4 out of 5 eggsgood computer runs to hot

Pros: good computer, fast computer with 6 gb of ram but its only ddr2 memory. does what you need it to. the display is beautiful 1600x900

Cons: gets very hot, cannot run on high performance mode or it gets way to hot. temp sensors seem to be reading wrong temps. had to replace my thermal paste on the cpu and gpu since it got so hot and dried it completely out.

the graphics card sucks 512mb with only 720p hdmi output cannot play really any games

Other Thoughts: get a cooling pad

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy!

Pros: I love this laptop! The screen is large and the resolution high, without a lot of weight. There is a lot of HP software on board, but you can uninstall it. Games and programs run flawlessly and Windows 7 is growing on me.

Cons: Having the keypad on the keyboard has taken some getting used to, but that's because my old laptop didn't have it. The Blu-Ray doesn't play for some reason.

3 out of 5 eggsHard Drive Failed

Pros: Best looking laptop I've ever seen. Was working great, faster than my desktop. Fingerprint reader works perfectly.

Cons: Complete hard drive failure within 5 months. Most of the time it was fine, but there were a couple of random BSODs probably 2 months apart from eachother. After running the built in hard drive test, it would seem OK. But then today out of nowhere it gives the "immanent hard drive failure" error and the scan freezes on 0%. Putting the drive in an external enclosure and plugging into my desktop results in everything freezing immediately, and then returning to normal as soon as the enclosure is powered off.

Other Thoughts: I guess that is the risk you take when ordering a refurb. Everything else is in seemingly perfect condition, and I was very happy with it until this point. But I have used this as an excuse to order a SSD so I guess that will be something.

2 out of 5 eggsnice for the price

Pros: nice laptop for the price. Blu ray movies look good on the screen.

Cons: Out of the box it started shutting down and rebooting on its own, going back to "start windows in normal mode screen ". Im sending it back , hope they can fix whats wrong with it. Im not to impressed with the Dr Dre Beats audio neither.

4 out of 5 eggsIts OK i5? huh

Pros: I will never not ever hesitate to buy anything refurb from HP this thing is perfect flawless 100% brand new not even a smudge you could not ever have any idea at all this was a refurb but the fact it says it on the box it is flawless immaculate perfect.

Cons: I am so so far from being impressed with this core i5 I was expecting so much more this core i5 is barely any better than the phenom dual core that came in my other dv7 that this one replaces, the ram is much better and the video card is ok but not what I would expect from a 5470 its more like a 5450 but much better than the 4250 that HP likes to put in everything including my other dv7. Battery life is not so good but it is only the first charge maybe it will get better on the next charge

Other Thoughts: I only gave it a 4 egg rating because of the perfect flawless mint condition it is new I swear it you can’t even find a clue that it is a refurb. I am not an Intel fan I loved AMD but had to face the fact Intel has better stuff now and has for a few years but man is this CPU a letdown I was truly expecting much much more than a dual core 2.9 gighz phenom and it’s just not in it, it is however a bit better but not if you compared price new to new AMD is just a better price to performance ratio but I cant ever say enough about how good the condition is they had to have replaced the case because I have had my other dv7 for 6 weeks and it shows it all over so this has never been touched by anyone before me I swear it. I was scared and unhappy about buying this until I actually got it out of the box and am very happy with the condition it is the first refurb thing I have ever bought and wow I am a fan of HP's work.

5 out of 5 eggsReally Happy With It

Pros: This machine is quick, powerful and good looking. Beautiful display. The built in fingerprint reader is very cool. No more typing passwords.

Cons: Spent a couple of hours removing the majority of the HP software that came with it. I definitely think it runs better now that it has been freed from most of the pre-loaded junk.

Other Thoughts: It would be really nice if the scrolling feature of the touchpad was enabled by default instead of buried deep in the mouse settings.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and Stylish

Pros: This laptop has been working great for me. It is thin and light for being a 17.3'' laptop. It's also stylish. I've been developing on this laptop and always have a lot of windows and different programs open at open at the same time but I have never had any performance issues so far.

Cons: HP software updates can be annoying at times since they keep running and tell you to restart your computer
