2 out of 5 eggsThe unusable

Pros: Touch screen

Track pad
The magical disappearing mouse pointer!

Other Thoughts: I hate this computer with the passion of a thousand suns.

The wifi is unreliable, it overheats due to bad fan placement, HDD skips like a stone, spacebar works when it feels like it
and the best part
driver updates don't fix anything. (Like being forced to sleep or restart your PC when your mouse decides to DISAPPEAR like magic and not return unless you do the above method)

Now running windows 8.1 and I'd rather have put my hand in a blender, now the wifi will just kick you off for no reason when it works on every other PC in the house. (It appears restarting several times fixes that temporarily...if you call that a fix)

I'm beyond frustrated and irritated, I'm mad. For how much this costs I'm shocked at how it DOESNT run. Outa the box it wasn't too bad, ran well for about 3 months then all this started. Yes, I contacted Acer, they are useless and don't even know what to do. (This is evident in their forums alone)

I think I found a good use for this computer...a Frisbee!

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the price

Pros: This laptop is pretty solid. Quick enough for what I need it for which is mostly school work and light time-killing games. I was able, through turning off Fast Boot in the BIOS, to get Linux Mint 15 installed and running perfectly on this machine. The touch screen works in LM15 as well (not really sure about the multi-point aspect as I've not tried to use it for anything). Also, running Linux means I don't have to deal with the wifi issues that other users have been having.

Cons: Battery life is mediocre at best but what do you expect from an i5 with only a 4 cell battery? I can get about 4.5 hours if I set the brightness on the screen down.

Other Thoughts: That's really it. My only other gripe is that it would be nice to have had a 24G SSD to boot the OS with. It still boots pretty quick, even for a 5400 rpm HDD, but not in less than 10 seconds.

Another user had mentioned that this laptop does not have an Ethernet port. While it does not have one built into the machine, it does come with a connector to add the Ethernet port as well as a VGA-out. I don't know if they didn't open everything in the box or what.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quick, boots up fast, never has frozen, plenty of screen real estate.

Cons: Wi-fi driver is flaky at best, and to make things worse, there's no ethernet port! I didn't look at the specs closely enough, that's my fault, but since there's no ethernet port and the wifi only works 70% of the time, that just doesn't cut it. When the wifi goes down it seems as if the whole system is moving through molasses

Other Thoughts: I'm not gaming on this machine, just trying to use it for college assignments, etc. and since there's no ethernet, connecting to a printer is a chore since nothing on my campus uses wifi printing, only through the ethernet connections.

5 out of 5 eggsSweeet

Pros: Durable, big mouse pad, backlight keyboard, it is a touchscreen, and the display is amazing.

Would Rank it 4.5 because of Wifi

Cons: Wifi drivers have to be updated (After that it works like a charm.)

Other Thoughts: Wish it had a little pen, but that's just nit picking.

4 out of 5 eggsWiFi fix

Pros: Gaming is do-able. Had no problems with WoW when I set resolution/details to minimum (30-100 fps). I know, not ideal, but it works.

Optical drive.

Cons: WIFI - If you're having WIFI issues (like the other Reviewer "Fran"), you need to update the WIFI driver to at least v10.0.0.225 which posted 3/2013. This model ships with the November 2012 driver. This notebook will drive you crazy unless you up that driver.

Windows 8.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: If the internet is connected this computer runs very well, nice and fast for average at home use.

Cons: The wifi constantly drops. While researching a bonafide fix the wifi dropped and I had to reset the network adapter seven times. I've only had this computer for three days. Still haven't found a fix that works, most likely will return.

Other Thoughts: The wifi issue is apparently widespread in these Asus laptops, and I still have not found a fix.
