4 out of 5 eggsGood Machine

Pros: Decent battery life (exceeds 4 hours)
11.6 Screen size
Windows 7!
Charging transformer and cable is much more transportable in my travel bag.
Light and easy to travel with

Cons: Space bar, but I have the same problem with my old netbook and my laptop. You have to hit them dead center firmly
For some reason this netbook and my older Acer netbook often returns to the desktop for a few seconds when the screen is updating. Annoying.
I thought the upgrade from the NEO 125 processor w 2GB on my older Acer to a Pentium I3 with 4 GB on this one would show a big increase in speed. It is faster, but not to the extent I expected.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to have a convenient lightweight travel PC with decent battery life. If that is what you need, then I highly recommend this unit. I use it mainly for email, banking, news and offloading photos from my cameras for backup.. (A nice tablet might suffice also for most of what I do.) If you are looking for something to play games on, Or area power user then you probably need something more potent (and expensive). The only reason I did not give it 5 eggs was because of the space bar issue and the screen returning to desktop. Four and a half eggs would be my rating . I like it

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice Win7 small laptop

Pros: Nice machine. Fast low TDP CPU, HD 4000 graphics. Brilliant matt finish 720p screen. Nice, if tiny, stereo speakers. Wonderful Wi-Fi. Nice track-pad.

Keyboard is surprisingly nice, except that the space bar needs a firm hit.

With free shipping, received on Wednesday when ordered on the weekend.

Cons: Bloatware, of course. No installation discs. Both of these will waste a lot of your time.

Precious little documentation about the Windows 8 Pro vs Windows 7 Pro recovery. Universal User Guide does not mention the downgrade, which this is.

Acer pulled this product from it's site ~Oct 1. I assume it's discontinued. Too bad, nice product.

Delta model "ADP-40TH A" 40W Power Supply is an ugly universal wall-wart with a locking US adapter. I would prefer a brick with a cord.

The Hitachi 500GB 5400 rpm HDD is partitioned into two user halves, C and
D. D is empty.

Other Thoughts: The older user needed a small Windows 7 laptop to eliminate the learning curve. This machine was manufactured in November 2012.

The included battery is a six-cell version that has plenty of reserve power at 5000 mAhr, but sticks out of the bottom, lifting the back end up on the battery's own rubber feet. I like it, and a compact three-cell is available.

The BIOS v2.06 is not listed at Acer. The BIOS has UEFI option, but is set to "legacy" boot for Win7.

The RAM is a 4GB DDR3 1600 cas 11 1.5v SO-DIMM, operating in single channel. The second slot is empty.

I like this machine quite a bit. The user is going to love it.

All from the Egg.
