4 out of 5 eggsoverpriced

Pros: all in all its a decent laptop, and well cooled for an intel mini-furnace, though like all intel crp its overpriced.

Cons: overpriced
runs hot. yes it is 'cool running' for an intel, but still you need a laptop cooler if you game or you WILL bsod.
win 8 is clunky

Other Thoughts: all in all alienware did a good job with this despite being handicapped by intel cpu, and the associated heat/stability issues. win 8 is clunky but easily remedied.
the price is a bit excessive when you can spend $1300 for a MSI with a more powerful AMD A10 apu and have a machine that runs cooler and can double as a buisness machine if needed. This is a good laptop if you can afford a seperate machine for critical work, but if not go with the cheaper, more powerful MSI/AMD A10 machine.

Intel has always had heat issues especially in laptops, but their quality control has gone down the toilet the last ten years, getting worse and worse at 'lemons' or bad chips that have bugs in them or flat out dont run at all. hence all the refurb intel machines floating around as of late.
This however is if youre lucky enough to get a good one that isnt faulty or glitchy, is one of their better processors.

I dont own this laptop, but I did have to work on one for a co-worker (downgrade to win 7) and while it is relatively fast, it runs pretty hot, and hardware drivers are buggy to install.
was able to get it going though but ymmv.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great quality of case, good system configuration, and Alienware lighting effects. Added a 1TB Drive with purchase which installed smoothly. Windows 8 is good and system did not have a lot of junk trial software gumming things up. The Price was a fair price for the Alienware MX18.

Cons: After 21/2 weeks the 'left touch pad mouse button' is already showing signs of fatigue as the left side of button is now setting below the edge of the scroll pad.

Other Thoughts: Being Alienware it would have been nice to have the name tag on the unit inscribed with my name as advertised with Alienware. Guess it is not an option when purchase through NEWEGG.
