1 out of 5 eggsDOA, POOR customer support

Pros: HP support

Cons: I just spent 1 hour listing all my pros and cons, I must be having a bad day, I clicked submit and it all disappeared. Short story is that I sent this back to newegg with a RMA and they tested it and sent it back and said to contact HP support. They need to test their people!

Other Thoughts: I was getting a blue screen, and when I got it back from newegg I still had a blue screen. Walmart has a better return policy than that! I am deleting my newegg account!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: Large touchpad, anti-glare screen, fast...

I ditched the CD/DVD burner and put a HD caddy into the expansion bay. I have 1 SDD and 1 HDD. The OS (Win7) is on the SDD and it flies.

I'm also dual booting with Ubuntu and the laptop is fully linux capable, no driver issues at all.

To the user that said it was difficult to reload after a system format: You can get all of the applicable drivers from HP support or you can just install the drivers that come with the DVD restore disks.

I'm a PC tech and our company has these as standard issue. I really appreciate the intuitive design by HP, it's simply the easiest laptop I've ever had to work on. (The entire back cover of the laptop snaps right off, no screws necessary.)

Cons: The 'pointstick' is useless. Does anyone still use those? Also, there is no backlit keyboard...HP installed a light at the top of the monitor that is supposed to illuminate the keyboard... it really only illuminates the F9 key, not really practical.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop - Don't own though

Pros: I like this laptop a lot. I work for a company that has purchased several of these machines for various locations for the employees. Some of these locations use it simply as a word processing machine, others have Adobe CS5 and some 3d Visual software installed, granted a dedicate GPU is installed on those models. As a Tech that has to work with these machines, it is very easy and nice to be able to simply remove 1 cover to access the entire back of the machine. Also because of that there are no screws needed to hold the back in place.

Cons: Not really a con of the product but my company has installed windows XP on some of the machines.

Other Thoughts: This is a great machine for me as a tech to work on. The only things that have any screws are the components inside the machine. The only reason I did not give it 5 eggs is that I don't own the product, but my knowledge of servicing the product and using the product is what I am basing this review on.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fairly fast, good battery life. Other review said it was difficult to "reload" after chaning HDD however for W7 x32, every driver plus many utilities are on the HP support site.

Cons: I don't like the keyboard - almost like the chicklet keyboard my 1980s Radio Shack Color Computer.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice size, built well, good camera, good bright screen, good price.

Cons: Very difficult to reload, if you change the HDD, I would suspect because it is actually a business laptop. It only has one speaker. I purchased from Newegg because they had the best price, however when I registered the unit with HP and the warranty start date came up 3/10/12, even though I entered the purchase date of 6/2/12. It appears these may have been purchased from a company that purchased them from HP in March, and that is the date HP started the warranty.
