The Dell Inspiron 14z ultrabook features powerful performance in compact packages. These notebooks have Intel Core i7 processors, so multimedia applications run seamlessly even when multiple programs are simultaneously active. Additionally, they weigh less than 4 pounds.

The internal drives also improve the quality of displayed graphics. An Inspiron 14z can produce higher frame rates than some comparable ultrabooks. Gamers can play many of their favorite titles with the visual clarity they'd expect to find in desktops. The 14-inch screen is large enough that even minute details are clearly displayed in 1,366 x 768 resolution.

Graphic display options can be toggled for individual applications as well. By diminishing display quality, users can improve the ultrabook's performance speed. This feature can be useful for those don't need high-definition images from every program.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance for an Ultrabook

Pros: I purchased this Dell Inspiron Ultrabook from a friend just a while back ago. I installed a clean version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit and got all of the drivers from the Dell website. After that, I was up and running without any problems.

I use this mainly for school and photography work. It serves the purpose just right. The Core i5 CPU along with 8GB of DDR3 RAM and the RADEON HD 7570M make a perfect combination towards what I need because "I did my research" unlike the previous reviewer.

I also like the speed of the SSD. Booting into Windows from a cold boot takes roughly under 15 seconds after a bit of tweaking and modification with the operating system. Loading CS6 is also very quick. This is a very flexible ultrabook if your mind is also flexible.

Of course, the DVD/CD burner is also a bonus, even though I rarely use it. But it is there just in case you need to use it.

Cons: I can't find anything I dislike about this ultrabook. Everything, down from the Wi-Fi, bluetooth, the battery life, it just works as I expected.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't help the fact that the previous reviewer wrote such an ignorant review on this product even though it was clearly his FAULT at purchasing something that he was too lazy to research about. As a matter of fact, the tech knowledge of that review should just be a zero... pure ignorance.

Where do I start?

1st of all, this ultrabook does have 2 USB ports, but that's okay because I knew that before my purchase.

The speakers are decent, but what do you expect out from mobile devices? Just use your own external speakers of headphones, it's not that difficult to use.

Too lazy to get use to the touchpad? Connect an external mouse. Very simple process, believe me.

The keyboard is small, well DUH it's an ultrabook. This isn't a 24inch desktop replacement laptop. Laptops, Netbooks, Macbooks, and Ultrabooks are all different. Do NOT compare them to each other.

Buy this product only if you have done your homework and actually have some sort of technological intelligence.

1 out of 5 eggsKeep Looking

Pros: It has a CD/DVD burner and it's cheap.

Cons: Where do I start?
1st of all, let me make it clear, I did not buy my 14z-5423 from Newegg---just want to get a heads-up out here for those thinking of buying.
---Dell quality has really slipped. Used be, I bought a Dell and was automatically happy with the quality and service after the sale. No more!
My 14z was great at first, until I used it for a while.
Using the touch-pad makes the curser jitter constantly. I have tried reloading the drivers to no avail.
I was told by the salesman that the 14z would play Blu-Ray---NOT!
The speakers are very anemic and tinny.
I hate that it only has 2 USB ports, needs at least one more.
The keyboard is really small, about the size of my netbook keyboard---an inch narrower than
my current Hp 14" laptop.
The screen/lid is really flimsy.

The good---It does have a CD/DVD Writer/reader.

This is definitely NOT a keeper.

Other Thoughts: It's all on me that I bought this. I thought I was getting a good buy for the investment. Turns out I made a huge mistake.
This is my last Dell product.
