2 out of 5 eggsBad

Pros: Cheap
Widely available

Cons: Much slower then my 5 year old dell with lower stats
Keys were already off the keyboard
Video laughable
Cheap Construction
Win 7 stats were extremely low

Other Thoughts: To make it short, my old dell with win xp needed to be reformatted, which I did, only to find out that the disk was unreadable. So I installed win 7, which ran though slowly. I did research and found out I couldn't upgrade anymore due to bio restrictions. So I mentioned it to my wife, and we both stated looking at new laptops.

She bought this based on the better stats and advice from a sales rep. Worst mistake she made. We had to take the first one back when we opened it up and 5 keys fell out. The second one was better, but when my wife tried to use both wireless and wired network, it loaded slow and hung up. When I looked at the Windows rating, it was worse then my old dell. Yikes! I went for broke and tried my accounting program, and it ran extremly slow as well. I don't know why a system like this with more modern tech that runs this bad was released. For extremely basic programs, it may run decent for you, but extremely lacks any muscle. I took this back after a we

1 out of 5 eggscase falling apart C drive bad

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Cheaply made, the hinges of my toshiba are also falling apart and I have also had it less than 3 months. I have been taking great care of this laptop and was shocked and puzzled when I saw this happening. When I tried to open the laptop the last time the left hinge was completely prying open the inside of the computer about an inch. I don't know how long this computer will last. But I will never buy another Toshiba computer. It is worth it just to spend another $150-200 and buy a Acer. I have had two in the past and they were fast and efficient.

5 out of 5 eggsMy unit has been a workhorse

Pros: Absolute workhorse, runs all applications fine

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought this unit (older model with same specs except is a Vista 32 bit) for graduate school several years ago. I've taken several IT courses that required loading and running various specialty applications like Sony Vegas that are total CPU hogs, and other than beginning to run a little slower these days, this laptop has been a total workhorse with no problems. (Of course now that I said this it'll die on me now :-) We'd buy another Toshiba in a heartbeat.

4 out of 5 eggsGood laptop

Pros: For the $$ this is a good laptop. Has all i need except bluetooth. Case is plastic but so far no problems.
Paid less than $300 so great product for the price.
If you want better it will cost more, plain and simple !
Good value.

Cons: Plastic case is not the best but as long as your not rough on it it should last. No hard drive light.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk; Horrible CS

Pros: Not a single pro on this garbage.

Cons: Arrived DoA, unable to boot to disk. Obviously a HDD failure. I sent it back for repair and it has been gone now for over 3 weeks. I just got off the phone with toshiba's customer service and it was the most frustrating conversation with "customer care" I hae ever had. HDD's are on backorder if that tells you anything. AVOID TOSHIBA PRODUCTS LIKE THE PLAGUE!

5 out of 5 eggsI dont know what the fuss is all about?

Pros: This system is brilliant, running Windows 7 professional with a 8gb upgrade I did myself. Battery life is fantastic, don't expect to play games on it, this a number cruncher NOT a game machine! The new AMD APU on it is fast as heck even at 1ghz. I do play Eve online on it, it isn't all that bad, otherwise don't expect to play call of duty on it because it can't. In all things its relatively tough have dropped my bag with it in the bag, still works fine.

Cons: APU band frequencies could be higher.

Other Thoughts: To the other reviewers, it is $400 for a reason. This system isn't idiot proof, in many cases that most laptops that are idiot proof are more expensive (catch my drift?). I am an IT pro and I primarily use this for my line of work because its very versitile. This isn't a game machine, this is supposed to run internet and other applications, if you want this system to run a peak performance, do a clean install of Windows. Off the soapbox now.

1 out of 5 eggsBattery Problems

Pros: Everything that was supposed to come, did come. The computer did technically run.

Cons: My company ordered 3 of these to use. We ended up having to RMA all 3 because of battery problems. They wouldn't charge. None of them would charge. We're a tech company and know how to diagnose issues, tried many things with no success. Talked to Toshiba, they said to return them and get new ones. Decided to go with something else completely. There's no reason 3 brand new laptops should have bad batteries right off the bat.

Other Thoughts: If the battery would charge, I'm sure they'd be fine computers. But really, that's for any laptops.

2 out of 5 eggsToshiba Satellite laptops.

Pros: The computer runs very well. It's actually one of the fastest computers I've ever used.
It runs flash games/images moderately.
Youtube and other video hosting sites work just fine.
I haven't tried any real gaming on this (World of Warcraft; Call of Duty; Team Fortress 2).

Cons: The plastic casing is junk. The hinges on the laptop are falling apart, along with the screen's plastic borders barely holding the thing in place. I've had this laptop for less than three months, kept it in great care, occasionally cleaning it. Still, the right hinge snapped (Which temporarily made the charging port and disc tray uncooperative.)

Other Thoughts: This was honestly one of the most exciting things I was going to get! All of the features and the drive space for an even lower price (was on sale) was pointless due to the faulty casing.
Buy it at your own risk. Toshiba is notorious for their terrible customer service. I'd buy this just for parts, really.
