1 out of 5 eggsIssues upon issues

Pros: Great specs, computer generally runs great and at a great value.

Cons: I've had a bad experience with CyberPowerPC and this laptop in particular.

The trackpad and microphone was DOA. The SD card slot only recognized the insertion of a card on occasion. The CD cover was broken (falling off). After about 4-5 months the power supply failed - it was the port in the physical laptop.

Needless to stay, the failure to charge was the final straw and I sent it in for RMA - after $40+ for shipping. Six weeks later I got the laptop back. Microphone STILL does not function. I specifically sent a letter with the laptop outlining all the issues - they did not perform due diligence and ensure everything was fixed. So, I called CyberPowerPC and spoke to a senior representative who told me I would have to send it back for RMA, but they'll cover the shipping this time - how gracious but I can't afford the time lost to send this in again. Needless to say, the rep. essentially said 'tough cookies' as another RMA was my only option.

All in all, I've been disappointed in this product more than anything and will not purchase from this company in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We do apologize for the inconvenience. The RMA had already been issued from what is being described. Otherwise if you still have not received your RMA number, please email directly to and we’ll look in to the matter. Also include your contact information so we can quickly provide any available updates regarding the issue.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

Pros: Keyboard feels great. Everything seems very sturdy (Except for the disk tray, which isn't a huge deal to me)... Love the red backlit keyboard. There isn't really any "bloatware"... There's an extra slot for a hard drive too. Everything works like it should. Haven't had ANY issues. So far.. I've had for under a week.

Cons: There really aren't many cons that I can think of... The fan has one speed. HIGH.. It's noisy too. But that's not a major con to me so no eggs off. The buttons on the touchpad require quite alot of force too. (seems to loosen up over time or maybe I'm just getting used to it).. It comes with windows 8. I usually HATE windows 8. Every laptop I've used, it's never worked right and it drives me nuts. But it works fine on this laptop, and I find that I actually prefer it!.. Also.. The caps lock doesn't have a light to tell you if its on or not. Other than those MINOR issues. I really don't have many bad things to say... Except I am gonna need to get a bigger HDD. 750 isn't enough for me.

Other Thoughts: I was a bit hesitant buying this laptop, there weren't many reviews and I couldn't really find many reviews on the internet. Not to mention I've never even heard much of anything about CyberpowerPC. But I can honestly say I'm happy with my purchase! Would buy it again. From what I've found, this is the cheapest gaming laptop for what it has. If there are any future issues, I'll post them.

5 out of 5 eggsReally good so far (6 months in)

Pros: Fast, reliable, no problems. It should last me 2-4 years, since I buy games only when they go on sale (with a few exceptions).

After that, better streaming technology (such as Steam streaming, which is showing serious promise but has problems still) should allow me to use a newly purchased desktop to stream to this laptop. The laptop is well made and the 1920x1200 resolution should be great as long as streaming allows me to keep up with the technology.

2nd, empty drive bay was something I very much wanted. It comes with a decent-sized 750gig HDD, but I wanted a spot for a fast 120gig SSD I happened to recently buy. Installed that and it's working perfectly as a game drive. Expecially important for Diablo 3, which has stuttering problems on anything but an SSD.

Backlit keyboard was also something I wanted, though I have no idea why. I love the red color. Again, no idea why but it appeals to the designed in me. Just looks gorgeous.

Read some things about smudges being a problem, but it's been great for me. Maybe I don't notice those types of things?

Cons: Fan speed is max or off, and only controlled by a button on the physical front of the laptop. I wish I could set it to somewhere in between, since off it gets too hot, and on it's very noisy.

The built in speakers are alright. Much better than a basic laptop sound, but it's nothing amazing, in my opinion. I'm not an audiophile, but I do like decent quality sound. Not really an issue as I use a headset 100% of the time, so the speakers are fine when I need to show my girlfriend a video or something where I need speakers.

Other Thoughts: When I first got the notebook, the video drivers were an issue. Nvidia Experience has been reliable in getting the correct new drivers, and it's been working flawlessly for months now that driver support is fixed from Nvidia (there were some problems with 770m series driver support last year).

I also installed some laptop ram I got (faster speed) but the sticks were not 3.5volt. I didn't realize that and got crashes for days, not figuring out what the problem was until I looked at the spec sheet for the 100th time. I've just always used 5v, and never run into that problem. After I went back to the previous RAM, it has been stable without any problems since.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Choice

Pros: - Great specs and can run almost every game on max settings (CS:GO, TF2, Skyrim, Civ 5 Brave New World, BioShock Infinite, League of Legends, DotA 2, etc.)

- One of, if not, the lowest priced 770M laptop on the market (as of late August '13)

- Great battery life (~2h20m constant use)

- Very vibrant screen with decent display angles

- Great feeling keyboard with nicely backlit keys (keyboard and logo shine red; speakers, touchpad, and accessory buttons shine blue)

- Whisper quiet with the extra exhaust fan off

- Well ventilated and with the extra exhaust fan cools very nicely (Idle: ~47->39C, 100%: 75C->59C)

- Plenty of monitor and audio plug-ins available

- Speakers are decently loud for laptop speakers at max volume

- Very little/no bloatware

Cons: - Webcam quality is nothing spectacular

- Built-in Microphone is bad

- Touchpad buttons require good amount of effort to push

- Windows 8 compatability issues - check your devices! Razer Megalodon (USB Headset) doesn't seem to work, even with Razer's 2.12 firmware

- 770M only used when plugged in

- Fairly heavy to carry around

- No media keys; the P1 and P2 keys can't be bound as media buttons (e.g. using one as play/pause in foobar2000)

- Will collect fingerprints and wrist marks very easily on the black metal parts

- DPC latency is moderately high (on average 1150-1200 µs)

- First-world problem: I had to get a bigger laptop bag to fit it in

Other Thoughts: This laptop competes with my home desktop (3770k w/ GTX 560ti 2GB) and is very convenient to game on. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. However, I've been encountering issues with sleep mode and ping spikes when in-game via wireless. After initial boot, the laptop doesn't have any issues with wireless signal or lag, but after putting it to sleep and waking it up, about every 5~10 seconds, 2-3 second ping spikes will occur on wireless. It's incredibly disruptive in gaming via the wireless card. This doesn't happen at all when plugged into wired post-sleep. In order to fix this, after it's awaken you'll have to either a.) disable and re-enable the wireless card (Control Panel->Network and Internet->Network Connections->Right-click, disable then enable) or b.) restart the PC. Overall not too bad of an issue, but an issue none-the-less. I already expected some Windows 8 compatibility issues, and most of the cons listed are just a bit nit-picking, so overall no eggs off.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat New Laptop

Pros: Great graphics card for the cost. Cpu doesn't hold it back so long as you overclock it. The body itself is really sleek. The keyboard is really spacious with a red under-glow that looks awesome. I paid $1379 which was the best deal I could find with a Nvidia GTX 770 graphics card.

Cons: No dedicated volume button is a little annoying. The top user buttons are things I don't really need shortcuts for . (airplane mode? for a laptop? I'll probably use that once in a blue moon) Windows 8 is really annoying. Hopefully 8.1 will be an improvement.

Other Thoughts: Really great value gaming laptop. Best model if you're looking for the GTX 770M from a trustworthy manufacturer.
