1 out of 5 eggsThink twice

Pros: The 4-core processor and the ATI video was nice.

Cons: I have owned mine for almost 3 months. Have sent it in twice to HP due to the left palm rest getting so hot that it burns the palm. Will not take memory upgrade to 8 gb. Probably due to the heat problem. Never had this much problem with a laptop.

Other Thoughts: If I could I would dump this laptop. I have own HPs before but have never had problems with them like this laptop. Had a friend that bought the Toshiba version of laptop and has no problem with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Great computer for the price, super fast and can play a lot of games on near max to max settings because of the screen resolution played CSS, Garys Mod, and some more source games on max; can also play WoW on max but laggy in major cities.

Cons: The computer is loaded to so much bloatware but once it was formated and a new copy of Windows 7 was installed ran very smoothly.

Other Thoughts: My first laptop, I always liked desktops, but decided to buy this for college, overall a great buy for the price and the screen is also excellent.

2 out of 5 eggsThe greatness didn't last....

Pros: For the first 3 months, it was great. It was fast, worked well, handled games, etc - it was great!

Cons: About a week ago, it began acting like a computer on it's death bed. The screen would freeze to start with. After trying several things, I decided to recover the OS by loading it back into it's original manufacturer's format. That worked for a little while, until it suddenly stopped recognizing the hard drive. When that didn't work, I tried to reinstall Windows 7 from a CD. It told me again that the hard drive didn't exist. Now its still a new machine, but it's as useful as a plastic box with keys on it.

Other Thoughts: I sincerely hope that I can get a replacement. It's been more than 30 days, but I really liked this laptop before all the 'cons' happened and I'm hoping a new machine will last longer than a few months... I think newegg should extend their warranty. Most real problems don't occur within the first 30 days. And I didn't abuse it or anything, my last lappy, a Toshiba, lasted YEARS.

5 out of 5 eggsDV6-3060 and 3050

Pros: I enjoy everything about this PC. I did the clean disk and the recovery asap. Then went out to amd and installed the 5600 series chipset so it doesnt do that switch thing when running on battery. It runs almost as fast as my home build when hard wired to internet. I play crisis on it just about flawlessly. Thought about replacing the hard drive but why when im not a big downloader. No real reason too. (Actually I own the dv6-3060 model, but everything is same just mine has the 2.1 in it).

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: If you know just a little about PC's and dont mind dumping some bloatware, this is the best priced pc. As someone else said the quad core and graphics make this pc well worth the money. Try to find these specs in any other pc and your looking at a $1300 deal. FYI upgrade IE 8 immediately or download another brower, it sticks a little for some odd reason.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Pavilion

Pros: Fingerprint reader is awesome, The computer is powerful and runs all the games i've tried so far on it, had a bad fan but HP was really good about replacing it, Picture is clear, the computer's case has a neat streamlined look that's pretty appealing, quad-core.

Cons: It had a bad fan, plenty of bloatware, sometimes the extra buttons on the left side of the keyboard are annoying, 5400rpm HD is sometimes an issue (But rarely).

Other Thoughts: Overall, this computer has served me well so far, even though i purchased it during a sale it's done everything i
ve asked of it. The touchpad is not an issue, unlike every other laptop review on ever other computer review i've ever read.

5 out of 5 eggsPlease read before you say no

Pros: 2.0 Ghz processor, 4GB DDR-1333 Mhz RAM, ATI 5650 discrete graphics w/ ATI 4250 integrated graphics for power saving, large HDD, and fingerprint reader. The look and feel is great. I love the etched metal lid. I waited 4 months before I wrote this review to make sure that I fully understood the ins and outs of this laptop. I've used it for hours of MW2, for Android app development, and for movies/music. I could not be happier!

Cons: No expansion slot. With USB 3.0 now in use it would've been nice to have the ablility to upgrade a little. But I knew that before I purchased it so I can't dock an egg.

Other Thoughts: First for those that complained of bloat-ware, look I know I waited 4 months to write this. But it only took me about two hours of owning it to find the "clean install" option located in the recovery partition. I did this before I installed anything. It was as advertised, a clean install, windows and necessary drivers only. For that I say thank you HP! No time wasted blowing away and installing Windows again then hunting down all the drivers. Also, people have complained that it's slow. What most people don't realize is that Windows 7 has CPU power throttling built in to the power profiles. So most of the time it's only running at 800Mhz. Once I realized that it was doing that I turned it off and now from the moment Windows starts the CPU is running at the full 2Ghz. Now it is always snappy and responsive. I bought this before any reviews were posted and I'm glad I did because I might've missed out on this laptop based on unknowledgeable reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsPre-installed Microsoft Office

Pros: So far I love this machine but I am wondering if the pre-installed Office for Home & Student is a trial version that I still have to pay for or was it included in the price. Windows 7 has been an interesting adventure and overall I have to performance complaints. It certainly has been outperforming my old dead Dell.

Cons: If office is not included in the price the deal is not really the bargain that it seems - have to pay Microsoft another $150.00 for office, why get it here?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Handles games very well. Played throught the entire SC2 campaign on med settings without slowing down. runs Heroes of Newerth perfect on higher settings. Fingerprint reader is awesome. keyboard is good quality. Stays fairly cool for a quad core AMD. Gets much better wireless signal strength than my old laptop did. Looks really cool. Light. HDMI out. Can switch to a lower power GPU when unplugged to save battery life.

Cons: Bloatware!!!!

Other Thoughts: Pay attention to the dimensions when purchasing. It is wider than I expected. Most of the people who gave this laptop bad reviews do not understand it. (like the comments about the 4250 drivers)

1 out of 5 eggsNot a good investment.

Pros: Light Weight
Price is ok, but i rather pay a few more to get more.

Cons: Where do i start? The keyboard is very small, there is no keypad. It doesn’t feel like good quality. It feels cheap compared to the older models. The notebook that i bought last December with an Intel Core2 Duo seems to run and load faster although it has a 4650 video card instead. (Yes I replaced the 5400rpm with 7200rpm hard drive on this one). Furthermore, I called HP and I knew more about troubleshooting than the actual technical rep who was reading word for word on his screen. Finally, he decided to say that the HP QUICKWEB feature was embedded on their copy of Win 7 and that I needed to buy the recovery CDs. Impossible people. The HP QUICKWEB is a must have feature, but it will not work unless you keep the notebook the way it came out of the box (with junk). Therefore, if you decide to do a clean install say goodbye to HP QUICKWEB. HP has not decided to provide the HP QUICKWEB software on the drivers support website. They have all the other software, but not this one.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you create your recovery CD's as soon as you get it because it is only good for one time operation. The video card is also not necessarily dedicated; you are sharing some of your 4GB memory. Only 3.74 of my 4GB memory is usable. For some reason there is a 4250 and 5650 display driver on this machine. Not cool at all people. This notebook is not worth it unless you want false specifications and you care less for quality service. Lastly, i did not get it quick enough.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat computer for the price

Pros: Quad core 2.0Ghz Processor, ATI Mobility 5650, Nice look, Well built, Processor doesn't heat crazily (the most I've ever seen this thing go is just around barely 77-80C in a HOT room with a pillow about two inches away from the left side fan which is the processor fan WHILE gaming using high/very high settings in games.) A finger print scanner that actually works very well with the latest driver!. I'm very impressed with this computers performance, I've been able to run all my games so far with no problem other then Crysis with settings all the way max, BFBC2 on max (though sometimes it will work on max?), and Just Cause 2 I only had to turn shadows to medium for it to work well, all with the exception of AA which I never use as honestly it doesn't bother me to see a couple rough edges for the performance you get back for not using it. Though everything else has worked fine so far and this will play any game to date, at LEAST possibly on medium if nothing else, it beats my old desktop!

Cons: The only problems I've found is that the drivers are outdated by a long shot and automatic driver updating doesn't seem to work for me. When my computer came I think HP even forgot to install the sound drivers as my sound didn't even work...but it was an easy fix. If you need the drivers search "Hp drivers" in google then go there and follow along with product selection until you find your computer (It will literally be specific for the DV6 3050us), although for some reason they didn't include the HP simple pass (fingerprint reading program) in the drivers list so just grab it from one of the other laptop models drivers and it'll work just fine. Also I've noticed that the speakers have lower sound then normal laptops but again is an easy fix, once you get the IDT audio driver just right click on the icon in taskbar and go to Open audio control panel then click on Equalization under speakers and headphones and drag the all bars all the way up for an instant increase in sound!

Other Thoughts: This is a very good computer for the price, especially when I bought it because it was on a special sale for $779.99 with a $50 rebate bringing it to $720. Originally I wanted a $1500 gaming laptop but realized the reality of that being out of a job with my parents getting me a laptop for college left me limited to what I could do so I searched around to find this little piece of work that works just fine for gaming to date. Sorry for those that have had problems with DoA on this or minimal problems but it's just no reason to give this amazing computer a bad review (especially for DoA people since you haven't even got to use it). Just send for a RMA and get a new one and if it works you will not be disappointed with this product. This is also the cheapest I've seen it (even at it's current price) though that's newegg for you, they're just awesome like that. HP is a very good company as well and try to ensure quality, as I've gotten with my DV6 3050us (aside from the audio driver thing)
