5 out of 5 eggsAcer TimelineX

Pros: Nice Display
Great Keyboard
Surprisingly good start up time for Windows 7
Excellent Sound Quality
Great battery life

Cons: Mouse pad is weird, kind of sticky

Other Thoughts: I have only owned one previous laptop in my life and it is an Acer Aspire 5100 (A.K.A - a piece of junk). That computer was ridiculous. I have owned it for four years. When I allowed my father to buy me this laptop, I didn't know a lot about the specs. I was just happy to have gotten my first laptop. After a while, I got into technology and realized that the laptop wasn't worth it and that my dad bought it because it was cheap.

I decided to buy a new affordable laptop, so I chose this laptop. Wasn't sure if I could trust Acer, but I haven't regretted my decision. Sure wished I had this laptop four years ago. It looks great. I was taken aback by how wide the screen was, but I got use to it. The blue color is phenomenal and the thinness is mind blowing. This machine is like nothing I have owned before. For now, everything works great.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality laptop, reasonable price

Pros: The processor is fast, and the laptop runs cool and quiet. Plenty of ram, especially with Windows 7. The audio is surprisingly good for laptop speakers. It has everything a mid-grade laptop should have. Blu-ray is overrated because a PC gives you access to HD files anyway. HDMI out and USB 3.0 are also a plus. The touchpad gestures are spiffy, and I really like the full keyboard.

Cons: Acer's bloatware had to be removed, but this is typical with most brands. I'm still on the fence about using, because WMP12 media sharing seems to work better. When I tried streaming some HD videos it crashes the app. I was expecting better contrast from the screen. Off angle viewing makes the darker colors look strange (this is typical for laptop screens but nonetheless slightly disappointing).

Other Thoughts: I'd like to have given this 4.5 eggs, but that wasn't a choice. Overall this is a great laptop for the price. I believe it retails in Europe for over $1100 ($800 Euro) and seems to be in short supply in the US, so if you can snag one go for it. This is the best bang for the buck if size and battery life are important factors for you, as well as replacement to an above average desktop PC. If you're a serious gamer, get a desktop! This may play games, but laptops are tools not toys.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty and Powerful

Pros: Very slim/Very light
Fast i5 processor
Its pretty (its a big deal to me)
6gb RAM (Recommend upgrading to 8, I havent yet though)
1gb dedicated graphics card (League of Legends on high with 40 frames, Starcraft 2 on med/high with 60 frames)
Moderately good gaming laptop
Lights are quite subtle
Great battery life (I get 9 hours easy on a full charge)
Comes with Nvidia Optimus
Comes with a full numpad (not really a big deal for me, but its nice to have)
Runs very cool unless playing games intensely
Surprisingly good speakers, though a little soft/small

Cons: The touch pad is a tad sticky (though some use will help with that)
The up/down/left/right arrow keys are a tad small for my taste (see the pictures)
The disk drive is a tad hard to open when the charger is plugged in. They get in the way of each other.
Comes with a bit of bloatware, but a lot less than my experience with other laptops. A clean OS install will take care of that. Otherwise, getting rid of them manually is quick to do.

Other Thoughts: The keys are more like a mac's keys, which may be a pro or a con. I personally like it, it makes it difficult for dust to get attracted to it.
The three USB 2.0s are exclusively on the right side while the USB 3.0 is on the left. I have no problems with this but if for any reason you want your USB 3.0 on your right, then this laptop doesnt help with that. For those of you who only use USB 2.0s, 3.0 ports are backwards compatible.
The gaming ability on this laptop is pretty good for casual gaming. I play Starcraft 2 on medium shaders and high effects at a comfortable 60 frames. I havent tried other games yet though. Optimus was seamless at switching between video cards and there are settings to change if you wish to tinker.

Last thoughts:
This computer is pretty darn fast and pretty smooth. The windows experience index came up with these results

Gaming Graphics:6.4
Primary Hard Disk:5.9

Hope this helps!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Love the wide screen and the full sized keyboard. The nvidia graphics is amazing. Very thin and light, great to take everywhere. I have actually gotten 8hrs of battery life out of it on an international flight. I've run everything from adobe suite to video games flawlessly.

Cons: As great as it is having a big hardrive the 5400 rpm can be slow at booting up. The nvidia graphics card doesn't work with all outputs and it's sometimes hard to get the computer to use the nvidia card Instead of the onboard graphics

Other Thoughts: None

1 out of 5 eggsLooks Good

Pros: Looks Great!

Cons: Received today and ran for 4 hours seemed to be a nice computer. Got rid of existing Internet security and loaded better one. Did full virus scan for the heck of it. Registered Windows, Ran updates and loaded 1 game and the computer shut down on its own and will not reboot. Tried to reset battery, nothing happens. Will have to return. Very disappointed.

Other Thoughts: I hope I don't get another dud!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Quality

Pros: -Great sound
-Great for viewing videos
-Graphics are good. Not the best but are worth the price.
-Battery life is long

Cons: -Some glitches such as mouse not moving while typing, but is fixable.

Other Thoughts: Great laptop. Great for people who are into home theater.
Keyboard may need some getting used to as it is the same as a mac computer.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Ultra-slim laptop. Plenty of HDD space and RAM. Darn good CPU!

Cons: 6gb of RAM sounds just funny. 8GB would of made it sweeter.
