4 out of 5 eggsMore info on this machine

Pros: This is an update to my previous review:
My boss liked these machines (and the price, which was $209 when he ordered them) so much, that he ordered THREE! For a refurb, the first one was perfect in every way. It connected to our WiFi, Windows validated and updated itself, and everything works. Working on the 2'nd machine, now. It came with a new battery in the box. (The first had it's battery already installed.) The WiFi on the 2'nd one appears to be D.O.A. so I'm using the wired LAN port. I will have to work on the WiFi later. The 3'rd machine powered up, and appeared to activate the WiFi, however, Windows activation failed due to a "security error". So, I will be calling the MS phone number, and get that long code to hopefully unlock this machine!

Cons: So far, the 2'nd of 3 units purchased by my boss, powered-up with a "dead" WiFi. I will have to investigate further. Machine #3, Windows activation failed, had to call MS on phone.

Other Thoughts: Of the 5 machines I have now worked on, (2 personal, 3 at work) three were "perfect" right out of the box. The 4'th had minimal issues with Windows Activation, and a "dead" WiFi. The 3'rd, Windows Activation failed. The first 3 machines were identical, with a nice "brushed nickel" style top cover finish. #4 was a silvery plastic, and #5 was black.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machines!

Pros: Excellent price, excellent performance. I bought two of these, to replace the aging "Thinkpads" my wife and I had. We couldn't be happier! They look nice, feel solid, and "Just Work." It's also good to be able to get Windows 7 and not 8! The built-in WiFi has excellent range and speed. These are perfect for watching online videos, too. (External speakers are a big help.)

Cons: I can't think of any. :)

Other Thoughts: Going to recommend one of these machines to my boss. :)

1 out of 5 eggsNot as described

Pros: Not many. It is a laptop but not at all portable.

Cons: Battery does NOT charge.
Hard drive is 70.1 GB instead of advertised 80 GB.
D drive is a DVD ROM instead of the DVD/CD-RW Combo and the DVD ROM does not work.

Other Thoughts: Very disappointed but will see how NewEgg handles problems now. At the moment, my thoughts are that this item borders on being fraudulently advertised.

2 out of 5 eggsMight have been nice

Pros: An inexpensive, basic laptop with decent features for a student doing routine tasks. No risk, RMA replacement easy at Newegg.

Cons: Laptop could not see battery. Refurb Windows serial gave error as not being correct for Windows SKU after multiple attempts.

Other Thoughts: Didn't mind receiving a bad out of the box refurb laptop. Stuff happens even with new electronics and RMA for replacement is easy at Newegg. Having to pay shipping for returning a faulty product, particularly out of the box, is just a bit insulting. If it had been a new product I would have taken a refund, for that reason alone, and shopped elsewhere. I could have gotten this laptop for less at competitors but I always considered Newegg as my go to place for computer related items.

4 out of 5 eggsSale Price made it worth it

Pros: An all around good machine. No time wasted removing useless "Free Sample" software.

Cons: Needed another battery, (wasn't charging) but one phone call to the number provided in package and another battery was on the way.

Other Thoughts: The only thing I dislike about this machine is the short battery life. Overall, it's a good buy if you're on a budget. (under $300.00)
