5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for gaming

Pros: I bought this to replace my previous laptop (also a Toshiba) that finally stopped working after 7 years of heavy use. Things I like about this model are:
- Good performance
- Lightweight
- Large screen
- Good battery life
- Decent keyboard response
- Runs relatively cool, even while gaming

Cons: The main drawbacks I've found are:
- Windows 8. (I've since upgraded to 8.1, but I still dislike this OS version)
- No touch screen (Having this might have made the default Win8 install more tolerable)
- Touchpad sometimes stops working (suspect this might be related to ESD)
- Wish the power cable plugged into the back instead of the side. With the current position, this leads to situations where it can easily strike an arm rest, possibly dislodging cord or breaking the connector.

Other Thoughts: This laptop offers good performance for a relatively low price.

3 out of 5 eggsToshiba L875 Laaptop

Pros: Works reasonably well and performs as expected except for the wireless connection. But because of the way it and other companies laptops are advertised as being wireless N ready I would advise everyone to check and see what wireless N compatible really means. Look at the comment below.

Cons: I was extremely disappointed to find out that wireless bgn not mean that you can connect to w wireless N 5gz router, you can only connect to a 2.4gz router. Wireless N means to most people that you can connect to a 5gz router. After 3 calls to Toshiba and a lot of time I was basically told that my wirless N router from Asus a addition$160 was a wasted investment. If you want to connect to a 5gz router your adapter must be AGN not BGN. This should be made clear in the specs somewhere. This is my first bad review of a Newegg product and I have bought a lot of them.

Other Thoughts: There should be somewhere a place that tells the difference in what to look for in a wireless adapter if you would like to connect to a 5gz router and take advantage of the additional download speed. I have learned a valuable lesson in how wireless products are advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Laptop

Pros: The I5-3230M is a very powerful processor and the dedicated HD7670M is more than adequate for mid-range gaming.

Cons: The initial 4GB of RAM is a little low, but I knew that going in.

Other Thoughts: Like many I wasn't pleased with the new Metro desktop and missing start button of Win 8. I found a few enhancements to remedy that.

Bypass Modern UI- This replaces the Metro Start screen with a Win XP/7 era desktop.
Classic Shell- This adds the start button back to the desktop.

5 out of 5 eggsAll around gret computer

Pros: great computer, very fast, stable, didn't come with a lot of bloatware. Wifi holds a great and fast connection. decent amount of hard drive space for my application. I would recommend this computer to ANYONE looking for a great laptop.

Cons: only comes with 4gb of RAM, which isn't bad but with Windows 8, it takes a lot just to run the OS. I spent the extra $99 for upgrade to 16gb of RAM.... RUNS GREAT NOW!

Other Thoughts: A+++

4 out of 5 eggsAn overall good laptop

Pros: Really nice screen size. 1600x900 at 17.3" Inches. No dead pixels for me. very bright screen.

I don't know about others but i like the updated keyboard layout to match Windows 8. The Characters are bigger and they changed the windows key to match the windows 8 logo. They swapped the Function Keys around. where you actually have to press Fn if you want to use F8 or something like that. But as far as accessibility goes seems fine. Very nice size keyboard with number pad. Perfect placement of the trackpad. Always hated how Acer moved the trackpad right on your left palm. Speakers are alright. Nothing too extravagant.

I might be the minority but i love Windows 8 on this machine. It may be more for tablet but i also like it on the laptop. I've used it before (Release candidate and beta form as well) so I had no problem adjusting.

So far so good as far as boot time goes. haven't seen anything slow to be honest. We'll see later on in the future.

Cons: Battery. Max charged gives you about 2 hours of juice. that's just bad. But i don't plan to go without my charger but still.
The 4GB of ram installed. not the best. I plan to swap them out for some 8GB memory later down the line.
Bloatware - There's a bit too much on this laptop. i had to do some pruning

The hard drive is slow but I don't really have an issue with that. Don't really plan to do much gaming on this machine anyways. the Graphics card in this machine isn't that great anyways.

Not really a con but my opinion of the design of the brushed look of the laptop is meh. not very good. and it's plastic. Textured trackpad and bumpy buttons in it. I already bought a wireless mouse anyways.

Other Thoughts: I have an Acer laptop and a different Toshiba with an AMD CPU and GPU. i think this one outperforms them thanks to the 3rd gen i5 processor. This laptop is a good laptop for anyone who plans to buy one in the future.

Good price if you aren't the type that want to fiddle around with changing RAM and/or HDD and such.

The USB port on the left side of this laptop was hard to get the wireless adapter in. it didn't affect my rating but just something i wanted to mention about MY laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsYay!

Pros: Beautiful! This laptop is perfect for my gaming needs and is only second to a desktop. I was stuck between this one and another one that was on this site, but I'm glad with my choice. I ended up getting a 4GB Vengeance RAM to boost the speed a little. Works like a charm! This laptop is also VERY quiet! Awesome buy.

Another good note, delivery was speedy! It only took two days to arrive.

Cons: Not really a con, but I'm new to Windows 8 and am somewhat confused on how to maneuver my way through it.

Other Thoughts: Note to potential buyers- this laptop is 'long', it's thinner in comparison to my old one but it is significantly wider with the screen it has, something I didn't really expect but it's perfectly fine with me. If you're wanting a more travel friendly laptop, this probably isn't for you. I'm sort of terrified to stick it in my laptop bag....

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Computer for the Price!

Pros: This computer packs 2gb of Dedicated Video Memory perfect for gaming. It plays World of Warcraft Perfect/Call of Duty perfectly.

This computer is perfect value for the money. I give it 5 Eggs!

Cons: I don't have anything negative to say about this computer.

Other Thoughts: I put this in other thoughts because it may not be a negative to some people, and it is more preference than anything.

The only thing I didn't like about this computer is the fact that it came with Windows 8. Now I am not anti Microsoft, I actually like using XP and Windows 7.

I just don't care for Windows 8, and Metro. To me Windows 8 is more like a tablet OS and if I wanted a tablet I would have bought a tablet. Had they loaded Windows 7 on it I would have used it instead of Linux. I put Linux on it with WineHQ and it plays all my windows games and software perfectly.

I spent an extra $100 bucks and upgraded the memory to 16 gigs.
