4 out of 5 eggsHard drive crapped out

Pros: It works for what I need it to do - light gaming (Civ IV), hd videos, web browsing, etc. and really performed well after boosting the RAM to 4gb.

Cons: The Hitachi hard drive that came with the machine has 50 or 60 bad sectors leading to BSODs and memory errors. Such is life. $50 for a new hard drive (with a five year warranty) and I still spent less than I would've on its closest competitor.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent, when it worked

Pros: Decently priced. Relatively thin. Able to do light gaming (think WoW, native res, low settings with good textures gets 30+fps in Stormwind). Handles HD video with ease. Much more fluid with a RAM upgrade. Excellent keyboard and touchpad. Managed to get a hair over 3 hours on battery watching HD video from the drive.

Cons: LCD spazzed out after a few months, big black vertical lines across half the screen. Acer wouldn't cover it, so had to replace out of pocket. After a year now, all but 1 USB port works. Of course, out of warranty so cest la vie... thankfully, there's USB hubs...

Other Thoughts: Though now deactivated, if you happen across a similarly spec model, you'll definitely want to upgrade the RAM to 4GB. Very much worth it. The RAM is easy enough to get to, and is inexpensive on Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent laptop

Pros: AMD Fusion APU, CPU(1.6 Ghz) and GPU(6310 DX 11)on one die.

It doesn't get hot.

Way faster than an atom. I've seen people play BF: BC2 and other games (of course at lowest possible settings).

Was the cheapest of its category when I bought it($350)
Because it was cheap I was able to buy an SSD and boost the performance of the laptop. With an OCZ Agility 3 don't expect to hit 550 MB/s with ATTO benchmark. Realistic values are about in between 100 and 190 MB/s (HD Tune benchmark no compression, more like real life situation).

Cons: Item is deactivated.
It has a mono speaker. If you wanna hear both of the channels through the mono speaker you have to use a program with (audio) custom channel mapping capability and enable to clone the right speaker on the left one. I am using K-Lite media player classic and it works fine. But when it comes to watching flash videos like youtube etc, that'll most likely fail. There are solutions to that like using some software to download videos off youtube and watch them on Media player, but it's a hustle and speaker weak for that hustle anyway. Bottom line, the speaker was intended to give you sound when you need it. I always carry earbuds in my case.

Other Thoughts: The item is deactivated when I'm writing this comment.
Instead of buying the ~$500 competitors I bought this laptop and it let me buy an SSD with the money I had. That was an incredible boost in speed.

There were some problems when the laptop came out that were related to AMD, with very frequent firmware updates now all the issues I've had are gone. People with screen brightness, and BSOD issues with SSDs should update their SSDs as well as their laptops firmware.

2 out of 5 eggsSpeakers

Pros: Forgot to include in my last review...

Cons: Internal Speakers Are Horrible! Horrible sound quality. Horrible volume control. Volume doesn't go loader than a faint whisper. Not good for watching movies, listening to music, or playing video games (audio)

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Deal

Pros: Labtop is not that bad, really light weight, awesome spec's for the price i got it for, decent hard drive, great battery life all in all a good deal

Cons: Filled with bloatware causing slow proformace. this labtob can definatly go without the OEM bloatwere that comes preinstalled. it is lagging right out the box. best bet is to reformat right out the box with a retail copy

2 out of 5 eggsGood Product but Cheap Construction

Pros: Runs cool, great video processing including running online games like MineCraft. HD out is a nice touch. Runs quick after deleting bloatware.

Cons: Cheap plastic and screen. Computer screen showed crack after a few weeks of use. Bloatware.

Other Thoughts: So here is the deal. Bought this computer for my kid's B-Day and after a few weeks of use, the screen formed a crack. Obviously he was upset but I grilled him whether he dropped it or not. I inspected it and sure enough it still looked brand new with no plastic chips or scratches from being dropped. I therefore received an RMA number from NewEgg and sent it in for exchange. Unfortunately they declined the exchange with this response, "The Notebook screen is cracked. There are not signs of damage to the retail box or the packing material. The notebook has been used and has been setup with a windows login already. Physical damage voids the item's warranty as well as Newegg's Return Policy. RMA Denied, Return to customer." Arg. They suggested I send it in to Acer for repair. I wonder if they declined the exchange since it is sold out online. The crack comes from below the plastic bezel so not sure how this can be damaged from my son. Will send it in for repair and update the review later.

5 out of 5 eggsBest labtop for 400$ or less

Pros: Wow and Wow again this thing plays all the casual games you would want it to

i can play AGE 3 with max resolution and high shaders and it looks great and plays great somtimes goes down to 18-24fps on heavy battles put usally plays at 45+fps
plays sims 2 and simcity 4, halo perfect. always around 30fps+
this can play 2 DVD's and also do a 1 hour of halo on one charge
Screen looks great
does all normal stuff very fast like web, music, pictures
streams 1080P to my ACER 32inch HD tv and works great doing so
Runs cool most of the time can get a little warm but its fine
cheapest E-350 laptop machine i could find.
This is a better deal for the average person then a Pentium or atom PC.
If you do anything visual such as videos or web or casting ot gaming get this, if you want to compress files all day then by all means get the Pentium machine:)

Cons: Why would someone spend 100$ more then this to get something without a dvd drive and a smaller screen cough H$P

Other Thoughts: i did put 2 more GB's of ram cost me 22$ on newegg and it made the labtop much faster.

Pros: Super fast system, great laptop for me. Windows 7 start fast and have any necessary for install Office. Can run games, at low level but playable.

Cons: None so far.... AMD has great products

Other Thoughts: All laptops have 5400rpm hard drives, this impact performance :)
