4 out of 5 eggsFirst impression

Pros: Looks nice and simple, maybe even plain (no lights really anywhere except for wifi and the power button). The multi touch is kind of neat, if you don't like the buttons, just tap it (except right click). It does take a bit getting of used to it, along with the keyboard. I keep hitting the calculator instead of ctrl. Bluetooth! Appears to work with my phone nicely and opens a new array of options. Esata, hdmi, and a led screen are a plus, wheres the fingerprint reader..? Others in it's series get it, this one got skeeted. My old dual core desktop is still going strong, this should be a decent on the go pc with more ram and newer everything! If I can get the speed of my desktop on the go... it's worth the upgrade, and the headaches!

edit after everything said an done: They offer a minimal restore, that's well, not as bloated.

Cons: Bios is completely locked, except maybe a boot order, nothing out of the ordinary. Bloated out completely. Huge install, restore, backup time due to the stuff they put on. I'm looking to get a clean install now. Restore disks won't work on an ssd alteast up to an 80gb, or even bigger, I don't know. Currently finding an alternative route to install it.

Other Thoughts: So I got me this wd 64gb out of my old notebook for this, then thinking wait a minute, by the time I add up the restore partition plus the OS, this isn't going to fit with much headroom if any. So I take out the x-25m out of my desktop and use it instead. After formatting it, thanks, cannot restore using the disks the laptop made. 5 dvds btw. What a pain in the leg that snoozes. To polish it, this laptop is too big for either of my laptop bags.

Didn't hatch from the egg.

If it is just stock, it's not a bad laptop. I love the integrated bluetooth, hdmi, and esata along with the led screen. Battery life seems a lot better than my old dv2000. It could just be the new battery though. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet since I've opened it, but I've been on it for most of the allocated time.

3 out of 5 eggsOperationally great, Layout not

Pros: Great size, speed, quiet, weight, bluetooth, lightscribe is really neat, windows 7, has yet to get close to getting hot.

Cons: (Starting with worst)
Pinch expand feature- with a larger touch pad your thumb tends to rest on it unknowlingly til you go to use the mouse using the other index finger and instead of moving the mouse your screen zooms in, I shut off that feature as soon as I could.
Keyboard- something about this keyboard throws me off! I use keyboards all the time and do the whole homerow, no looking necessary.. but I am constantly pressing capslock and shortcut keys on this computer while I am trying to tab.. maybe the spacing is funky?
Soft shell- already have several dings and I don't really travel with it (alot of them along the edge on hinge-side)
AC Adaptor placement- Its on the side of the computer so the cord is constantly pulled if you aren't sitting with the outlet on your right, I have a feeling I will be buying a new cord quickly.

Other Thoughts: Be home when it is out for delivery or it will be up for grabs to any neighbors or a lucky passerby.

5 out of 5 eggs"Champagne" Laptop

Pros: AMD Dual-core, 320 Gb 7200 rpm HDD , AMD Vision graphics, 128 Mb Sideport graphics memory, LED LCD screen, elegant "champagne" finish, Apple style chiclet keyboard.

Cons: HP factory installed software, which didn't last long once I unpacked the laptop and uninstalled it. Keyboard layout takes a little getting used to, but workable.

Other Thoughts: This laptop replaced an HP laptop I had for about 7 years, and it traveled well. I figured to give HP another look when I was in the market, compared it to Toshiba, Lenovo, and Asus. This had everything I wanted, faster hard drive, dual core AMD and superior ATI graphics! Since I build my own computers, I am used to having a "clean" install of Window OS, so I knew what I had to do once I got this HP-bloated software puppy. After cleaning it up, it runs much faster, and to my own specs. The unit is light, easy to carry, and stays fairly cool during long runs with web surfing or playing a game (WoW runs good on it) I took a liking to the elegant finish of the casing, and the LED screen is crystal clear and easy on the eyes. Battery run time is about 3-1/4 hours. This baby will keep me company while keeping tabs on my multiple team Fantasy football season!

3 out of 5 eggsnice, but I expected more

Pros: My whole reason for buying this laptop was because it had an AMD processor, Ati graphics card, and a Giga byte Ethernet card. I am grateful that this laptop does not have a glossy finish like the previous models I read about. HD ATI card gives this screen a great picture.

Cons: Keyboard: I don’t like the insert key being on the print screen key. I do not like the short cut keys next to the left side of the keyboard. I use the control key often and end up hitting the calc key when I do.
Mouse:
The mouse is very sensitive, so sensitive that when I type it moves my cursor when typing documents. That can be very annoying. Never had this problem with my dell latitude 110L.
Operating system speed:I had anticipated this problem prior to purchase: Windows software comes preload with no Windows install cd’s. That’s not a problem except all the junk software that came preloaded on the laptop. HP by default installs an OEM recovery partition on the hard drive. When I first started it, the laptop was really slow to start. I went and made HP recovery cd’s and install windows 7 pro to increase the laptop performance. Operating system load in less than 15 seconds on average now.
Processor:
Fast for normal tasks and some PC game play. Not recommended for PC games. W

Other Thoughts: Minor:
Shell for laptop is thin. This can be a double edge sword. Light weight, but light enough if I drop it can be seriously damaged.
Final thoughts: Consider getting a laptop fan if you’re going to be using this for gaming. Graphics card gets hot after being used for a couple hours.
Will be stuck using this thing for t he next 4 years. Should have saved more and went with a better machine, but I got what I paid for. This laptop is not for a PC professional
