5 out of 5 eggsHard Drive/ Software Usage

Pros: SSD, Speed and much more i could go into

Cons: None i dont own one (Other Thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Just letting people know these computers are like netbooks.... but 10x powerful and much much more lightweight, and for those wondering about storage its a basic computer for web surfing and email not a gaming computer for high multimedia like a MAC.
SSD ment for speed for business or a home web look up fast

5 out of 5 eggsVery Fast

Pros: -SSD makes it very fast
-Does everything I need it too faster than anything I've owned before.
-Setup was fast and simple, I had it out of the box and on the internet in about 5 minutes.

Cons: -128GB makes it tough to install a lot of software but thats nothing new with HP's.

Other Thoughts: -The keybourd layout is a bit different but really isn't a problem

2 out of 5 eggsNice form factor, horrible interface

Pros: Form factor, screen is nice, feels solid, the i5 is fast. Typing keys have nice feel.

Cons: Keyboard is poorly laid out. Device control (screen brightness, sound etc) has precedence over F keys; the "home" and "end" keys require a key shift. That would take away 1 egg. HOWEVER, the touchpad is truly awful, which has been pointed out by other reviewers, but I think this needs to be emphasized, as I regret the purchase decision. I've been unable to get used to it because 1) it is particularly useless to scroll down a long ScrollPane as one must press hard and scroll at the same time. Inevitably, you run out of room on the touchpad, 2) the touch pad is extremely stiff and 3) if you touch the bottom of the scroll pad while pointing, the cursor will go to the bottom left of the screen. Extremely frustrating overall as I use this for programming where speed is a useful thing.

Other Thoughts: Running Fedora 16 which is relatively nice. Needed to add acpi_backlight=vendor to the kernel options however to keep the screen from blanking. The battery life may not be as good as win7.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Well-built and has good ergonomics. Things are where you would expect to find them. The screen colors and resolution are excellent and the overall speed is impressive. The built in wi-fi antenna is quite sensitive, and the SSD is, for my needs, more than ample. The overall build quality in in the upper 5% of similar machines I have looked at.

Cons: Not too much, but I will say that I could not find the user's manual on the SSD. I downloaded it from HP to a desktop. Lots of bloatware that are easily removed. Also, HP advises making either rescue DVDs or a rescue USB drive. I figured an 8 GB usb drive would suffice. Wrong! Once you start the process, the HP rescue say a minimum 16 GB usb flash drive is needed. That should be in the user manual.

Other Thoughts: Setup was easy and painless. I have used a prduct called Advanced System Care fro IObit for years and it helped clean up a lot of the bloatware. Also got rid of the Norton and went with Avast Internet Security which has never failed me. Also the trial Offiice 2010 is worthless. I just installed my Office 2010 Pro and it works like a charm. I really like this machine and it will be my traveling companion for years to come.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat size, Startup and Battery Life

Pros: The laptop is small but doesn't feel to small. I love the keyboard (backlit). It does startup and wakeup quickly.
I tried out alot of laptops and this one just felt right.

Cons: Fan definitely gets loud. Small SSD has cause me to minimized the amount of software that I add to this laptop.
It could/should have had a better display. I like that touch pad supports the Windows 8 gesters.

Other Thoughts: Since this is only 128 SSD and the OS/ Quick Start software take up all but around 60 to 70 GB. There is not much room for anything.... but I am sure as prices come down I will update to a larger hard Drive.

I am very happy with this purchase. Hopefully it will last.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing Flies

Pros: This laptop is blazing fast. I reformatted it with Windows 7 Professional as soon as I received it, as it comes with Home edition.

It installed windows in 9 minutes from boot from usb to the desktop. Installing of drivers, utilities, applications was exceptionally fast due to the SSD.

All of my programs load instantly. The only delay that I ever experience on this machine is due to the internet connection. That's saying something!

Physically, this ultrabook is great. It weighs very little (even less than a 8" netbook that my friend has), it is sleek, elegant, and the brushed metal looks way better in person than in the pictures.

The keyboard is great to type on and is backlit with a nice white LED.

Cons: As others have stated, the only downside to this ultrabook is the touchpad. The buttons (left/right click) are part of the "touch area". What this means is that sometimes when you set your finger on the button (right click for example) it will register as a "tap" and left click before you actually press the button to right click. This can be rather frustrating.

That issue could be alleviated by turning off the "tap to click" feature, but then we have issue number two with the touchpad:

The buttons (left/right click) are "hard" to press. Harder than normal buttons on a touchpad. Certain areas of the buttons (the corners) are practically un-pressable. You have to press in the top/middle of the buttons in order for them to be "relatively easy" to press.

Overall, the touchpad issues are only a problem when you need to right click. This is because you can use the "tap to click" for left click. However, when you use the "tap to click" it sometimes will "click" as described a

Other Thoughts: Excellent ultrabook overall. The price is right ($200 cheaper than comparable models from other manufacturers) and the performance is great. Don't let the touchpad issues deter you; I'm certain that it will just take a bit of getting used to.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Ultrabook

Pros: Size, speed, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, HDMI port (regular size), speakers, great boot times, good battery life.

Cons: My biggest complaint is getting used to the touchpad. I like the touchpad on my wife's 2011 MacAir much better. The second complaint is all of the bloatware installed by HP.

Other Thoughts: The Folio's overall speed is better than I had hoped for!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid machine

Pros: Bought this for the wife for work. Machine is very quiet, very light and looks solid. Tech specs are decent; i would have preferred 8GN RAM and SSD 6GBS not 3Gb (Like Asus Zen) however i have had HP laptops for over 15 years now (compaq) and never had a laptop go bad on me. I like reliability in a vendor and good QA

Cons: AC Adapter could be smaller but I always say that...

4 out of 5 eggsamazing battery

Pros: battery, look, design, speed, keyboard

Cons: somewhat heavy for an ultrabook

Other Thoughts: really like this. battery is amazing, gets about 6.5 hrs use with wifi on. beautiful design. love the lighted keyboard. is a little heavier and thicker than some ultrabooks. overall highly recommended.
