2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -It was fairly cheap
-The RAM and HD can be replaced very easily
-Four USB ports, two on either side of the machine, make it suitable for both right and left-handed people

Cons: -It only came with 1GB of RAM, despite being advertised to have two
-It had Windows 7 32-bit, despite being advertised as having Window 7 64-bit
-Numerous counts of hardware failure
-Slow as molasses
-Dirty keyboard interior, filled with much dust and hair.

Other Thoughts: This machine was clearly a wreck when I got it. The battery that came with it was only capable of lasting for about ten minutes at most and had to be replaced. Within a year, one of the USB ports and the keyboard died.

However, the biggest problem was by far the processing speed. While the computer ran adequately after starting up, it would progressively slow down over time until it virtually froze. In order to avoid this, it had to be restarted from time to time. This only worsened over time, eventually getting to the point where it practically froze mere minutes after starting up. It needed to be formatted at that point. Replacement of the RAM and HD saw no improvement in the computer's processing speed.

Conclusion: this thing was clearly so old with so many components just ready to fry, that it honestly shouldn't have been sold. On top of the false advertising and dirty keyboard, and you have a company that should not be trusted with their refurbished laptops.

2 out of 5 eggsRefurbished=Someone Else's Problems

Pros: It was cheaper than buying a new one.
It was for a young teenager to use to surf the web, type papers, and play some Minecraft. It was sufficiently powered to do fulfill its purpose.

Cons: Had to send one back. It literally stopped recognizing the hard drive at about the 29th day. RMA it, New Egg was super fast about it. The next came the screen has imperfections in it and the battery is no good after about 30 days. Instead of reading as "refurbished", which insinuates that problem were present BUT were fixed, it should read "someone else wouldn't tolerated this garbage but for a discount will you?" I only give 2 eggs because New Egg is always good about taking care of you AND I should know better than to try refurbished....

Other Thoughts: Put the money toward a new lap top, stay away from refurbished....

1 out of 5 eggsThis laptop was junk

Pros: Pc was received and the power supply was broken. It was not replaced but I did receive a credit after complaining

Cons: The laptop started to malfunction after 3 months of light use. It now shuts down for no apparent reason and the screen has several lines on it. I will not buy a refurb from newegg again. I am a long time customer and have seen quality and service deteriorate.

4 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: it is a 64 bit pc
came with 4gb ram instead of the listed 2
hdd was larger then listed as well

Cons: came with 32 bit win 7 install while stating its 64 bit yeah no real issues just a an OS upgrade to the 64 bit. would have been a little ignoring if a didn't already have a 64 bit disk

Other Thoughts: For many its going to confuse them when u list it as a 64 bit PC and yes it is but you install wins 32 bit no real problem here you can even keep it as the 32 bit there is no real differences between wins 32 bit and wins 64 bit

3 out of 5 eggsHad to send back

Pros: Arrived nice and clean, seemed like it was functioning properly, but I only had it running for about an hour before I packed it back up for return

Cons: All looked great, but they shipped with only 1 GB Memory instead of the 2 GB that it was supposed to have. Probably not a reflection on the actual product function, more about someone not doing their job properly and sending this unit out with the wrong amount of memory.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop

Pros: Looks great with covering. includes a real, legit disk of windows 7, very easy to work on. docking port

Cons: supplied battery a little weak, made multiple repairs to unit while working on it, but easy. Screen brightness somtimes flickers lower, as if in an auto-light sensing mode.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this laptop after working on the same models at work, which are extremely easy to work on. Over the last year it's been putting up with me as an owner, but through some repairs and upgrades it's kept on kick'n.

Well I've listed the pro's and con's. Here's what I done to it over the past year:
- upgraded to high capacity battery
- upgraded the keyboard with a backlit model
- replaced the laptop hinges
- upgraded the quick-replacment drive with a CD/DVD RW
- changed the drive from an 80gig to 320gig, with dual boot, partitions, etc.

the only foul-up I've had over the months were the low capacity battery took a dump after a few months, and I had to replace the monitor lid after a fall.

But, it's been working great! if you're a do-it yourselfer buy this and a phillip screw driver and that's all you'll need!

Most laptops can be rather difficult to work on, not this one. It keeps up with me!

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Looks clean.

Cons: Trackpad doesn't work... Wifi adapter doesn't work...

Other Thoughts: I needed a cheap computer to browse the web, and for nearly $400 I got a machine that can't do it. Can't get online if there's no working wifi adapter, and I can't do anything without a trackpad either.

If I wanted a machine that requires a mouse and a hard-wired connection I'd just spend the money on a desktop.

2 out of 5 eggsSome/good-Some/BAD!

Pros: The E6400 is a good general purpose laptop...if you get one that works!

Cons: The unit I received still had food stuck on the keyboard-Unbelievable! The unit was generally dirty. The CD/RW did not work unless you tapped on the tray after closing it. This unit was someone else's reject. I base that on the extra programs I found on it which normally don't come preinstalled. I had to RMA the unit.

Other Thoughts: It has been my experience that the quality of these so called refurbished machines is generally pretty bad. You will have to RMA about 50% of them. Some units look like they have not been touched, except for reinstalling the OS. Some units look great. The RMA I got back came with a Win7 32bit disk and Win7 64bit installed. No attention to detail! I am glad the replacement unit worked...Good Luck!

1 out of 5 eggsRefurbished: DELL E6400ASB

Pros: Cheap for a couch potato computer.

Cons: Keys 6,7,y,u.h,j,n,m stopped working in 50 days. Those keys and others started falling off of the keyboard. So, with a 30 day warranty not much I can do.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for ($250). Go ahead and buy a new one. Less chance of getting a piece of c*^p. Only out is get a wireless keyboard and mouse.... I HATE LAPTOPS!!!!
