2 out of 5 eggs...meh...

Pros: Has an upgraded processor (has a sticker that says Centrino, but actually has a Core2 inside).

Cons: Has an upgraded processor (will consume a lot more battery and may have an insufficient cooling mechanism).

Other Thoughts: I was surprised the unit has so much wear. It is in the same condition (and same model) as discarded laptops I used to recycle and sell on [name of competitor omitted] years ago. Device drivers not loaded so screen resolution was awful until I downloaded drivers myself. Battery is junk. I was considering returning because of poor workmanship and unexpectedly heavy wear, but for $200 it is actually a reasonably good deal with Windows 7 Pro.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little backup laptop

Pros: Solid, well-built, highly useable screen image. Extremely pleased with purchase overall.

Cons: Loaded windows difficult to update.

Other Thoughts: I purchased several of these to use with a Linux OS. Ubuntu wouldn't load, so used Fedora, which is working great. The 80gb HDD is okay, but installed a faster 320GB HHD. Wish vendor would offer compatible memory upgrades on same page as item is listed.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!!!

Pros: The case, keyboard & screen looked clean.

Cons: Do not buy refurbished from newegg. The company that does their refurbishing is bad!!! The first time I powered up the notebook it went right to a blue screen & then went into windows to repair. I figured that this was just a windows problem so I reinstalled windows & everything seemed OK. I rebooted the next day & blue screen again. I RMA'ed, newegg said no problems & shipped back to me. I just booted & went right to a blue screen. I contacted newegg & now they say I can't return because it's 2 days over the 30 day return period. I guess I have a paperweight now!!!

3 out of 5 eggsRefurbished=Used? Really?!!!!

Pros: Laptop functioned fine - fresh version of windows installed. Easy to load other software/ drivers to be up and running.

Cons: I'm sorry but Refurbished to me means open box, returned item, ect....

This laptop was clearly USED. It came with 2 missing feet, cracked plastic where screen locks closed, and there is a blemish on the screen. Looks like you could wipe if off but it was on the other side of the plastic coating.

Other Thoughts: Chatted with customer service and am having it shipped back (at my expense - $19) for repair. I will see how it is when it returns or is replaced. Hopefully they actually look at the machine before sending.

2 out of 5 eggs4 out of 4 With Problems

Pros: Ordered x4 of these for a client who needed cheap decent Win 7 Pro laptops. Newegg shipped fast and had a good price for them.

Cons: One arrived with an arrow key loose. One arrived with the wrong power cord. One arrived with Windows XP Pro media instead of Windows 7 Pro - this one also had x4 screws hanging out of the bottom unsecured. One arrived would not go past the boot screen.

Other Thoughts: I have no problem with Newegg as they are great and ship fast. I have issues with Metro, the company that does the refurbishing of these machines. Sloppy and rushed is the only way to put it. I will not purchase any more refurbished laptops from Egg because I cannot trust their quality.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what I need it to do well

Pros: Quite fast, surprisingly slow. My main desktop has two SSDs in raid 0, so I definitely notice a speed difference in opening programs and windows, but when things are open things run very well.

At first, it ran a bit hot, but there was a bit of dust in the side vent that I cleared out and now I can even set it on my lap and it just feels warm when doing basic things.

Looks sleek. Keyboard feels intuitive to type on.

Cons: Not many, it's not good for gaming but for the price considering it's a laptop that is no surprise.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a decent that will run any work, media or web based program besides gaming and heavy Photoshoping, I would definitely recommend this.
