1 out of 5 eggsFried Motherboard

Pros: Not a bad size, battery life, or interface.

Cons: First copy was DOA.

Replacement had a dead wireless card that Dell thankfully covered under warranty. Served well for light internet use for awhile.

After 2.5 years, the motherboard up and died. Dell Support won't talk to me (due to the expired warranty) and I can't find a way to get a quote on having the motherboard replaced without calling a "Premium" service line to charge me unspecified amount for the privilege of telling me that my motherboard is dead.

I'm not going to jump headlong into whatever they want to charge me. I'm not even going to whine about how the motherboard croaked after 2.5 years of careful use. I'm just going to find another manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: The first one of these I received was DOA, and Newegg was an absolute doll in having it replaced within a week. However, they sent me a "new" laptop that had already had it's service tags registered somewhere in the Middle East.

When I called Dell, they told me I had to call a toll line for international customers.

A little unfair that I'm getting porked again from Dell on the excuse that Newegg sent me a Middle Eastern laptop, when I am and have always been a US customer. Not sure if I should blame Dell for being obstinate, Newegg for sending me used hardware under the guise of "new", or myself for buying Dell.

1 out of 5 eggsComputer Failure

Pros: There is no pro's to this computer. We purchased the first one for our sons birthday and it lasted exactly 3 weeks, now our second one got the 7 beeps and is now collecting dust!! I see many forums out there in reference to the cpu and overheating issues to say the least. Dell should have recalled this useless computer or at least told everyone that the life expectancy is only 2 years! I will never purchase a Dell and for the 600.00 I spent what a waste of my hard earned money...Disgusted over this product and you should not be selling these

Cons: Everything

4 out of 5 eggsGood Entry-Level Laptop

Pros: Better than a Netbook for roughly the same price. Enough functionality to support a basic user. Browser, Skype, Music, Movies. Don't expect too much and you'll be happy with it.

Cons: The unit has poor battery longevity, on standby, or when the screen is off. In standby, I managed no more than 5 hours. With the screen off, power lasted barely longer than with it on. Mouse buttons are clumsy, sometimes I could need to push more deliberately for lack of connection (as opposed to a minor, glancing thumb click). Occasionally the system would crash when I requested that it perform more than 2 simultaneous processor intensive actions (Example: Recording 2 video streams & performing Windows Updates).

Other Thoughts: I purchased this laptop as a Security DVR. I needed something small, that included a KVM (Keyboard/Video/Mouse). It was a very inexpensive purchase well under budget and served the my needs for over a year with little issue. It still works well, but my needs have changed so I've taken it offline.

1 out of 5 eggsTouch Pad Frozen Not Working

Pros: Nothing out of the ordinary.

Cons: Has a recurring problem with the touch pad locking up and making the laptop worthless. First time, Dell was helpful in fixing the problem as it was within the warranty, but now my laptop is just a few older than a tyear and they want to charge a trouble shoot fee and repair fee, totalling nearly $200. This for a chronic problem that many users are having with their Inspiron series laptops. Poor support, I will never buy a Dell product again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the basics!

Pros: * Cheap price tag, got on a sale.
* 4GB of DDR3
* Radeon HD 4200, better than Intel's HD
* DVD drive well made, no errors in burning =)
* Plays videos perfectly!
* 3D design is mesmerizing at first sight 0.0

Cons: * Installed OEM Windows is slow, but reinstalling helps it boot faster, about a 30 sec boot.
* Weak CPU, but sufficient for most needs
* Play some 3D games, and all 2D games but lags a lot on League of Legends on low settings

On the picky side...
* Heats in the CPU area
* LED-LCD screen does not have enough contrast, and glares a lot.
* Near the top speaker area, dirt can get in there and hard to remove.
* No BlueTooth, but I don't use it much.
* 4HR life, I just plug in the AC power.

Other Thoughts: * Using CPUZ, it says there are 3 RAM slots, but I opened the laptop up and checked that there was only 2 slots all filled up by 2x2GB sticks made by NANYA
* Since there is no BlueTooth module, there is an empty connector. But it is not PCI-E.
* The Wireless Card is half-height.
* There's not much to upgrade, such as SSD on PCI-E because it is half-height.
* I also replaced the thermal compound on the CPU and solved the problem of heating up in the upper left corner.
* I also like how DELL hides the OEM sticker in the battery area away from view for the simplistic look.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy

Pros: Excellent picture, fast loading and doesn't seam to be a lot of junk software preloaded. Upgraded MS Office already and changed to my own virus software package with no problems at all. Arrived at my house within 48 hours of ordering, thanks Newegg.

Cons: Nothing as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Purchased for my kid graduation gift from high school and she loved it. It boots very fast, connects wireless very fast. I have tried every function and have been very satisfied. My wife saw my kid watching netflix on it and now wants one too, lol.

1 out of 5 eggsNot as good as others

Pros: None really.

Cons: This laptop is about twice as thick and heavy as your average laptop. It gets hot on the bottom and is made very cheaply. Even replacing the screen is difficult. At 15.6" it should have a full keyboard but Dell decided not to put one in.

Other Thoughts: Dell also has a hinge problem. After about two years the hinges start to come loose and the LCD cover ends up cracking and causes more problems. Also, the mouse buttons will probably have to be replaced every two years.

3 out of 5 eggsOk Laptop . . except for the webcam

Pros: Good Price, Very good speed and performance for the money. Has had no problems so far. Good wireless card performance too.

Cons: Biggest problem is webcam has been missing from the list of divice because the wire detachs somewhere near the camera. Dell says its a common problem in this model. Also have that plastic feel like built, which nobody likes.
