Delight

Pros: Intel core 2 duo
DDR3 4GB
320 GB HD 7200 RPM
Great Display
Great VideoCard
Awesome Little Remote - Perfect for when i hook this up to my 60 inch LCD TV for movies with the wife.
Off button for mouse pad this is a PLUS for me!!

This laptop has played each game listed below flawlessly
Borderlands
WorldShift
Ghost Busters
Prototype
Dragon Age
WOW
DDO
Age Of empires 3
Dirt 2
Left for dead 1 and 2
HL1 and 2
Counter Strike Source

All these games with no problems... I had to break it down for you gamers because looking at everyone elses post they really didnt give you a good heads up.

Cons: I hate the bloatware that is a big con for me.
I hate that they use 30 gigs of the HD for recovery on this laptop.

Other Thoughts: IF you do get this and you are a tech guy like my self and have a windows 7 ultimate key make sure to format and install. I put 64bit on this and man does it fly with that 7200RPM drive installed. Trust me a must buy for a low price gaming machine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop/Poor battery life

Pros: As powerful as an average desktop. Nice size for a laptop. Runs mid-level games and Photoshop easily. Great keyboard...for a laptop. Windows 7 pre-installed. E-sata for back-up drives.

Cons: Battery life (1.5 hrs). Fingerprints wreck the nice appearance fairly quickly.

Other Thoughts: You don't really realize how short 1.5 hrs. really is, until you buy this laptop. Don't get me wrong, it's a great performing laptop, but if you can't sit next to a power supply and you need a laptop to work for more than (say an hour to be safe), don't buy this one. Otherwise, price/performance... can't go wrong with this.
Ordered form Newegg Saturday night, it was on my doorstep Monday afternoon... Nicely done Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely amazing

Pros: ++++ Amazing graphics card ++++
High end specs on everything... plays graphics-intense games on highest graphics settings with high fps.
It matches most $1200 laptops in performance, but only costs $750.

Cons: None really... some have said that it's a fingerprint-magnet, but that only seems to be true on the touchpad which I don't use..

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 is amazing as well... boot times are so much shorter than Vista... the taskbar is much better... and overall stability is way better. I've noticed that when programs crash/freeze the OS doesn't have any trouble handling it... even fullscreen games can be minimized easily when they're having issues.
The compatibility with previous versions is pretty good, but not perfect. One thing you should beware of is NOT to ignore the compatibility warnings it gives you when you try to install a program. I tried installing MagicISO and it gave me a notice that it has known compatibility issues... which I promptly ignored. Then I got a first-hand account of how Windows 7 can recover from device driver malfunctions which crash the operating system and prevent it from booting up again.. which it handled elegantly =)
Overall, Windows 7 is a huge improvement from Vista.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat features....but the LCD has issues

Pros: Great feature set for the price. Really the only other thing I could have asked for was Blu-Ray and wireless N, but to get both features would have been another $350. Frankly, it wasn't worth the extra money to get those two features.

Love the performance in Windows 7 and the included media remote. Pretty clever how it stores away in the expansion slot!

Cons: LCD has been slowly dying for the past three days. When I first received it, it has a bunch of very faint grey vertical lines in the display. I wrote it off to a viewing angle issue (they nearly disappear when viewed straight on) but it seems to be the first signs of a defective LCD. Now, wherever there are darker color transitions, there is a "shimmering" of the red sub-pixels, and now the blue ones have started acting up as well. Fortunately HP hasn't argued with me about it and a box to ship it off to have it fixed is on its way right now. I'm just disappointed that QC lets something like this through, as I'm evidently not the only person that has had this issue.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully this will be the only issue I'll have with the laptop, as it seems to be a really great value. I just wish there was a provision to RMA the laptop instead of sending it off to be repaired since I've had it for barely two weeks.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent computer

Pros: Everything on the inside (after junk is removed- see below)

Processor and memory are more than enough to keep up with some fairly demanding tasks and windows 7 helps a LOT if youre used to vista. Add in the ATI video card and memory and this computer rocks. I'm not a "gamer" however I run secondlife on it constantly with no lag at all even at max graphic settings which are probably just as demanding as any game out there. Speakers are good for a laptop and the volume slider/mute button is nice. It heats up a bit with high graphic demand but the fan does a decent job at keeping it from getting too hot. I leave it elevated on some homemade feet to help with the cooling a bit, but its not a necessity.

Cons: Everything on the outside, too much preloaded junk beyond the typical bloatware.

Its been a while since I owned an HP and forgot how much they put on their comps. Typical bloatware plus tons of unneeded HP specific junk. Prepare to do some uninstalling. The keyboard and mousepad arent aligned/centered with each other. I'm getting used to it, but its a different feel. I'm sure this is caused from the number pad on the side which I thought I would like having, but I'm thinking otherwise now. The wireless "button" is WAY too easy to hit being right beside the volume bar.. very bad location. The HP icon on the back of a lid could double as a night light.. almost amusing if it werent so annoying and no way to turn it off that I've seen. Dont plan on trying to sleep in the same room if youre going to leave it running. I thought the other "greasy fingerprint" reviews may have been nit picking and to a point it is just looks but its impossible to keep clean both on the cover and inside

Other Thoughts: PC decrapifier will be your friend. I ran it first thing after making the backup discs. Would have given it 4 eggs but the mouse constantly jumps across the screen for no reason at all and is enough to drive you insane. I was able to get it on the black friday sale and was worth the price I paid for it. If HP could fix, or tell me how to fix the mouse I would recommend buying it. Since thats not going to happen though I suggest doing some homework first and be sure this is what you really want.. and waiting for a good sale at minimum.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Surprissed by the speed of this computer considering the older Core 2 Duo and Chipset. Still this computer is impressive for the price. The Ati 4650 in this computer runs most games very well such as Dirt 2, Tomb Raider Underworld, Sims3, and WOW. Windows 7 is a dream come true especially when you turn off user account controls.

Cons: HOTTT POwer adapter when running intensive programs, battery life suffers because of the graphics chip but you buy this to save money and still play games not to compete with netbook battery life.

Other Thoughts: Finger print magnet mabe but it looks so good the same way a black mercedes would.

4 out of 5 eggsPrefect for my needs

Pros: Intel T6600 Core Duo 2 processor + ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics with 1gig dedicated RAM. For a great price!

Cons: Display isn't the best looking but still good. OS not provided on Disk, only backed up in a hard drive partition.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for college but I also wanted something I knew could handle more then MS Office. Searched all over the net for the features this laptop has and you can't beat this price.

I tried Oblivion on this machine and seems to run well. Haven't played many games, I have a computer built for gaming at home. But it appears to handle games very well. Wasn't expecting a hard core gaming laptop, just one that ran most modern games fairly well and this fits the bill.

The display isn't the best I've seen but still nice. Its very bright when plugged into a wall outlet. I noticed the colors didn't look right and took me a bit to realize there was too much blue, noticed this when looking at photos. Adjusted the blue gamma down to .75 and now the colors look better to me but not as good looking as my desktop monitor. Maybe a bit more tweaking is needed.

Its a fast machine with great features. Most software included could be useful. Yes it is a fingerprint magnet but I'm no that pi

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely Powerful for the Price

Pros: - Excellent graphics card (HD4650) - plays modern games such as Call of Duty: World at War and Empire: Total War at high settings.
- Fairly powerful processor
- Hard drive is fast for a laptop - 7200RPM!
- 4GB DDR3 RAM, faster than the DDR2 I use on my desktop
- Dedicated scroll pad is convenient.
- Fairly quiet operation for such a powerful laptop.

Cons: - Fan exhaust is designed very poorly. The back of the laptop is jacked up about half an inch, and two small vents allow air to flow down and out through that half-inch space. The exhaust air REALLY heats up whatever surface you are working on, and tends to just sit under your laptop and get hotter and hotter. Even worse, 75% of the hot air comes through one of the two vents, making that part of the laptop even hotter.

Other Thoughts: For all of you complaining that the volume controls use a program that minimizes whatever you have going on, it can be disabled by turning off the program. I'm not sure which one it is (maybe the HP MediaSmart), but I turned off all the HP bloatware startup programs and there is no sound popup or minimization when I used the volume controls anymore. The volume controls still work perfectly, but without minimizing any programs.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: - powerful video/processing/memory for a great gaming and entertainment laptop
-super quiet
-several port options, expansion card slot is major.
-has everything you'd need for desktop replacement. Webcam, mic, strong dx10 card, 768p graphics all included!
-comes with windows 7
-keyboard is very comfortable and super pleasant to type on. The best feeling keyboard I've used
-the speakers are kind of lame naturally, but they do project quite a distance.
-nifty touch pad for volume, mute, and wlan
-Quit a handsome machine, though every surface is super slippery making it prone to fingerprints. A shammy is included for cleaning though
-has a mysterious remote control that stores nicely in the expansion card slot
-2 headphone jacks plus an xtra mic jack
-dvd reader/burner works wonderfully
-the majority of HP's bloatware actually has some use
-the touchpad has a scroll bar and options for extra "zone" buttons
- ..wait for it.. Crysis is totally playable at all "High" settings

Cons: -The battery lasts for a max of 2 hours with regular use, probably less while gaming and the available 6 hour battery is so large that it turns your handsome laptop into a freak show
-The volume can only be controlled by the touchpad on the unit. This pad requires a service to be running in the background AND since every time you change the volume you are a technically running a program, whatever app you're running will be minimized! If you are running FFXI, this means an auto disconnect.
-The Recovery option doesnt include an OEM windows 7 disc. It's Hewlett Packard's own bloated version of it on a 20gb partition
-touchpad doesnt use 2 finger gestures
-the screen kinda blows. You get used to it, but it still blows. The viewing angles are horrendous if the screen is mostly black. If there are bright colors and whites, it's fine though.

Other Thoughts: Over all this machine took me by surprise. I thought that for the price it wouldn't be as good as my desktop, but considering the 4gb of ddr3 ram and the nice dual core intel processor, it's almost better than my desktop. It tranitions beautifully between programs and is just super comfortable and pleasant to use. It doesnt have a wireless draft n wifi built in, but that's what the expansion slot is for :)
A+ from a guy who hates laptops.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value!

Pros: Excellent for the price.
Can handle WOW with all graphics settings maxed out. I was shocked that it could handle full shadow settings in Dalaran.

Cons: No backlit keyboard.
