4 out of 5 eggsAwesome unit

Pros: Awesome unit. I went from a tablet to a netbook to this unit. I needed a lightweight internet browsing device to use for personal and work usage such a paying bills, internet research and tech support for customers. But I didnt want to carry a brick around in my backpack that I carry everywhere. This was the best choice. Tablets dont have enough storage and the netbooks are too weak for any real work.

Cons: The only issue is that this was an entry level netbook and uses a standard drive versus ssd and it doesnt support usb 3.0, which would be handy for the next portable drive i purchase. But otherwise I should be able to get at least 2 to 3 years use out of it. Battery life on these things are only as capable as they say if you put it on the weakest settings then you will get the most out of the battery.

Other Thoughts: The price is high on these-being this is the most the that I have paid for a laptop. But is well worth it.

1 out of 5 eggsfirst review deleted by newegg

Pros: small, lightweight, fast for general purposes

Cons: Will not run graphic intensive programs without getting VERY hot. Computer is not near as good as the reviews make it out to be.

Other Thoughts: This is the first purchase I've ever had with newegg that made me regret buying from newegg. They were completely uncooperative and only dictated policy to me. I wanted to return this laptop within the return period but instead I listened to the customer service rep that asked I return it for testing as it might just be a bad unit. They sent it back after doing a factory reset on it and said it was fine. It was not, so I called back the day after getting it back. Oh we are sorry you are beyond your return period, contact the manufacturer. Such poor service on this transaction.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!!!

Pros: Great sleek design, brushed aluminum top cover, kind-of matching inside, HDMI, 2x USB 2.0, Good Price (Got mine from Tiger Direct, I think they have the updated models), Average Resolution, what else can i say. I haven't come across any problems yet. It even fell and it still works. (Don't attempt to try this), so I opened up to make sure everything was in-tact and sure enough, IT WAS. I came across the components and its really easy to replace.

Cons: My only complaint is the battery life and the 320 hdd. First off to even compete (NOW AT 900?!?!). Listen up everyone go to Comp usa or Tigerdirct and get one at the same price WITH A 240 GB ssd. Newegg should do the same thing! Heads up here.

Other Thoughts: Great product, newegg messed up, not pricewise, but specwise, other than that prices are the same so idk wat is going on.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome ultrabook

Pros: lightweight, sleek, webcam works good, did i mention sleek? This thing is great looking and performance wise its what you would expect and everyone says. fast startup, does everything a ultrabook needs to do very well. i bought this because i already have a beastly desktop and needed something portable and this thing is awesome. why pay extra for a macbook air when to get anything even similar in performance would cost like $1200-1300?

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought mine refurbished and it looked and acted new. Steal to get one of these for $550 :)

5 out of 5 eggsVery impressive

Pros: Battery Life - with the lowest screen brightness and normal usage with Wifi you can easily squeeze out 4.5 hours.

Touch Pad - this is the first windows touch pad that does a good job with two finger scrolling and two finger right click

Aesthetics - This ultrabook looks and feels great. It is the perfect size and has a simple yet appealing metalic color scheme. The screen hinge is also solid and smooth.

Wake up time - This is where you will notice the speed of the small solid state drive on the machine, it wakes up in under 2 seconds, making it great to carry between classes and meetings, no more walking around with the lid open to keep it from sleeping.

Cons: The solid state is great for sleeping and waking up, but it would have been nice to have the entire operating system on a solid state drive to improve the overall performance. I don't feel that the machine is slow by any means, but it would be much faster if the entire hard drive was solid state.

Other Thoughts: I have also done fairly extensive testing with the machine in Ubuntu and Fedora, they both work fine, but you have to do some tweaking to get fan speed control and brightness settings to work. Also, I have found that the multi-touch works a lot better on newer kernels (3.2+). Ubuntu 12.04 and Fedora 17 both use the newer kernels and they make the touch pad much easier to work with.

5 out of 5 eggsFive Star PC!

Pros: Very slim, very fast and a bigger screen than anticipated. Time to boot is next to nothing, time from pushing the power button to desktop is probably 20 seconds at most. Keyboard is pretty spacious, alot more than my old laptop. Surround sound is awesome, even with the speakers on the bottom. Also, the power cord and all connections (except the headphones) are on the back. In all, awesome computer, very powerful and very fast.

Cons: A little heavier than anticipated, but not bad at all. Probably average laptop weight.

Other Thoughts: Great alternative to Macbook Air, especially if you're more familiar with windows than mac.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent laptop

Pros: Excellent laptop, fast annd reliable. Beautiful looking, thin and powerful.
I intalled Ubuntu 11.10 64 bits Linux, everything works right after installation.
Windows 7 also works fine. No crash after usinng it for weeks.
Not all laptop are the same, but Acer products are so good.

Cons: 2-finger scrolling on touch pad works OK in Windows 7, not in Ubuntu.

Other Thoughts: I am a Mac User, I own iMac, MBP, iPhone, iPad... but this Acer S3 is the first Windows laptop that I eally like. Compare to other brands that I bought ( like Dxxx, Lxxxxx), they all not so reliable. For Windows machine, I seriously will only buy Acer.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Got the ultrbook and really liked it. It runs good and is just what my wife needed. Light and capable. And for the price i think its hard to beat.

Cons: I had some typing mishaps with the keypad(type light ans fast) but my wife who types like she is on a mission with a old typewritter didnt have any trouble.

Other Thoughts: My biggest complaint comes from the shipping. It wasn't neweggs fault but fedex's. I selected over night shipping on a tuesday afternoon and didnt recieve the package till friday around 6. Fedex was notified the same day i ordered so they are just that slow. I live in arkansas and newegg shipped from memphis, TN so there shouldnt be a problem with distance. (4 hours away) Newegg refunded my 32$ for overnighting it and made it right. But i feel newegg should have to pay for fedex's mistake. If i new fedex was doing the shipping i would have changed it, newegg please stop using fedex they are junk for shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for the price!

Pros: - This laptop is very thin and portable
- Fast CPU power
- Looks very slim
- Pretty cheap for an ultrabook
- Battery lasts forever when plugged in
- The mic is sensitive
- Windows 7 built in
- HDMI output
- Decent webcam quality

Cons: - Intel HD 3000 graphics, not the best for gamers
- The sides of the keyboard part are made of plastic
- The aluminum back gets scratched easily
- When the battery dies, it remains dead until you charge it
- No CD rom
- Not USB 3.0
- Keyboard keys are a bit slippery so your fingers can slip sometimes after eating chicken wings.
- Output power on the audio jack is a bit weak, so the treble goes down when the bass goes up.

Other Thoughts: This is really nice, just make sure not to drop it or you will risk breaking it. For games like Just cause 2, or COD, it can run up to 15-19 FPS on low settings.
