5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet for its size and price

Pros: Great size. Great power. Awesome Battery life. Durable. HDMI output. Easy to access SD card slot. Acer ring setup is pretty intelligent though a bit touchy.

Cons: Screen gets kinda hot after a while of using it. Sadly not much acccessories available for it and the charger is not the best quality. After 6 months it seems to be shorting and a new one is almost 80 bucks.

Other Thoughts: Ive had this tablet for over a year now and actually bought it to replace my labtop. with the google drive app as well as a host of Google apps Its done a great job of replacing my laptop. As of late its been mostly used for basic games due to me getting a note 2 and the tablet not having 3g access. Great tablet with awesome battery life, Great screen quality, and very light.

5 out of 5 eggsAs good as Android gets.

Pros: OK this is my second replacement (dropped it, screen smashed) Iconia Tab. My first one was just like this one but the model number was A500.

Let me tell you this is as good as Android gets on a tablet. There is nothing cheap or second rate about this table t whatsoever and this was also true for my original Acer Iconia.

Aesthetically, the design is sleek, modern and sophisticated. The back is a metalic silverish color covered in little pin-sized indentation which enhances its grippability and gives it a modern, engineered cool appearance. That covering wraps all the way around to the the front, which is like most other tablets.

It has rounded corners and says ICONIATAB in the upper right hand corner in a cool silver font. There's not much to say about the physical appearance of the tab itself except that , for me, compare to the Samsung, it looks noticeably less blocky, less square, less chunky. Most of these things end up spending their lives in some sort of protective case, so this all this may not matter to you.

Overall, the engineering tightness here is really first class. The lack of a gap between crucial parts, the attention to detail in the buttons it's all very nice. There's nothing cheap about the build. It's like the tolerances you get in a BMW or something. It screams "we took this seriously"

The interface is just like most other Android interfaces. You can adjust it to suit yourself. Mine runs the latest Android version and it get regularly updated automatically. Nice.

OK so here are the parts that matter.

1) durability. I finally smashed mine when it fell out of the cheap case I bought it and face planted onto the curb. Well, that's how it goes . But even with a smashed screen, this thing kept working wonderfully. I could use it, the touch screen was completely responsive and I had no problems whatsoever. I actually kept it like that for another month before invoking the "you're an idiot" warranty I had purchased when I bought it because I just did NOT want to part with it.

The screen on this one is true HD- 1920x1200. The screen is brilliant, the text is crisp and the graphics are responsive. I can watch youTube videos or whatever with NO problems at all; it's as good as my home desktop screen. The colors are all right on, there's nothing washed out or second rate here.

That's as good as you can do with an android tablet except I think there is one out now for considerably more that matches the iPad's retina display resolution. But when I say considerably more, I mean considerably more.

Which brings me to the price. The price is nice. Especially since you can expand the memory to whatever sized USB chip you care to use. with iPad, that part of it's a racket. They make you pay out the nose and for one with larger memory so buying it becomes an all or nothing affair - you have ONE shot to guess how much memory your future self will need.

Cons: none. whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: The battery life is the other thing that is great about this tablet. Maybe it's true of all tablets but if you have a smart phone you know battery life is an issue and that the batteries degrade over time so that they fail to hold a charge. None of that is an issue with this tablet.

My battery life is just short of 10 hours- always. I can go two or three days- and I use it everyday for a couple hours at least- without having to recharge it. It has a utilityto show you what used your battery and it's always the screen. This thing automatically adjusts screen brightness so if you're outside and it's bright, it goes up so you can read it clearly but if a cloud goes overhead for a minute, it notices that and darkens a little saving battery life. It's awesome like that.

The cameras are also excellent and the photo viewer that comes with ICS is completely acceptable and easy to use.

If you're sitting on the fence as to whether it's worth it to get a tablet or not, I can tell you it's worth it .

I would say it changed my life in terms of reading productivity. I have to learn new stuff all the time and about four or so years back I bought a $400 iTouch just so I could get reading done around town. It was better than nothing but barely useful compared to this, Yet that marginal iTouch experience is where phones are now.

If you read as a part of school or your job, then just buy it. It's so much better than a dedicated e-reader because of it's browser, ability to save webpages, and especially the aftermarket readers available for it. They let you mark up, write notes of any size put them wherever you want as much as you want and just change your text in completely arbitrary ways.

The text itself is huge and brilliant compared to a phone and the battery life is fantastic so you can read forever in all lighting conditions.

The whole reading experience is like +1000. I can just whip this out of my over the shoulder bag, sit outside coffeshops and on a nice day with my doggie and read forever and be doing *real work* without worrying about finding a plug for my laptop or having the battery run out. I was looking for a way to do that before with laptops and iTouchs and phones and I just never found it. It's transformative in this way.

I didn't hesitate to get another Acer Iconia tablet even though I was cut a check by the insurance and could have bought anything. I have two Acer monitors at home and they rock. Acer does things like build quality, pricing and screen technology really really well .

Tablets are the first new thing in a long time. They actually do permit you to do things you couldn't do before. The next step will be LARGER LIGHTER more DURABLE tablets that you can actually perform serious computing on equivalent to a desktop.

5 out of 5 eggsJelly Bean Update! (As a follow up to my Previous review)

Pros: 1, Heat issue gone!. It still gets a little hot, but not as bad as before!, has not shut down or anything like that.

2, FAST!!!. Now i feel like i really got what i paid for!, it's almost like i got a new tablet!, the menus are so fluid even on balance!

3, Screen Response. The screen response increased greatly!, it was set to normal and way better than before. I am going to leave it at normal, as i don't want it to be too sensitive.

Cons: I wonder why acer did not do this earlier! :D (Not really a con)

Other Thoughts: This is NOW definitely the tablet to buy!, what you get after the update is a mind blowing increase in speed!. I still don't like the cam too much, but it not that big of a deal anymore. I was told by two Acer chat rep's that the jelly bean update would be released by december, which really made me angry, but it was released today!, and after a day use, i can say i am really happy with this tablet, and glad that i did not return it back. It is now definitely on par with the Asus tf700!.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Tablet But Sluggish OS Needs Update Fast!!! "Disappointed In Acer"

Pros: 1920x1200 Wonder Res!
Regular mini Usb 2.0
Screen Orientation Lock Button (i like this future :D)
Grippy body (My mom has the asus transformer prime and i prefer holding my acer to hers due to the bulky feel without sharp edges)

Cons: 1, Heat Issue!!!, This did not take out an egg. I have had the tablet shutdown, and Re-boot on me twice due to excess heat! (-__-)

2, Most sluggish tablet i have ever used. This took out an egg, because even after multiple updates, I am very very disappointed in Acer for selling a tablet that is this sluggish for that amount. I wonder if the developers have not used this tablet, and compared it to other 1920x1200 tablets out there. Acer should have thought of this before slapping on a 1920x1200 screen, and calling it the a700.

Finally, The Front Camera! This definitely took out an egg. I am not a fan of taking pictures with a tablet, but the front camera is a must have!, even on mobile phones nowadays. This tablet's front facing camera is even worse than most phone cameras i have seen, like... it is not even worth calling a camera lol. Acer should have taken out the back camera, and put a better front facing camera. My mom's Asus Transformer Prime's front facing camera is 5 times better than this piece of shiid camera acer put on this wonderful tablet!
-__-" (it's almost laughable when you look at the quality build and texture of this pad, then open up the camera. You would be speechless at how potato looking you would be) Not good at all.

Other Thoughts: If you really have the extra money to get something better (Not going to call out names lol), don't buy this tablet! Please! (T_T), I was thinking or returning the tablet back to newegg, but after i saw a video on the jelly bean update on it, and how it fixed a lot of issues with the tablet, (heat, speed "They say it is super fast now", and responsiveness), I decided not to spend more money shipping it back to newegg and wait two months for an update -__-". Knowing fully well that their tablet is very slow on ICS and Very FAST on jelly bean, I expected acer to be the first in line to release the Jelly bean update. But no, it does not work like that with acer. Smh. Very Disappointed... Don't buy if you want a good front facing camera, and you also care about customer service. They aiint gonna give you tha shiid lol #rachet

5 out of 5 eggsgreat tablet

Pros: Nice screen i am not seeing alot of lag shure it gets warm in the back. like the acer ring and other acer software it is a little heavy but some people do not like light and frilley things like the fact that it has a mini sd slot un like others that you have to pay more for the storage.sruf the net quite fast i do not think it is as bad as people make it out to be.

Cons: gets warm in back bottom but it seems that other devices do the same thing

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: High definition screen.

Cons: Software is too buggy. Gets very hot on the back right side of tablet. Tablet's screen would be unresponsive after going to sleep. I would have to hard reboot it.

Other Thoughts: I have owned other android tablets and this is by far the worst Android tablet I have owned. I paid for a high-end device, and this is not one. I would not recommend anyone to buy one.
