2 out of 5 eggsDVD drive defective

Pros: Good laptop---- bought 2 laptops of this kind mainly as backup computer. big hard drive space and i7 chip. one egg for the hard drive and one egg for the i7 chip. other than that the rest is not so good---- keyboard filthy dirty, monitor flickering when use on battery mode, DVD drive it comes and goes and it usually shows up when you booth the laptop with a CD inside the drive.

Cons: Monitor is flickering when your on battery mode--- you need to tweak it but I don't know if its going to last long. I always use it with AC adapter but a couple of times I use the battery the screen drives me crazy. I increase the refresh rate and it helps. The DVD drive is defective ---- it comes and goes I tried upgrading the firmware, tweaking the bios and changing OS its the same results with the 2 laptops. Since I use it as backup and have external monitor and keyboard it works ok. I did research to fix the dvd drive its a common problem with E6410 no wonder they are selling this so cheap for an i7 laptop. IF you will use this laptop as your main computer DO NOT expect that it will work all the time for you its hard to expect good things on a refurbish item! PS when laptop arrives Keyboard is filthy and dirty lots of crumbs and dirty sticking inside the holes of the keyboard.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: comfortable keyboard.....The only thing positive is the price...

Cons: fan and the charger gets extremely hot. 3 laptop owner...Never a fan or charger gets that hot.
The computer runs very slow. It's much more slower than my 2 years old toshiba i3.

Other Thoughts: This laptop acts exactly like the pevious person has commented (Culthuu). The DVD drive will not appear anywhere on the laptop. The only time it works, is by rejecting the portable dvd drive and put it back in. The dvd icon will be showed on My computer. However, when you restart the laptop, it will be disappear again.
I don't know how to solve this problem in my situation. Since this is refurbished and can't be return.
The charger gets extremely hot, (may be able to boil water if you put a glass bottle on top of it)

Mine arrived on the third day, I was very satisfied with the shipping. The laptop showed heavily USED....
The Gray paint on ALL 4 side were already fall off. The keyboard & the screen were full with stain.(food? juice?something nasty in black & brown color)...

I've purchased many products in refurished condition. However, they are either looks exactly like new or with little wear. At least ..they were all clean.

...I guess I was just lucky...

Maybe a normal refurbished items should be like this one??

4 out of 5 eggsGood computer for the money

Pros: Computer arrived in a plain brown box that I approached with some trepidation. But inside was a computer that was obviously refurbished but not abused or broken in any way. It showed use but the keys were all there and worked and the chassis didn’t show any damage or dismay. It worked from the start with one exception (see below in cons).
Windows 7 Home Premium X64 was installed and worked just like any new laptop install. I was happy to see it had the optional 1440X900 screen as well as a decent dual band N wireless card and Bluetooth. There is also a cellular card installed but I haven’t paid much attention to that because I don’t plan to use it. The 250 Gig SATA drive was a 7200 RPM Seagate unit. The unit got also had the 9 cell optional battery and it appears to be a good, solid battery.
There was no crapware installed but there are a lot of business oriented programs. Speed is very good but the laptop does run hot. A vent on the left side does blow out seriously warm air.
The only media included were two DVDs for Windows Home Premium, one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit. This is a welcome addition. On the hard drive is a folder with all the Dell drivers but one wonders just how old these are.

Cons: One thing that made me angry before I figured it out. This laptop has a modular bay where the DVD is installed. Apparently with an adaptor it can hold another SATA hard drive so RAID can be used. Well apparently this laptop came with only 1 hard drive but in the BIOS it was set to RAID, which rendered the modular bay inactive. I thought at first the DVD was bad but it spun up fine although it didn’t show up anywhere. I had to change the SATA interface to AHCI to get it to work. Unfortunately that killed the hard drive, which needed the BIOS set to RAID to operate. Luckily I was installing an SSD so I could set the BIOS to AHCI and proceed. I’m not sure what to do if you want to use the original hard drive and the DVD. This is kind of bummer and might prompt a novice user to send the laptop back thinking the DVD was defective. Strangely enough the DVD did appeared as if by magic once for a little while while I had the original hard drive in but then disappeared again. I wasn’t paying enough attention at the time to divine the exact circumstances.

The pointing stick input device is about useless. It’s like the top part broke off. It can be used but it’s difficult. It’s not a killer flaw since you have the touchpad.

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty good deal for the money although I do miss USB3. I bought this laptop mainly because the Lenovo Ultrabook I purchased a few months ago is terrible for typing on and I’m a writer. I love the backlit keyboard on this unit. It’s comfortable to type on and the touchpad, although it is small, works like it was intended.
