1 out of 5 eggsonly lasted 3 months

Pros: Initially upon receipt I had to return this computer for a noise that sounded like something it was rolling around inside of it. Newegg returned it to me stating nothing found however the noise stopped. Imagine that! Once received for this second try it did work rather nicely until 3 months later it shut down on its own and never responded again

Cons: Only lasted 3 months and is non salvagable

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money.

3 out of 5 eggsWishing I had gone with smaller laptop

Pros: I like Windows 7, the screen is very large - good enough to watch a movie on, the system is pretty fast.

Cons: I have had problems with my keyboard since I got it. The letters just don't type when I hit them. Spaces or numbers too. It sometimes takes forever to type a sentence re-typing stuff. I emailed support and am waiting to see if any kind of repair might be covered. That is my only concern with ordering on an online site. I got this and loaded my stuff on it. If there is a problem, I don't want to send it somewhere, I just want to take it in. Hoping it is just a loose cable or something.

I also wish I had just picked a smaller laptop. The screen is nice and all, but it is large and cumbersome to carry around. I got this to replace my desktop which was stolen, so I thought I would want a big screen. I just wish it was smaller to carry around now.

Other Thoughts: p.s. good luck finding a carrying case. All I could find was 1 back pack and it wasn't cheap!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great for mobile usage as a student

Pros: -CPU is hyperthreading enabled, turbo boost enabled, and runs very cool. It is capable of throttling itself to save power, and does a seamless job doing so. I believe it uses the H55 chipset too.

Ports are sufficient and accessible.

Screen is very clear and arrived with no dead pixels.

Laptop is very very light, but is made of impact resistant plastics. I wouldn't drop it, though.

4gb of DDR3, pretty standard nowadays.

KEYBOARD! For an engineering student, this keyboard dominates everything I've had in the past. The number pad is fantastic and every key is responsive. Additional functions use the F# keys, but are reversed mapped so that you only need to hit the key and not Fn + key.

The hard drive is still decent, even at 5400rpm. It was a Samsung 320gb, which sips power.

Battery life (w/ standard 6 cell) was 6hr 12mins of on and off usage, but it went into about 35 minutes of standby.

Cons: No USB 3.0, but who really needs that anyway. eSata would have been nice.

Touchpad. Its not as responsive as I would have liked, and the button click takes a little effort. Buy a USB mouse for heavy usage.

Webcam (not that bad, see other thoughts)

Lack of backup discs and paperwork.

No included case or sleeve.

Speakers aren't the most responsive I've had, but if you install the latest HP drivers, the EQ can be adjusted to make them sound better.

Other Thoughts: Built in webcam isn't fantastic, but at 640x480 it has a purpose. VOIP programs arent usually fullscreen applications so a windowed 640x480 image to someone else is big enough. Youtube videos are 640x480, so you can still make a video of yourself and share it in 480p quality. One of the main reasons of this lower resolution is POWER SAVINGS! Less processing power is used to generate lower resolution images, less memory is needed to transfer images, and so the overall result is more battery life when using the webcam.

A hardware wireless switch is always handy to have, but no such luck.

Lack of screen latch is sorta puzzling, but it springs shut anyway.

Laptop doesn't generate much heat! (good thing) so it can be used...on a lap! The fan is on the back left side, and pushes air to the left side.

HP provides a driver downloading software that will download and install the latest updates for the laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsEpic Fail

Pros: Nice screen

Cons: after setting up windows 7 and restarting the pc it wouldnt boot had a black screen. Oh yeah was gonna upgrade the hard drive to 500gb to fit my movies and games in it but you cant change it it only supports 320gb or less. Now i have a unused Geforce GTS 250 that was suppose to be put in the laptop i guess i will sell it on craigslist.

Other Thoughts: Hp sucks will not buy from them again

1 out of 5 eggsHP Laptop

Pros: None

Cons: Laptop arrived. Laptop turned on. Laptop bombed and never produced a screen after that. We recieved approximately 30 seconds of watching the computer trying to boot-up before it went down...hard.

Other Thoughts: This is only one laptop, but it has been a big disappointment. Now we have been waiting a couple of weeks for a replacement. We only gave a rating of one because the form wouldn't allow us to submit unless you clicked in at least one of the circles. Otherwise this experience (so far) has been a complete bust.

3 out of 5 eggscheap web cam

Pros: large screen

Cons: web cam not so good

Other Thoughts: paid 559.00 and think thats a good price for this machine, but i like to chat with friends and family on skype and the web cam is just not good enough,i think is only a 0.3 mp and thats not what you should get for a 700.00 $ ( full price) laptop.the screen is good,ok speed and memory for everyday use.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not support above 320GB

Pros: Great Price for big Screen, Intel I3 etc.

Cons: Not so good if your needs are not covered with 320GB...Purchased 750GB internal HDD from Newegg & try to install with XP on this laptop failed- installation process will crash. Upon chatting with HP they told the laptop does not support/recoganize more than 320GB HDD... |:-( appears the BIOS is unchangeble..

Other Thoughts: Good product if your needs are covered with 320GB...NewEgg is great ever.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Large screen size for under $600 after rebate
Decent processor for price

Cons: feels cheaply made and not sturdy
mouse pad and buttons are made of cheap plastic and don't seem them lasting very long along with rest of keyboard

Other Thoughts: I work at a computer sales store (not naming which one), in which we sell the same computer for $699 after $50 mail-in
savings, which is well overpriced. We've had this computer on display for over a week now. And so far I'm not too impressed
for the $699 price but for $559 it would be well worth it for a replacement home computer or for school (maybe not with a 17" screen size but oh well)
