5 out of 5 eggswhat a deal

Pros: Price (basically half the price of the macbooks w/ the same specs)
Windows 7 (the right people will indeed appreciate this)
design (simply amazing)
Comes with a nice little jacket to protect it

Cons: Only one i can think of is it is using a 2nd gen i5 as opposed to the newer 3rd gen but the specs are as good as any ultrabook for it's $750 pricetag

Other Thoughts: I've owned this for one day so far, will update if i run into any problems but from what i can tell so far it is more/less like the macbooks minus big chunk of change.

Whether or not this is restocked or not this is a very good deal even for the refurbished version which exists somewhere on thissite

4 out of 5 eggsmakes you feel happy

Pros: good quality material. free space for a second ssd.

Cons: wireless keep disconnecting even after driver updates. w8 doesn't recognize all drivers even installing all drivers from hp website. Usb ports are side by side, close to each other so if you are using a bulky flash drive you can not use the other port. Just one usb 2.0 and one usb 3.0 ports. beats button doesn't work properly in w8.

4 out of 5 eggsWOW now I understand why it's called and ENVY!!

Pros: thin, fast and loaded with features. BEAUTIFUL looking laptop....I can't wait for my next business trip to show it off. The setup went without a hitch. Gig ethernet major plus for me. Fast out of hibernate, crystal clear display...watching Youtube HD video was amazing.

This has to be the most stunning laptop I have ever seen.

Cons: It's TOO beautiful! I've worked with some conservative companies that would frown on such a gives the allure of flashy! NO DVD drive, that caught me by surprise but then again I would rather have thin than a DVD drive that would not be used often.

Not obvious which side to open, I keep trying to open it from the back, but I am sure I will get used to what the slight difference between front and back looks like....but it is hard to spot. Also it is fairly tight, so a woman might have extra trouble prying it open, especially worrying about their nails. I hope it will "break in" a little in the future so it will open easier.

Other Thoughts: I have always been a big fan of HP, and they have taken a lot of well deserved heat lately, but whoever designed this must be an artist, because you just want to put it on a pedestal and admire it.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: Great style. This computer is light and looks amazing. I get comments on it all the time. I find the keyboard very easy to type on as well.

Cons: It takes too long to wake up...not sure if this is specific to my computer. Otherwise a fast machine. Also, I initially liked the volume control on the side, but I'm always accidentally taking it off mute (which I need on) when I pick it up or if I put it on my lap. The only other downside is that it picks up fingerprints really easily.

Other Thoughts: When I first got it, the touchpad wasn't working. An HP representative sat on the phone with me for an hour to resolve it and was very helpful.

4 out of 5 eggsnice little ultrabook

Pros: SSD is very fast, screen is nice and bright with a high res for a 14", fast cpu, good battery life (I get about 6-7 hours doing basic stuff, 5-5.5 doing programming work or watching videos) Pretty light weight. Little things like the power adapter breaking down into the brick and 2 cables makes it really convenient for travel. Nice choice of ports, hdmi, mini display port, usb, ethernet, nothing more nothing less.

Cons: Power cable where it connects to the dc jack is way too long, it's like 2 inches long, should really only be an inch or so. Mouse pad tends to hold onto grease and gets 'sticky' after a while. Not a fan of beats audio, I've found that it likes to auto adjust volume (through headphones) which throws off the music.

Other Thoughts: Great laptop for what it is, nice 14" screen with a higher res than most 15" laptops, the ssd is really snappy (was expecting a lower quality ssd) processor is also very nice for a mobile one. Also the battery life is quite good compared to other laptops with similar specs. Beats audio and some smaller points of personal annoyance with their 'higher end' series keeps me from giving 5 stars, but if you can pick it up on sale, it's worth every penny.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far, pretty good laptop!

Pros: This laptop was purchased for night time use in a car. The only machine I have found with a Backlit keyboard, High Res 14" monitor (which means 1600x900) resolution. This is much better than the smaller resolution monitors especially on a 14" laptop. You can actually have 2 windows side by side and work. Also the sound on this laptop is MUCH BETTER than my dell Vostro 17" custom machine that was built about 2 years ago. Solid state drive is really quick.

Flash reader for SD Card so if you need quick memory space it's a great option.

I only didn't give it 5 stars because I only bought it the weekend of Black Friday. I got it for $799 with a 500GB external HD and 1 year extra warranty and shipping all to my house for $799. AWESOME DEAL!!

Cons: Only 2 USB ports. 1 is USB 2 and 1 is USB3. I now use a bluetooth mouse so that fixed my 1 USB port being tied up. Other con is that it's only a 128 GB drive. But more than enough room for what i'm using it for.

The battery lasts around 3-5 hrs with maximum things open. (pretty good though if you ask me.) I think it said 9 hours on the website, this is not the case.

Other Thoughts: I am a very advanced user of computers and a lot of people told me stay away from the HP's but to be honest, it's the only one that had my major concerns filled:
1. Backlit keyboard for night time car use
2. Small laptop with high resolutions (1600 x 900)
3. long battery life
4. solid state drive

4 out of 5 eggsWorking Well

Pros: -Sleek looking laptop
-Very Loud and decently clear speakers
-Fast boot
-Good power

Cons: -Expensive
-Not as light as you'd think
-4gb ram only
-Screen has slight bleeding on the bottom when you tilt / move the screen quickly

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop for my girlfriend who needed a new mobile laptop. This one was on sale and had a free xbox 360 so I thought I'd give it a try. I am pretty impressed overall. It isn't perfect and was still a little pricey in my opinion but it gets the job done right now for her with no problems.

1 out of 5 eggsPlease don't be fooled.

Pros: If you need a $1200+ paperweight, the HP Envy line will fit your needs perfectly.

Cons: Poor quality control.
Poor Customer Service.
Poor repair for warranty claims.
Poor warranty guidelines.

Don't be fooled by the so-called "premium" version of HP laptops. The Envy moniker doesn't necessarily mean that you will get better hardware or better customer support. After dealing with an HP Envy purchase that didn't work from the beginning (overheating, multiple driver issues, BIOS issues, etc), what I have gotten so far after 2 service repairs by the HP Repair center is: a damaged laptop, a poorly assembled laptop with internals hanging out of the case and screws backed out, a laptop with poor drivers due to driver support on the HP Support webpage, and a laptop that I haven't been able to use for it's intended purpose since my purchase date.

Now the laptop is obsolete and what has basically happened to me is the equivalent of someone selling me an expensive product and then telling me that I can't use it for a year, after they have damaged it and waited until it was obsolete.

Other Thoughts: Please do not get fooled by HP. Do not get fooled by the clever "Apple" aluminum chassis design. What you are getting is an aluminum paperweight that will be riddled with bugs. If you do make the purchase and are not satisfied with the product due to faulty hardware from the factory or bugs in general, HP will not replace your product like many other laptop manufacturers would (and ethically should). You will be greeted by multiple repair attempts that will subsequently damage a laptop you have tried so hard to keep in perfect shape (if you are one that has pride of ownership like myself). You will NOT be happy with your purchase.

The funny thing about HP is that if they would have resolved the issues with my laptop and owned up to the damage of the laptop caused by their dis-assembly and re-assembly, I would have had no problem buying future products from HP due to the Customer Support. The fact that they would actually damage a customer's laptop after multiple issues with hardware and then basically tell the customer "tough luck" is just totally unethical and is reason enough to not buy any of their products.

3 out of 5 eggsHP Envy

Pros: Compact and small, excellent battery life, very good when travelling and working. i like the volume wheel on the side.

Cons: the first one I got was DOA. there was power problems. Called HP and got a newegg exchange. The replacement works great. does take a little longer than expected to come out of sleep

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if the touch pad has a wheel on it.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Where do I start? When you pull it out of the box you can't help but be in awe of the glass on the lid. The laptop looks like a piece of art before you even turn it on. Once you turn it on you immediatly notice the speed of the SSD HDD. The backlit keyboard with the proximity sensor is just awesome. You can't even hear the thing running and when the fan(s) kick on they aren't obnoxiously loud like in other machines. A lot of people make reference to the style of it being similar to a Macbook. In my opinion the only real similar part is the island keyboard. The look of the machine will grab peoples attention and the performance of the machine will keep your attantion. Win7 performance ratings of 7.4 on the HDD and 7.2 on the RAM(stock 4GB) are just amazing. The USB 3.0 is a very nice feature to have for those of us who are using USB 3.0 storage devices. The screen is very bright at full power and is very easily seen at the lowest setting in a low lit room.

Cons: The price could be a con for many people but I bought it at 999.00 and it was well worth every penny in my opinion. The tab for the lid to open the laptop is hard to grab at times and takes some getting use to in order to open the laptop without getting annoyed.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this machine to any student who is looking for a lightweight, but yet still powerful machine. The SSD after setting up Windows was left with 69GB of free space. If you are looking to put your entire music collection and thousands of photos on it I would recommend getting a second SSD drive for it. (one empty extra slot for mSATA SSD) I would also recommend upgrading to the max 8GB of RAM if you are going to be running any heavy software or multitasking to keep performance up. Make sure you purchase 1.35v Ram to maintain battery life.
