4 out of 5 eggsRuns great for games

Pros: -An AMD A8-4500m quad core processor which is what im looking for in a computer
-Nice space for a 750gb hard drive
-Very good gaming performance even for an integrated graphics card
-Lots of DDR3 RAM
-Came preloaded with skype
-The Beats audio sound card is actually very good and came ith a tuner/equalizer
-Related to ^ the speakers can get very loud and came with a subwoofer on the bottom
-Has a fingerprint scanner
-It came with a webcam/mic

Cons: -The processor will start to run extremely hot after mid-long periods of playing games
-Slow to start sometimes from the 5400rpm HDD
-The sound coming from the speakers will have volume fluxuations. Its not as bad on headphones and I have yet to hear any fluxuations from external speakers.
-TONS AND TONS OF BUGS.

Other Thoughts: I didnt order this from Newegg. Got it from staples from a clearence thingy that they did for the new Windows 8 laptops. Just about everything I wanted in a computer was in this, so I decided to buy it and now its been with me ever since~

4 out of 5 eggsGreat sound and performance.

Pros: This laptop has great sound, video, and speed especially for the price.

Cons: The number pad feels a little cheap and the delete key is small.

Other Thoughts: Glad I got this instead of a higher end laptop, it does everything I need for a great price.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst notebook ever

Pros: I have been a loyal HP customer for over 15 years. This notebook has taught me to find a new product to like. I purchased this to replace a dying 4 year old HP and liked the options it offered.

Cons: Notebook was a lemon and never worked properly since day 1. Spent first 6 weeks trying to work with HP tech support without success. First page of a site will load but subsequent pages on that site after 15 minutes of waiting still would not load. Newegg did step up to try to take care of the issue when HP has not

Other Thoughts: I shop almost exclusively online anymore. With this defective notebook I would have to buy whatever was on the first page of their site as I would not ever get to see anything else. I hired my network guy to come try to see what could be done to correct the problem and he determined it to be a combination software/hardware issue that might never be able to be corrected. This notebook was a lemon and should never have left their factory. In addition to the cost of the notebook I am out an additional $120 in shipping and repair fees. HP could not fix the problem once they saw for themselves what it did when they took remote control of the unit. Newegg has had a replacement shipped to me and I hope that this one does not have the same issue as the first one did. I will never get back the hours spent with HP tech service, nor the 2 months of shipping back and forth cross country trying to resolve the problem.

3 out of 5 eggsHP Pavilion DV6 7010-us

Pros: Good for low profile games that depend on ram, such as minecraft and warcraft.

Cons: Not very fast when web browsing. I've noticed on my dell I get 25 mbps download and 8 mbps upload. I only get 11 mbps upload and 4 mbps download on the dv6. Just saying! Also, you cant exchange the graphics card whick really stinks because I have the NVidia Geforce GTX 690 on my desktop.

Other Thoughts: Pretty good pc, just wish was more customizable.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice laptop for the price

Pros: Nice big bright screen, reasonable weight, included 10-key keypad, long battery life, fingerprint scanner. fast processor that runs cool.

Cons: power connection comes out the side, which I find to be inconvenient. I like the back better. Lots of bloatware.

Other Thoughts: Did not buy from NewEgg- got it on sale elsewhere on pre-windows 8 clearance. Very nice laptop but came with extreme amounts of HP bloatware. What I did: created my backup set of DVDs just for safety, entered the system recovery and restored using just the basic image and drivers. I forget which selection to make from the menu, but the choice is obvious. One choice restores everything, and one restores just he essentials. Works much better without the bloatware.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat kids laptop

Pros: * Size of disk is great for gobs of home video/pictures and sharing between two users.
* USB 3.0 is awesome for highspeed transfer to external USB 3.0 disk drive
* Overall speed is super for word, excel, powerpoint, general games
* Sound/speakers are excellent (you can actually hear voices on skype)
* built in video camera is sufficient for general use

Cons: Not any significant cons for a laptop in this class
* basic high-gloss display (like all other laptops in this class) to capture finger prints and smudges

1 out of 5 eggsBeats Audio is a Dealbreaker

Pros: -Excellent performance, especially on games
-Great hardware for the price

Cons: -Beats audio renders external audio devices effectively useless. The driver arbitrarily changes default device settings and has a "user friendly" interface that prevents you from accessing advanced settings and configuring it manually. This wouldn't be a big issue if the sound hardware wasn't proprietary; generic Windows drivers are not compatible. You can't even install the standard IDT audio drivers (which the Beats garbage is a reskin of) that would allow you to configure your audio settings.

And good luck trying to get headsets to work. Beats automatically registers headsets as "Communications Devices" and prevents you from using them as default audio devices, meaning sound still plays from your speakers when you plug headphones in. Brilliant.

Also the hard drive speed is abysmal.

4 out of 5 eggsover all a good computer

Pros: nice big screen, fast processor, usb 3.0, love the key board the keys feel nice and solid! A8 processor is awesome plays youtube videos and netflix/hulu with no problems. I haven't tried to play any games on it yet but I have no doubts that it will hold up just fine in light to mid level games! I wanted the A10 but happy I went with this processor as it is more than enough for my needs and is cheaper.

Cons: comes with only 6 gigs of ram, now when I upgraded the ram I am stuck with a useless 2 gig stick of ram! The finger tip scanner is more a pain than anything. What do I need this for? It keeps bugging you to use it whenever you switch users or turn on the computer. Comes with a lot of junk programs which are easily erased. 5400 rpm Hard drive stinks, really slow! I replaced it with a Samsung 830 120gb SSD which is wicked!

Other Thoughts: bought this computer for 549.99, upgraded the hard drive to a Samsung 830 120gb SSD, upgraded ram to 8gb with adata 4gb memory stick. So I am up to $800 with 2 year replacement plan. If you buy this computer with all that you are going to pay over $1000, don't be afraid to up grade your own computer you can get a lot for a lot less! These up grades made this computer awesome, with out the upgrades it is a good computer!

3 out of 5 eggsRebate was declined

Pros: I like the computer, though I upgraded to Windows 8 and some of the HP bloatware seemed to hiccup. No worries, I "refreshed" the computer (I think that's a new term under Windows 8) which took away all the bloatware. Now it runs a litle funny, with the screen blanking after only about 15 seconds, but it's a minor nuisance.

Cons: So there is a $50 rebate from HP. I filled out the form, cut the barcode off the box, sent it in, and HP DECLINED it, saying that it was a DUPLICATE serial number. How is that possible, when you have the original barcode? $50, goodbye

3 out of 5 eggsHP laptop screen is broken

Pros: Loud and clear speakers. Lots of features for the price compared to other laptops. Handy fingerprint reader to log in to the pc and websites. Has minimal bloatware which can be uninstalled. Hard drive is large enough for most users. Memory upgrade could improve the responsiveness because sometimes it takes time to load applications.

Cons: Screen broke within a month. The whole lcd is white and displays off colors. I'll have to send it to HP for warranty for screen defect. I expected a laptop to last a long time. HP has to improve its quality control.
