5 out of 5 eggsGood netbook for the $

Pros: It's cheap and has good performance for the price. I loaded Ubuntu on it and everything works well - from video card to wireless card. It looks good sitting on top of my robotic platform.

Cons: If you're putting Ubuntu (I don't know about other distros) on it you have to configure it to attempt network boot first, then your actual boot device otherwise you get all sorts of instability. Would be nice if the wireless card supported 5ghz N.

Other Thoughts: If I was actually using this as a netbook I would definitely want more memory but that's easy to fix.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing for a netbook (once upgraded)

Pros: Netbook is super light and as far as base hardware goes its nominal. Ran minecraft and a few basic applications out of the box. Runs excellently after a ram upgrade to 4gb and a fresh new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Moderate to low end gaming is possible after the ram and OS upgrade!

Cons: 1gb of ram is just not enough on windows 7, at times I wanted to toss this thing in the box for a return due to its horrible speed. The bloatware that comes pre-installed and not to mention Windows 7 Stater was a huge turn-off but that was solved with a new copy of Windows 7 x64. and a ram upgrade

Other Thoughts: Buy this laptop with a stick of 4gb ram or 2gb from day one. and install it before you boot it up the first time. Will make things alot easier and more pleasureful from day 1.

5 out of 5 eggsnice netbook

Pros: the hardware it self is good. out of the box this netbook is junk but with a few minor upgrades and some know how its good.

Cons: OS installed , minor issue with nic and wifi if you have both enabled at once you get shuttering the devices seem to conflict.

Other Thoughts: when i took mine out of the box first thing i did was pop the keyboard off take out the 4 screws and pop the bottom off and upgraded to 4gigs of ram. the next thing i did was hijack the recovery system using windows self recovery i was able to access the recovery drive wipe it and drop win7 ultimate 64bit in its place. at this point i loaded up ubuntu on a live pen drive and resized the recovery partition to fit just the win7 install and removed the other partitions. after doing this while the system boots up you hold down alt + f10 to access the recovery system and sence i replaced the recovery system with win7 64bit it just loaded up the win7 64 bit installer and i installed windows normaly. now that windows is installed i need to track down drivers the wifi/ lan/card reader drivers from acer worked well but the video card drivers did not spending some time playing with drivers i find that the embeded driver package works from amd directly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: This netbook is great for your light computing needs. Very light and thin, with a great battery life.

Cons: The 1 gig of ram is lacking, and it truly puts a hamper on the capabilities of the netbook.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended to upgrade to a 2 gig stick of ram.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Excellent HDMI. Just used on my 40" LCD and it will go 1080p output. Watched GI Joe on Netflix and the video quality was way great, I didn't expect the APU to be this good!

Cons: The CPU does bottleneck, like others have said...UPGRADE Ram and OS.

Other Thoughts: I just purchased OCZ 120gb SSD (sata III) on Newegg for $139. I have other SSD's in my PC's and it vastly improves the CPU and RAM performance because of the data access time. Make sure you set the BIOS to boot from USB prior to uninstalling the original HD, you will need and external DVD player to install Windows 7 OEM.

4 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: 1080p video decoding
~6 hour battery life
mostly cool
good display

Cons: 1 GB of RAM is stretching it, it's actually 746 MB
the installed graphics drivers are extremely unstable
in fact, the default software configuration is just plain bad
the area under Q on the keyboard can become warm
the speakers are really quite bad
low-end webcam

Other Thoughts: The GPU is enough for Source games on medium at the native resolution.

In general, any slowness I see is due to RAM usage. The CPU itself seems adequate for everything.

I'm a college student, this is portable, and lasts all day (and more). I'm very happy with it.

As a final thought, though, I do wish it had more RAM, but I get by.

5 out of 5 eggsIt can easily handle bly-ray on 1080p resolution

Pros: Dual display via d-sub/HDMI
smooth Blu-ray playback (thanks to built-in UVD in APU)
cool and quiet
Radeon graphics

Cons: CPU

Other Thoughts: For fun I decided to play a blu-ray movie on a second display at 1080p. This little netbook performed flawlessly (thanks to the embedded UVD in the C-50 core), no skipping during playback. The only thing that took a while was to start the playback software (CPU).

Once playback began CPU usage maxed at a mere 25%, averaging 9%. CPU maxed at 15% averaging 7%. I ran AMD's System Monitor during the test.

ALL AMD APU's feature this built-in UVD. So ALL Fusion-based netbooks will handle blu-ray.

If you want a multimedia-centric netbook with some good grapics performance then this machine is the way to go.

2 out of 5 eggsVery slow

Pros: It has HDMI. That's the only good thing I see in it!

Cons: This netbook is the slowest netbook I've ever used.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Netbook

Pros: 1280 x 720 screen and wide viewing angle. Hugely better than the 1024 x 600 screens I see.
Lots of ports and the web-cam is good enough.
Very compact, light, and thin (even for 10" netbook).
6 hour battery life seems low or average in this class, but 3x better than my other notebooks.
Multi-gesture Touchpad is surprising good - not too sensitive.
Very travel friendly netbook that also out performs my 5 year old 14" notebook.
Good look and feel - maybe a little cheap, but not disapointing.
Runs "snappy", even for a 1Ghz APU. More so after cleaning the OS and upgrading RAM.

Cons: Speakers are weak, but fixed with earphones.
Difficult to upgrade the RAM & hard drive.(not suggested for everyone)
Win 7 Starter, but I never planned on using this anyway.
No bluetooth, but for ~$300 - can't expect too much.

Other Thoughts: I'm working overseas and my brother was able to help me buy this. The best and only 10" C-50 I found.
Blows away the Atom, especially in games, graphics, and video.
Installed 4 gigs RAM, Win 7 64bit, and 1TB HD.
I can use this for real work if necessary. Runs nearly all Windows software without upgrading the OS (Photoshop, Visual Studio, SQL Server, etc)
Runs nearly all games in low-mid settings except for Crysis 1&2 , Farcry2, Metro 2033, etc. Better suited for real time strategy & turn based (long airplane flights) or old games because of the small screen and 1 Ghz APU.
It's easy to find URLs to help upgrade the RAM since it's not as simple as unscrewing the bottom.
