5 out of 5 eggsPrecision says it all

Pros: This is the most beautiful machine I have ever owned. It truly lives up to the "Precision" nameplate.

1. Display panel: this is the brightest, sharpest panel I have ever used. This is the 1920x1080 TN model.
2. Cooling - very efficient and quiet 2-fan system that vents to the rear.
3. Case - very solid and well-made. It is a workstation and has that feel. The dimensions are larger than the typical 15 inch laptop. Component access through the bottom panel is easy. The hinges are stiff.
4. Keyboard feels good to me. It is not chiclet style - a bonus in my view. It has 3 buttons above and below the touchpad, and a pointing stick. It has a full numeric keypad.
5. Performance is brilliant. Bear in mind I am upgrading from a Core2 Duo.
6. Components like USB ports and audio jacks have a really solid feel to them. This is one of those areas where manufacturers typically cut corners, and Dell looks to have opted for premo parts.
7. Windows 7. Also easy to install Linux on this machine. No kernel signing malarkey. Tried Windows 8 on other machines -- what were they thinking? If I want a tablet I will buy a tablet with a tablet OS.
8. It comes with a large 1 Tb disk, but it is only 5400 RPM. Lots of configuration options here though, including an mSATA interface.
9. It costs a lot less than comparable workstation laptops from HP.
10. Three year warranty.

Cons: 1. It is a brick, and does not have the modern svelte and sleek look. Feel free to come brag to me in 3 years if your machine is still alive.
2. The keyboard bezel is plastic and the side borders are very thin. The side edges are the only place there is any flex at all. This is a point of potential failure from a drop or disassembly.
3. The mSATA interface is only SATA II. Not sure how much of performance impact this would have in real life. Ditto the optical interface, which is the only spot for a second drive.
