5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy Customer

Pros: Excellent resolution, sharp screen
Decent speakers
Great bang for buck (@ refurbished price)
Good Battery Life

Cons: Somewhat cheap plastic
Awkward touchpad buttons
17 HP-branded programs installed, incl. Wild Tangent.

Other Thoughts: I use it as a programming/development machine. The screen is sharp and clear, allowing me to program with 8-point font at 1600x900, on a 14" screen.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Pavillion dm4

Pros: Awesome laptop. Great features at a great price. This is my daily workhorse. Bought it new, not refurbished. Extremely happy with the performance; I usually have several applications open at the same time, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and browser. I also run some scientific models once in a while, with no issues. I did upgrade RAM to 16GB (maximum possible with Win7 Home). Bloatware can be removed for the most part. I used CCleaner to tweak the registry and startup files. Newegg was good as usual.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I have another HP laptop at home for personal use, and have been enjoying it a lot as well (AMD A8 processor with 6GB RAM). Like them better than some of the offerings from Dell.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic little laptop

Pros: I know this is a refurb so I can't guarantee everyone else's buying experience will be the same as mine, but pretty much every piece of this laptop is a "pro" to me. This is exactly what I was looking for. 1600x900 resolution looks great on the 14" screen, I'm sorry I refuse to buy a laptop with this new crummy 1366x786 resolution that computer companies have standardized for no other reason than ripping off their customers.

- The processor is powerful
- There is ample RAM
- Even at 5400rpm the hard drive seems pretty speedy and gets a 5.9 rating in WEI
- The graphics are really nice compared to any other laptop I have ever used.
- I know it's a side-effect of the small size but I love how light this thing is.
- Battery life! This puppy has fantastic battery life, it says seven but on power saver I can get six hours out of it (tested). In fact the battery is the thing I've had the hardest time adjusting to, because the percentages it can get to and still have 1-2 hours left. I keep getting paranoid i'll need to charge it when I don't actually have to.
- The Speakers! Okay the bass is really lacking as one could expect but the clarity is great, it easily outpaces all my last four laptops.
- And last but not least: it has Windows 7, not 8! Not that I think Windows 8 doesn't have potential and can't become something good, but if I have to make a choice between an established operating system and a brand new operating system that is guaranteed to need adjustments? I'm gonna take the established operating system.

Cons: Okay, if you really really want me to nitpick I could say the bloatware it comes with, but even that is really easy to remove with any uninstallation software, and some of it is actually quite useful if you give it a chance, like HP's update software that will update bios, drivers and other software for you.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I really can't say enough about this laptop. Is it the greatest laptop ever? I highly doubt it. Is it exactly what I was looking for? Definitely. It's light, small yet powerful, higher resolution than 1366x786, great battery life, and still has Windows 7. It's just great :).
