5 out of 5 eggsGreat little system

Pros: Very long battery life
Good performance
Very good value for money

Cons: None that i could find after several months of use

Other Thoughts: I bought this and upgraded the HD to a 256GB SSD and more RAM.
I was able to get around 7 hours of battery life watching video. I travel with this laptop to review my pictures and performance is acceptable when viewing 21 mega pixel images and fast enough to use Handbrake to trans-code HD content while i sleep overnight. I am very pleased with this machine. For times when i do need portable power i have a Lenovo w500 2.9GHZ but that's heavy.. so the DM1 is usually always in my bag ;-)...Finally HP build a good product ;-)

4 out of 5 eggsBest netbook for the price!!

Pros: This netbook is a huge upgrade from my previous Atom based Acer. It can run videos in HD without a hiccup and can play most recent games at medium settings, thanks to its radeon graphics.

The netbook is quick and snappy, but the CPU is the bottleneck here. AMD should continue with its Vision lineup of processors, but give just a bit more power to the CPU.

The hard drive is quite good at 7200 RPM. You can upgrade it yourself for a SSD but this will push the price well above 500$.

The battery life is also quite good, I can manage 4-5 hours of moderate to heavy use per charge. This is great and proves that this AMD based netbook is very optimised in the power consumption. It runs silent and cool most of the time, only getting louder if I play a game for a long time.

Also it looks good and the Beats audio is a nice extra!

Cons: No USB 3.0
No optical drive (ok with me)
Internal Broadcom WLAN card is really outdated. It is classified as an N-class card but it can only achieve 65 mbps maximum. I ordered an Intel Centrino dual-band advanced-N 6230 card as a repacement. It takes 10 minutes to install and now I have a 300 mbps connection.

Also, prepare to spend an afternoon to fine-tune your new HP (remove bloatware, update drivers and bios, reboots...)

Other Thoughts: Really good machine for the price. It is quite fast, great graphics, can play recent games on the go and won't break the bank. It is highly portable too and has a sleek and clean look.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Portable Notebook

Pros: I'd have given this notebook 5 eggs if it had a USB-3 port. Long battery life. It's as easy to carry around as a tablet. Doesn't have an optical drive which is not an issue for me. AMD processor is great plenty of speed along with the 7200RPM HD.

Cons: HP SUPPORT STINKS!!! I purchased an Accidental Damage Care-Pack w/House Call Repair from HP directly. I was on the phone with 5 different people for 1hr 58min BEFORE I got to the right person who then said I had to send my laptop BACK!!! Why did I buy the extra money for "IN HOME" just to send it BACK??? DON'T waste your money on HP CARE PACK they don't honor it.

Other Thoughts: You'll need to update BIOS and other drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for Price

Pros: -Bigger screen than a netbook
-not a netbook
-7200rpm hdd is fast
-beats audio speakers are loud & clear
-hp assistant surpisingly using (i thought it was bloatware at first but i'm glad i kept it)
-battery life is pretty good (about 5hours of surfing or typing)
-plenty of ports given its size
-webcam/built in mic

Cons: -it's too sleek. I feel like it's going to slip out of my hand when i'm taking it out of my bag
-no usb 3.0 (I already knew that when i bought it though)
-GLOSSY SCREEN & BORDER PRODUCE TONS OF GLARE!!!!!!!!!!! (this is my only legitimate complaint)
-processor is a little on the slow side (but given the size, price, and the fact that i just use this for school it's not a huge deal)

Other Thoughts: once again AMD based products give you more bang for the buck. the intel version of this laptop is over $100 more but has a slower drive and intel graphics

This is not a gaming laptop. despite the demos of games i've seen in video reviews I would not use this for gaming. This is a workstation so don't complain if you buy it but can't run the latest games on it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mini Laptop

Pros: This is a "Netbook" on steriods. The AMD Dual core is outstanding. If you're looking for a desktop replacement this isn't for you. If you want more than an iPad or Android Tablet this is for you. 7,200RPM HD really helps boot speed if you uninstall some of the BLOT software. Plus, do the 4Gb Memory upgrade. Battery life is close to advertised. HP "Cool Sense" works well.

Cons: Blot software. Needs USB 3. No optical drive.

Other Thoughts: Travels as easy as a iPad or other tablet, long battery life.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great laptop that really is a powerful "Netbook". AMD dual core is great as-well-as the video. Normal amount of BLOTware.. just uninstall. Most of the drivers and BIOS needed updating. I still recommend max’ing the memory to 8Gb. Be aware this “Notebook” does not have an optical drive. Battery life is about what’s advertised. I watched 3 movies from Netflix and still had 20+% left. 7,00RPM HD is a great addition.

Cons: Really should be considered as a powerful "Netbook" and not as a notebook. Should have USB 3 port.

Other Thoughts: Travels as easy as a tablet. The battery last for hours under constant use.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

Pros: Everything on it runs great, I know this because I got it for my sister, who would immediately tell me of any issue. I was worried about the size but she loves it, it's just slightly bigger than most netbooks and that size is wonderful.

Cons: Nothing so far, obviously some preinstalled software, but my sister actually likes some of the HP stuff so it worked out.

Other Thoughts: Go for it if you need a small 'facebook' and word processing computer.
