5 out of 5 eggsGood buy

Pros: - Fast
- Decent quality construction
- Respectable screen
- Decently thin/light, feels solid
- 4GB stick is only in one slot (popped another 4GB in for 8)

Overall, this machine is a good deal for the money. I bought it for my mother who's using it only for basic tasks, but wanted something that would hold up for a few years.

We also have a Probook 4530s for my father. That's a business-class device around the same price range (his was $430 for an i3 with 2GB of RAM; upgraded to 6GB). While there's no brushed aluminum on the case which made the Probook feel a little more solid, the plastic construction and overall look is nice. Interestingly, the Probook has a matte display whereas this is obviously glossy; the Probook's screen seems a lot more pixalated in comparison, despite having the same resolution (and probably being the same panel).

The keyboard seems entirely reasonable to me, and I have no complaints using it for any function.

Cons: None that I didn't know about (see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: For the money, there's little to complain about; this is a overall solid machine. The Probook, however, was cheaper and had a 7200rpm drive - would have been nice to see here. That being said, the trade-off is a higher capacity, so it's not like they're ripping you off.

It would have been nice to see a USB3 port or lower-end dedicated graphics of course, but again, I knew about that going in, and it's also on the lower-end spectrum of the i5 laptops cost-wise, so it's entirely reasonable for them to not be there.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: It is a fast computer. I am a software engineer, so I do a lot of code compiling and development work as well as some light gaming on this computer. It handles them very well. it's not a gaming PC, and I didn't buy it for that. The i5 is more than capable of performing tasks as well as upgrade space for more than 4gb's of RAM, but most people will never use 4Gb on a laptop anyway.

Cons: The Keyboard. This is the absolute worst part of the computer. The keys are too small and spaced too far apart so I end up hitting wrong keys almost every sentence I type. I have to cut my typing speed in half to not make any mistakes. The computer also is full of bloatware, but can easily be removed with a little time.

Loses two eggs for the keyboard. This may seem harsh, but honestly, it's a big deal and it gets incredibly frustrating and I will wind up wearing out my backspace key. Getting an external keyboard defeats the purpose of a laptop.

Other Thoughts: For the money, this is a good buy. My only gripe is the keyboard.
