4 out of 5 eggsNice for the price

Pros: can run low end or older games, nice screen, decent processor speed, decent graphics speed, for the price

Cons: bad mem config (need matched pairs to get dual channel performance) and very slow hard drive (5400rpm = boo!)

Other Thoughts: I replaced the memory with a kit that ran less than 10% of the price of the laptop and increased graphics performance about 30%, and replaced the hard drive with an older SSD I had laying around and got it to boot in less than 1/4 of the time, then put the original hard drive in a USB 3 enclosure to keep around when I needed large storage for it. (The reinstall of the OS was nice in that I didn't have to deal with HP's bloatware anymore, too.) It works beautifully with a little extra money and modification.

5 out of 5 eggsReally solid machine for the money

Pros: Solidly built machine supplied with above-average amt. of RAM and larger HDD, centered around one of the better AMD CPU+GPU hybrid chips. Runs quiet and cool. Runs apps and games that require moderately good graphics power (CAD products, online games like Runescape or League of Legends). Bright display. Aluminum cladding over plastic looks good.

Cons: The arrow keys up, down, left, right arrow keys are small for gaming. Slightly heavy. Battery life is just okay.

Other Thoughts: Buy it for the AMD APU. This chip is just a way better value than an equivalent Intel chip, in my opinion, for light gaming. The fingerprint password feature is kind of nice. The large, glowing HP logo on the top (or backside of the screen) is almost too bright.

5 out of 5 eggsWow, what a surprise!

Pros: - A8 Quad Core Processor
- AMD Radeon Graphics (integrated) surprisingly good
- (2) USB 3.0
- (1) HDMI
- Bluetooth
- Sleek Modern Look (brushed aluminum case)
- Lightweight and reasonably thin for a 15.6"
- Can expand memory to 16GB
- Excellent keyboard layout
- Nice vibrant screen
- Illuminated touchpad
- Decent sound but not as expected (see below)
- Limited Bloatware!

Cons: - Sensitive touchpad
- Beats Audio overrated
- Less than 4 hour battery life (even on power saving)
- Up & down arrow keys to close together
- 5400 RPM HDD

Other Thoughts: Just wow! This laptop is like a brand new laptop just without the OEM box. It's absolutely mint. Got this for an absolute steal @ $340 shipped. Came the next day! This is the first refurbished laptop I've purchased but couldn't pass it up for the specs. At $440 it's worth it.

Have run a few tests on it. Overall passmark score of 895. CPU mark of 2223. Surprisingly good integrated graphics processor, can run COD on high settings. Runs Photoshop & Power Director Ultra 10 without any bogdown. Multi-tasked 7 programs at less than 20% CPU usage. USB 3.0 & HDMI ports are a huge plus. Keyboard has an excellent layout and feels robust and not crowded. Up and down arrows are to close together but I'd rather have that than a mini right shift button. Not a lot of bloatware & very nice screen. Beats audio is ok but was expecting more. Very little if any bass and to much treble even after EQ adjustments. Going to upgrade to SSD and 16MB Mem & have an awesome rig! Highly recommend!
