5 out of 5 eggsBest of the best

Pros: Nice screen, fast, light, simply works. Windows 8 far better than I anything, cloud works great with home desktop and server, everything windows 8. Glad I selected windows as it integrates with everything else. Windows is the way to go if you own more than one PC and have a network.

Cons: Zero

Other Thoughts: Decided to go with Windows due to the number of PC and Networks. Best of the best, this thing screams and I have all the benefits of Windows. Forget Droid and Apple, coordinate this with your existing PC, you won't look back.

4 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: nice tablet. I am glad I got it.

Cons: on mine the screen will ghost around the edges if you have the same thing on the screen for a while, but does not seem to be permanent.

Other Thoughts: update the wireless drivers asap, it will drive you nuts until you do. over all very happy with the tablet.

3 out of 5 eggsSatisfied overall

Pros: Nice battery life. Solid construction and feel. Appears to be one piece aluminum case. Windows 8 really is made for touch interfaces.

Nice dock-stand and blue-tooth keyboard.

The low power mode is (CPU locked to 770MHz) more than enough CPU power to do most things you'll find yourself doing on a tablet. Email, web browsing, games/metro apps, etc.

The EUFI lets this thing cold boot in under 6 sec. Very nice. I don't even use "sleep" mode with this kind of cold boot speed. Though sleep mode is pretty good on power savings, nothing can beat 0 power use.

Battery life: this is mainly laptop replacement for my wife. She gets all day use out of it, sometimes more than one day. She is mostly surfing, web mail, facebook, and

Cons: 1) There is a slight defect in the touch layer (not the LCD display, the glass over it that you touch) has a bubble below the surface. Can't feel it but, it looks like a small droplet of water or something, but you can't wipe it off as it is in the middle of the glass. Luckily, it is in the corner, so it is not terribly distracting. So far, I haven't RMA'd due to the hassle. Still considering it. Everything else seems very high quality, must have been missed in QA.

2) Don't know if this was Acer's config or Windows 8 default, but the i3 chip in this system is a "u" for ultra low power. This is nice, but *ALL* power presets, even "high performance" and "balanced" in Windows8 had the CPU hard locked to 770MHz. This made some desktop apps that needed the extra cycle to load so slow that they apppeard to "hang". Also, some HD video (like Netflix) got a little jittery. Once I found the issue, I set the lower power preset to the low CPU speed and the others I set to allow the full 1.8GHz speed, when needed.

3) The wireless drivers out of the box were a little flaky. Updated to newer version from Acer's website, seems to have fixed it. Occasionally the wireless would lose it's mind, and need to be "reset." Normally, it was resolved within 10-15 sec, but still annoying when surfing.

4) I.E. 10 metro needs better support for flash games (like facebook games). Can't play words with friends, since the touch "layer" of I.E. 10 interprets the touches as zoom and drag/pan the page instead of grabbing tiles and moving them. Swithcing to desktop mode is a pain, since you lose any session info (have to log in again), but once you're in desktop mode, these games work as expected.

Other Thoughts: This little tablet has plenty of power to do anything a laptop could, and you can still switch back to the low power mode, if you are familiar with windows power profiles/presets. I just wish Acer had done better with the out of the box power profile configs. I suspect it may have been to boost battery life ratings/tests.

I upgraded to Windows pro for Media Center. Media Center is one of the apps that needed more CPU than 770 MHz to start up, and menu nav. This is more an issue with Media Center being xml based: not optimized for low power/CPU speed. But, this i3u has the horsepower, when you unchain it.

I ended up turning off BT since I have only used the BT kb early on when setting up more user accounts, early set up stuff. Saves significant battery. I will probably try to set it so when docked, BT is on, off otherwise.

The Acer ring app is very handy to handle power profile switching/turning on/off BT, and launching non-metro Apps. Wish it was a bit more configurable in terms of what apps I can add to the favorites.

Check out and install a tracking prevention list in I.E. 10 to avoid pop-ups, and most annoying ads. You can get the same list that adblocker add-on for firefox uses.

3 out of 5 eggsMediocre

Pros: Great battery life. Good performance for the weight. Nice display. Fast SSD.

Cons: Windows 8 is not a very intuitive touch interface. Bluetooth is terrible - goes to sleep and doesn't wake up without a lot of monkeying around.

Other Thoughts: Never found a use for the cradle that comes with it. Wish it had an SD or micro-SD card slot, but knew it didn't when I bought it. A 2nd built-in USB port would be nice.

4 out of 5 eggsProblematic

Pros: Excellent display, adequate memory and SSD size, docking station, bluetooth keyboard and leather binder are terrific additions.

Cons: Wi-fi connectivity sucks. I'm 6 feet from the access point and I can only get limited connectivity.

You can't access the machines BIOs without a wired keyboard and you need to access them if you want to boot from an external optical drive.

Other Thoughts: I like the touchability, but I hate the GUI. I believe that I would put Windows 7 on this machine if I could figure out how to do a clean install and could get necessary drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for the buck

Pros: -Has intel HD 4000, unlike the intel atoms
-over $100 cheaper than low voltage i5 version. The only advantage the i5 has is 1 core turbo to 2.5GHz.
-Looks elegant and sturdy

Cons: -64GB SSD, unupgradable
-No SD slot.
though still enough to get all the essentials installed.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it's a good mobile device for work.
As some other reviews pointed out, it may randomly drop wireless every few minutes. But after changing the Receive Buffer to 512 and reintalled the Atheros driver, the wifi is working perfectly (not sure which one actually fixed the problem). Although having the tablet working perfectly straight out of the box would be nice, but i'm glad there's no underlying hardware defects.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Love this PC tablet. It is amazing. Well worth the 799.00 (went on sale after Christmas). I watch movies on it and play my facebook games. I also use it for work and the battery life is great for what I need. I would purchase this device again. I have recommended this device to other and they have made the purchase and love it.

Cons: Drops Wi-Fi sometimes, but this isn't a major concern for me. It doesn't drop when I am well within range.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this device to everyone especially a college student who needs a PC in class without the weight of a laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat hardware rendered useless by the operating system

Pros: This is a great piece of hardware. The battery life is amazing when you consider that this is no wimpy ARM processor. I just wish I could use it for more that 5 minutes in a row without getting a BSOD.

Cons: The OS is an unmitigated disaster. It crashes every five minutes. When it doesn't, it drops WiFi connections out of the blue. Bluetooth file transfers *always* fail. External USB mass storage devices remain visible in Windows Explorer after I eject them. I could go on and on, but basically, anything that could go wrong, does. I cannot do anything with it except read email and even that is not 100% reliable because of the WiFi issue.
