5 out of 5 eggsAlienware M14X R2

Pros: I own an Alienware M14X R2 directly from
i5 3210, GT 650M, 512GB SSD, intel Centrino 6250 WiFi+WiMAX card(WiDi compatable).

First of all this laptop is absolutely Amazing overall. Even though it has its hardware limitations it gives the user some overclock options depending on the CPU selected.
It has a socket that can support up to the i7 3820QM, and 16GB of DDR 2133mhz RAM.
the GT650 overclocks very easily and the cooling is EXCELLENT.
Never breaks 67C, EVER.

The lighting customizations are excellent. The gave the keyboard 3 zones for lighting. as well as the grills, the from branding, and the touch pad.

It's 900P screen is very bright and rated at 40% NTSC which is excellent color reproduction for such a small laptop.

It's fairly small, smaller foot print that your standard 15inch laptops.

Its amazingly durable and has excellent survivablitiy.
I have spilled milk on mine, it has been dropped and thrown a few times, it has dealt with being thrown in backpacks and being roughhandled. It's survived everything I've thrown at it and still runs like the day I unboxed it.
Boots in 8~9seconds with an SSD, allows mSATA, and 2.5inch SSDs, it has the ability to run Caching.

The best pro of all is that Alienware's support and warranty policy is AMAZING.
Don't call dell if you get an alienware, you call alienware, and they treat you like gold.
No week long RMA's, no poor treatment, no outsourced calling. None of that bullcrap that other companies try to pull. You call in, they do some diagnostics, they look up your address records for the laptop and they send you a replacement part shipped next day or overnight. They don't shove you through a lame long RMA process, they give you a replacement part, a return label and all they ask in return is for you to drop off the defective part at your local fedex. So easy and so nice to be treated this well. I've come to love their system its absolutely amazing to be treated like you matter to them.
Every alienware is preregistered after it gets taken off the floor by its motherboard and is shipped out with their gold standard support for 1 year.
Call 1800alienware, give them your service tag and express service code and they treat you like GOLD.

I've had problems with mechanical hard drive failures because I'm pretty rough with my computers, so they gave me an SSD for its durability, and their biggest worry is if I would be upset by losing a few GB for the SSD.

Alienware's support is the best thing about the alienware products, if you want to be treated right and not treated like a piece of junk as a customer a laptop like this is well worth it.

Cons: Not really a con, just a note: It's built like a freaking tank.
It feels plastic on the outside but handling it, it feels like a tank.
It's a bit heavy but it has a metal frame chassis underneath and heavy plastics for covering

Glossy screen, while nice for colors and depth, is a pain for the users if you use it in sunny areas.

Limited upgradability. It is a 14inch mind you, but it does have a soldered socket for its GPU.
The 1gb 650M benches at P2300 stock, but can be overclocked to beat a GTX 660M stock, and it handles the heat excellently, but it will have a gpu limitation.
CPU, RAM, hard drives, are upgradable, but the GPU is not.

Other Thoughts: I don't understand why this listing on newegg is so insanely high priced. I didn't pay anywhere near as much for mine and I have a 512GB SSD.

I bought my M14X R2 direct from with an i5 1gb 650M GPU, 6GB of RAM, Intel Centrino 6250 wifi card, and 750GB HDD for 1254$ including taxes and shipping.
My current SSD was given to me free of charge because of a hard drive failure.(Was my fault but alienware support is AMAZING for part replacements and offered it to me.)
I don't get why this listing is so high. Newegg should check this, because it looks like a big pricing error. It should be less than 1200$ overall for this build in particular. This price is no where near as close as the listing.

I absolutely love this laptop, its such a good system for general computing and gaming.
gets around 4~5hours of battery life normal usage which is a bit low but it does have a discrete card in it.
It's been an absolute joy to use and the fact it survived a milk spill absolutely makes me feel like its worth it in the end.

I absolutely will buy Alienware again, no doubt about it. I have already gotten an Alienware m17X R4 from them and it's been phenomenal.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat laptop awesome price

Pros: As most of you know alienware can be pricy at Times. I love this laptop so much i just bought another for my gf who also games. not only is this priced low but it has the 2gb version of the 650m instead of the 999.99 dollar original that only has the 1gb version. so for the same price as the original your getting more card its great!

Cons: battery life but who games unplugged?

Other Thoughts: pick one up heck pick two up.
