Pros: NONE - Blue Screen out of the box - Replacement only after about 12 days. Refund not possible. Totally in a worse position than if we had not bought it at all. Buyers remorse big time.

Cons: Blue Screen out of the box. Screaming HOT by the fan that is really loud. Newegg says replacement ONLY. no refund.
Enormous power supply, laptop is heavier than stated in the specs.
Seems slow before the Blue Screen comes.

Other Thoughts: Regret wasting my time on HP again. We have had serious trouble with them in the past but keep hoping it will get better. NEVER AGAIN.

Pros: Multitasks like a monster. Can handle absolutely anything i have thrown at it. Runs quiet and cool! Perfect for replacing a high power desk top.

Cons: If your fine with a large and rather cumber-sum laptop it is good.

Other Thoughts: I'm posting this becuase I cannot edit my previous review and giving it 5 stars to make up for my 1 star review. HP has finally decided to do the right thing and repair the computer for free.

everyone is entitled to their opinion; but in this case, the lack of knowledge and common sense should not affect a rating. I normally don't base my comments off of others, but i couldn't resist and actually LOL'd at the first reveiw:
1. You're complaining about the size when it clearly states 17.3" laptop and clearly gives the dimensions in the specifications? This is smaller than most other 17.3" laptops. You're lack of research should not fault the device. Also, look at the pictures and click on the one in the middle. very low profile border, and the top border is only a little thicker as they had to make room for a 720p webcam!
2. normal to small power brick for this type of laptop. Again, look@ pics, click the last one.
3. YOU CAN CONTROL THE FAN SETTINGS. my guess; your fan broke as you did not complain about noise.
4. don't mean to be disrespectful but, duhhh! gaming on a quad i7 w/ HD7470 vid. will drain the batt!

Cons: 5. it's a standard optical drive for a laptop. they all feel a little flimsy, but have been quality tested and will not "snap off". Obviously this is a first laptop for you.
6. the design purposefully has the power adapter configuration to the side as many desks are limited on space front to back and not so much side to side.
7. I kindly refer you to my statement in number 3.
8. I'm not an electrician, but i'm guessing the short circuit was more than likely caused by the wiring in your electrical socket and not by the laptop. If these things had electrical problems, they'd be doing a recall.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LAPTOP. WORKS GREAT WITH NO PROBLEMS.

Other Thoughts: Granted, ASUS/ACER/CYBERPOWER *MIGHT* have a better track record; i think HP/DELL & GATEWAY are improving a LOT and this laptop shows it. Great features for a great price. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS LAPTOP.

Other Thoughts: To everyone who says that the mouse is broken with the typeing thing. alot of people are saying that its not a good computer for gaming. Its amazing at runing games quiet and super fast. there is no problem with typeing and having an external mouse, which if your gaming you will have. speakers are amazing and the overal everything is amazing

Pros: This laptop is fast and powerful. Havent tried gaming on it yet but have no doubts that it can and will play most games on medium-high settings. 8GB of ram makes this thing fly right out of the box.

Cons: It is a little large, but it's not meant to be super portable. Meant more as a desktop replacement and short moves (i.e. bedroom to living room, etc...).

Other Thoughts: Cant see this laptop ever starting a fire for any reason.

Pros: Superb video editing capacity: i7 processor, 1GB graphics, 8GB RAM, HD screen.

Cons: Wish it had Bluray burner - not just reader.

Other Thoughts: I have been a video production enthusiast for several years. I now work with my 3rd upgrade of Pinnacle Studio 14 HD editing software. I work with HUGE HD files, & have up until now only used beefed up desktops, & had to endure still, painfully slow processing & crashes. This new HP laptop is quite amazing - stable, FAST, & a pleasure to work with. The only improvement to my particular needs would have been a Bluray burner, not just reader, but with the 2 USB 3.0 jacks, I'll probably just buy an external one. I also purchased a fan cooled platform to set this new laptop on, although in observing the processor meter, I have not seen it any higher than 80%, even when renduring a 20 minute AVCHD movie. I also have to praise HP for shipping out a laptop WITHOUT all the excess included software nearly everyone dumps. 'Love screen resolution & Beats sound system. Awesome machine. Note: Newegg indicates 750 GB hard drive, but its actually 1000!

Pros: It was pretty fast and looked sexy.

Cons: Well let me get started!
1. It is Huge no point in getting a laptop if it is impossible to take places. Also very heavy

2. The power cable is also HUGE and heavy.

3. The left side of the computer gets very hot while playing games such as WoW Swtor and so on. Plays WoW on med-high. SWTOR on low.

4. The battery lasts for less than an hour while playing, when it does die and you have to charge it that's when the thing gets HOT.

5. The disk drive is very unstable and flimsy, every time i put a CD in it i thought i was gonna snap the tray off.

6. The power cable when plugged in sticks straight out with not angle so it easily got caught on things.

7. Within the first year expect it to shut off due to overheating.

8. Oh yea one more thing! mine short circuited in my apartment two days ago and started a fire, almost killed my roommate and would have burnt down the place if she was not home.

AVOID LIKE PLAGUE GO ASUS/ACER

Other Thoughts: Mine was the upgraded version with 1tbhd. Cost me 1400, do not get a laptop you expect to use as a media gaming center. I know i learned my lesson, now i get to get a nice Cyberpower and asus netbook to do homework on. Please put some thought in your purchasing. Dont go HP,DELL,GATEWAY or anything of the sort. I have had great experiences with ASUS/ACER Cyberpower. I usually build my computers but i only need one for casual gaming and work. You have been warned!
