3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: light weight. much better than higher priced netbooks.

Cons: Hard drive went bad in under 90 days. I would have gone 4 eggs if it didn't bite the dust so fast...

Other Thoughts: Great laptop for the price. You really can't beat it. But if it doesn't work then it doesn't matter how cheap it was. I am waiting for NewEgg to send me another... I am fairly confident as of now that it will get resolved. I have always had great service.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Deal

Pros: This notebook started life as an XP machine, and made the transition to Windows 7 without blinking an eye. Its fast, has plenty of usable memory with 2 GB, and handles downloads very well.

By today's standards its probably a basic model, but for everyday computing, including online work, its an amazing deal at the price I paid for it ($210).

I was so impressed with the machine that I recommended it to my Aide who also bought one; she loves her 'new' computer.

Cons: None that I've found.

Other Thoughts: If you have the chance to get this little gem at a good Newegg price, do so. You won't be disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsDefinitely wasn't refurbished

Pros: Seemed like a reasonable deal at the time

Cons: This laptop was NOT refurbished. Someone at MTC Tech (the company that "refurbishes" them) just made sure that it could power on and then shipped it, I guess.

The laptop I received had a battery that holds about a 30 minute charge - they didn't even spring for the aftermarket $20 new battery. The heatsink/fan was completely jammed with dust causing the laptop to nearly overheat just minutes after powering it on. The built-in speaker was broken. The LCD screen is defective -- a defective video cable to the motherboard. The display is garbled and sometimes disappears when opening/closing the lid.

The worst thing? MTC decided to put their warranty sticker (warranty void if removed) over one of the screws that holds in the hard drive. That's right, you can't even replace the hard drive without voiding their warranty. So the first thing I intended to do, replace the hard drive with an SSD, is out of the question.

This was a very poor product and not worth the money.

Other Thoughts: Maybe you will get lucky if you buy one. I sure didn't.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Follow through from Shipper

Pros: Good value...initially.

Cons: Refurbishing company that sold this machine for New Egg has zero customer service. I received a bad machine and called their 800 number provided. Only get voice mail and no one returns calls. I have called 4 times and have left multiple messages. They have not yet responded to e-mail either. I feel it was a good deal and worth purchasing. However, they follow through from the warranty company is worthless. If you purchase and receive a bad machine, you will get no help or answers what so ever. Caution.

4 out of 5 eggsThanks to Dell works Well

Pros: 1. There are some nice tweaks in the Bios.
2. Came with 80 gig hdd.
3. Came with Win7 Home prem 64bit and repair disk.
4. Everything works.

Cons: 1. Poor vetting by New Egg.
2. It was filthy when I got it.
3. Food particles and other debris stuck in the keyboard.
4. Sticker goo in different places on the laptop.

Other Thoughts: I had to wipe it down real well with alcohol and use goo b gone to remove old sticker goo from the laptop plus blowout the keyboard to remove loose debris. I know it is a leaseback and I know it is used and I know it is refurbished but c'mon, at least clean it up before shipping it out to the new user.

3 out of 5 eggsReferbished - NOT the one I got

Pros: Pretty clean except for some sticky residue where stickers may have been. Runs good except DVD/CD drive will not read a single disk.

Cons: After activation and installing drivers from the internet for my outboard hardware wanted to install my applications from disk - Click on drive, insert disk, close drive drawer, wait 5 min. Disk ejects, Message "insert disk" - I ran in this loop through 5 known good disks - Frustrated. Refurbished, somewhat. I have hours into the setup. I'll try installing through my network from desktop.
I'll let you all know how Newegg handles this.

Other Thoughts: A roll of the dice.
I never buy "Refurbished" , but I do buy used on the bay.
I don't know what came over me.
I paid $225, the next day it drops to $215

4 out of 5 eggsA good deal, mostly

Pros: Low cost, works well, clean

Cons: Bad battery

Other Thoughts: Like some others who have reviewed this product, the computer is great but the battery is completely dead and useless. It fully discharges from full in 30 mins. Otherwise, I got a clean, functional basic laptop for a great price. I only need basic functionality for three more semesters of school, so I am happy with the purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop, Substandard NewEgg refurbish company

Pros: I am very savvy, I do IT support and repair for both free and paying clients. I got an old D630 from a client who was upgrading to a new desktop. I played with the D630 myself (for my kids), and ended up upgrading it to a 2.4Ghz, 4GB ram and an SSD. I was very impressed with how it was quite viable with these things.

Cons: The laptop has no issues itself, unless it's refurbished by a sub par company, like the one NewEgg used when we bought 4 of these, last summer.

Other Thoughts: I was not involved, but recommended NewEgg for buying refurbished D630 Latitudes. I recommended them to my son's small school last summer. Over the summer they ordered four of them. I volunteer my time to do all the PC work at the school. I eventually 'dealt' with all the problems (and repaired them properly) on the refurbished laptops that came from the NewEgg refurbishing company (who is not NewEgg, NewEgg rocks!).

Luckily the 4 laptops (knock on wood) have been intrinsically solid. The 4 users are teachers, who unfortunately did not tell me till it was too late there were problems (they did not want to bother anyone). There were several issues. Of the 4 laptops, 3 had 'brand new' generic standard (no name) batteries. One was a Used 9cell Dell battery (still going strong). All 3 generic batteries were no good. Two did not work without AC power on day one, the third lasted a month before it was of no use. I have since swapped out the generic batteries with Genuine Dell batteries and have had no problems since. 1 out of the 4 laptops initially had an sticking keyboard (teacher had been using and external keyboard she was so frustrated). I swapped that keyboard out with a spare I had. Of the four laptops, only 2 had chargers worked. One was totally the wrong type (plug and voltage) and one did not work at all. I ended up ordering more chargers so each person has dual chargers (so they would not have to carry them back and forth). Silly things that were easily avoidable, if the refurbish people were not being either i n e p t or c h e a p. The school paid about $280 each, at that time (over $1000), and to nickel and dime and put in generic poor quality batteries, what to save $50? I have since bought 10 more D630 laptops from e b a y (mostly a seller called G i l c o) and have had excellent luck. I'm very impressed with the D630 Latitude design and quality, just be careful with who refurbishes it!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value!

Pros: Not sure how I could have gotten more bang for my buck. I spend all last night checking the laptop out, and it's awesome. It even supports virtualization extensions. They also gave me a larger hardrive (160 gb).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: NewEgg.com is a great company... I've always had good experiences with them.
