5 out of 5 eggsLove it.

Pros: Good all around

Cons: Low ram but easy fix.

Other Thoughts: Reviewing this laptop as a resource for others searching for problems. I've been using it for almost a year.

The laptop does over heat. you need to open it up and remove the dust from the fan every 6 months. It's easier to do on this laptop compared to others.

It has a 4gb ram stick, with an open slot for another, easily upgraded to 8gb of ram.

I have unresolved issues with usb ports, sometimes the usb 3.0 ports don't charge devices even though they are powered. However the USB 2.0 port is fine.

I does have the power to play blu-rays with an external blu-ray player. I've also ran 3 1080p youtube vids all at the same time.

5 out of 5 eggsNice for the money

Pros: dedicated video card, runs Skyrim on high settings without slowing down. No heat issues encountered. The display is sharp and the HDMI port is nice,

Cons: Keyboard action is mushy, resolved that by attaching a USB keyboard.

Other Thoughts: for the price this is a very nice laptop and will run most games and productivity software.

4 out of 5 eggsNearly Amazing

Pros: Can play a lot of games with very little lag, while running antivirus programs in the background, powerful, fast. I've been able to run Skyrim, Dragon Age 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Splinter Cell Conviction, Minecraft, and Batman Arkham City all with very VERY little lag, and my anti virus programming running in the background. (the little lag I did experience was usually when my anti virus was scanning, but even then it was very much unnoticeable.

Cons: OVERHEATS!!! Unless you have a cooling method seriously take this into consideration! I used it for an hour before the temp shot up to 200 degrees (Fahrenheit) and it shut down to prevent damage. battery life isn't superb, but I usually use it at home so no big deal, the track pad is really annoying at times, the multi touch feature could definitely use some looking at. the track pad buttons feel a little looser then the should be. and the disc try is really not very pleasant, but I just download all my things, I don't the disk drive really.

Other Thoughts: Over all I can say I'm very much satisfied with the buy. If i could redo I think I might've gone for a larger screen and i7 processor, but everything else is more than easy to look over. Even my con's are more nit-picking then anything else. Except for the over heating, that's a serious problem. I'm looking into buying a cooling pad for my laptop, as yesterday while playing Skyrim it just randomly shut down, turns out my overheat protection program shut it down because it was reaching unsafe operating conditions. The laptop is fairly light weight, (definitely compared to my 7 year old laptop) and is highly productive. If buying from Newegg, also be sure to note that a recovery disk is not included, however i just bought a $15 USB with the $100 I saved from buying from Newegg instead of Toshiba.

I've had this computer for nearly 2 months now, and the only sign of wear on it is some smudges where my hand rests, and the stickers are starting to peel. Seems like a sturdy piece of machine, and can handle most of the older games, and some of the new upcoming one, (checked the stats, it can handle Assassins creed 3).

After buying this my xbox is sad that I don't use it anymore, well, I've discovered the joys of PC gaming.

3 out of 5 eggsGood but overheats

Pros: Works well for most applications. It is able to run games for a while (see cons). The RAM only takes up one slot so it is an easy upgrade if you want to. The laptop has good performance It does what you would expect for the cost.

Cons: The computer will overheat when playing games, even older games like the original Mass Effect. This will happen usually 10 or so minutes into a game unless I take a break. I'm rather disappointed with that. There is the typical bloatware but it is not too bad and is easily removed.

Other Thoughts: A bit disappointed with the overheating issues but as a whole performs as expected for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop; Better Price

Pros: Dedicated graphics (the best card you'll find in this price range), fast processor, large HD. USB 3.0 ports are great.

Cons: Hinges for screen seem a little loose (when the laptop is closed it doesn't seem fastened like other laptops do.) That's the only con I can think of for now.

Other Thoughts: I didn't get it for just gaming by any means, but it plays games well. The trackpad rocks and fully supports all of Windows 8 trackpad features. This was by far the best deal I found on a laptop of this caliber!

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent middle of the road laptop!

Pros: At $679 you really can't go wrong with this laptop.

It will play battlefield 3 on low settings. I changed the settings to custom and set everything on the lowest choice except textures (HIGH). I had done some reading and had been concerned about 64 player matches regarding framerate drop. I experienced no such thing and played through flawlessly.

Just to note, while this is a dual core i5; it has hyperthreading so you will see four cores in windows.

I am on the way to test more games but a good rule of thumb is, if it can play battlefield 3 it should be able to handle every other game on low at the very least.

Again at this price you will beat an Amd A10 or A8 in processing and the graphics side. I would suggest the ati card on this laptop over the 630m as well. The 630m couldn't quite keep up across the board.

Decent size hard disk for the money.

Cons: At the price I really can't complain but there are some things missing that you might have to sacrifice if you're planning to have the bottom line mobile graphics card to play everything out there.

This laptop does not have bluetooth.

It does not have a blu-ray player nor is there a close enough model that has one at this price that will give you unquestionable battlefield 3 playability. (My argument against the Tosiba laptop loaded with blu-ray, bluetooth, and the A10 cpu).

A relatively low amount of Ram compared to other laptops in this range. I dont know why they skimped out on the extra 2 gigs especially being a moderate gaming machine.

As usual it is loaded with bloatware.

Other Thoughts: I will confess this laptop needed a few upgrades I personally could not live without.

I upgraded to a Crucial M4 SSD and did a fresh install (opposed to an HD clone). $119

If you decide to do this as an upgrade I suggest starting up the laptop first before doing any changes or upgrades. Once windows is setup save the drivers and drivers store in System32 to a thumb drive. Once that is done you can then do the swap. After installing windows go to the Device Manager, do a driver update for any unrecognized devices and browse to the drive letter for the search. That will cover just about all of them but you will need the display driver download from the Toshiba site in order to get the Catalyst Control Center (CCC).

I also got a set of dual channel Crucial ram. (8GB DDR3 1333 CL9) $43

For a total of $844 (I bought the SSD with the transfer kit incase the windows install failed and needed to clone otherwise subtract $10)

Still at $679 its a great deal minus the upgrade
