4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plays every game I've thrown at it so far, looks nice, 1-3 sec to login screen, Great audio, beautiful screen, 4 usb 3.0 ports, quality blu-ray hardware, awesome back-lit keyboard/buttons, easy disassembly, eco-mode works great if you're not the best at manipulating the settings in the power menu. Does everything it says it does

Cons: Only 1 hdmi port, the mesh over the built in speakers just absorbs dust, built in cam could be better, no rubber lid stops, track-pad layout is awful, gets hot if you use it in complete disregard that it's a laptop and not a fully vented desktop though they could've taken ideas from asus and alienware and their laptop airflow solutions.

Other Thoughts: I see lot of reviews that rate down the PRODUCT when customer service falls through which is not what they bought, also if you rate it down for battery life you're obviously used to low power i3's and silly amd things, this is a GAMING laptop, not a silly little college netbook. And don't rate it down for the OS either, bunch of spoiled little things because you don't like it, it clearly states windows 8 so theres no reason to mention it sucks. You rate it by how it performs and hardware malfunctions go under OTHER since that was not part of the design. And heat, you can write down that it gets hot, but mine only heat crashes because Battlefield 4 likes to run the cpu at 150% to load the map in 3 seconds and its spikes from 60 to 100 in about 3 seconds which is DICE's fault and thats only happened 3 times for me, prop that sucker up so its not sitting in its own heat and adjust the graphcs settings within it's capabilities and it'll never crash.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful Notebook

Pros: Beautiful case and much lighter than I expected. Blazing fast and able to handle running Photoshop Lightroom with ease, no bogging or display latency. I am not a gamer, I just wanted a powerful machine to edit RAW files. Note that once you get the display calibrated it shows 95% of the sRGB spectrum.

Cons: The power brick is just that, a huge and oversized brick. Windows 8 is terrible, just install Classic Shell and Windows 8 works just like Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I have had ZERO over heating problems, but I am also not a gamer. This is a gorgeous, fast and powerful machine. It feels solid and I am very pleased with this purchase once I installed Classic Shell to make Windows 8 easier to use.

4 out of 5 eggs*UPDATE* on the repair

Pros: just under three weeks the entire motherboard was replaced free under warranty and given back to me in perfect working order.

Cons: Not he GRX card per say the board just stopped being powered with no indicators of what chip or circuit was damaged according to the tech at Pearl Computers.

Other Thoughts: I must consider an extended warranty for this unit which originally I refused.

1 out of 5 eggsShame on Newegg

Pros: Great laptop for price

Cons: Was sold a previously opened and used laptop at full price. The package had 2 Toshiba seals on it. One was cut open with another new seal placed over it. The back screw on the access panel had shown some signs of being worn. Dissappointed with Newegg on this transaction. They are giving me a full refund, but should not sold me a used laptop. Will not buy another laptop from them again!

1 out of 5 eggsPoof!

Pros: pretty fast, decent ssd, great screen, quiet. local repair shop can do warranty work, company is responsive to calls

Cons: at thirty days it overheated once, crashed, then never came back on. Its in the shop. Soldered on GRX card is an issue since its this card that overheats and renders the laptop "powerless" and useless. No warnings or blips, just instant dead with no backup. Lid only opens to 145 degrees so it does not sit on a stand properly, needs to sit flat.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on power computing it looks like you are in for a lot of downtime due to frying electronics and long repair times. You will eventually run out of warranty and game over. NOT a choice for secure computing, business computing, or gaming for sure (whats left?). As Buster Poindexter said she runs too HOT HOT HOT.

5 out of 5 eggsUnder Rated

Pros: -Sleak
-Toshiba Reliability
-Excellent Deal
-Sound
-Bright Display

Cons: -Lack of GPU options
-Battery Life, though is improved from other models

Other Thoughts: First, you shouldn't EVER overclock a laptop. Laptops are designed to dissipate a specific amount of heat, and if you over clock, you wreck the original design intent.

Second, I've had Windows 8 since it came out. Seriously people... it works just fine. Take 2 days to get used to the new UI, OR just change it back to classic with free programs (this is Windows we're talking about, not a Mac... you CAN change it). It is more stable than Windows 7, has better backwards compatibility (for you retro gamers), runs multiple monitors better, manages memory better, and has faster response to application changes than any previous Windows OS.

3 out of 5 eggsBlazing fast gaming laptop

Pros: This computer can replace most peoples desktop PC's when it come to gaming. This laptop can play Far Cry 3 on nearly max'ed settings and still achieve greater than 30 FPS. The SSD drive is a great addition. If I would have known the difference it makes in nearly every aspect of this laptop, I would have bought one long ago. If you are a gamer that wants a portable gaming solution, this is a great buy but it does have it's drawbacks.

Cons: For all my love of the power this laptop has, there is a love hate relationship.
- laptop can boil water on the lower right side when the graphics card is being used
- The computer gets very warm even when looking at the internet or watching a movie.
- Toshiba custormer support SUCKS!!!! I submitted a question to customer support 4 weeks ago and still haven't heard from them although, you can pay a nominal fee for their support service.
- Toshiba has proprietary drivers. You can not go to the NVIDIA website and download the latest drivers for your graphics card. You must wait for Toshiba to release them and they suck on updating drivers based on all the research I did after the fact. Never thought about that before buying. My previous laptop allows manufacture drivers and I'm sure there are others that do as well. A gaming laptop needs to be able to get the most current drivers for optimal performance.
- The backlit keyboard has two settings. It is extremely bright or completely off. No way to dim the keyboard like my previous laptop. This is especially bad at night since the keyboard can light a room.
- Comes with Windows 8 and it is impossible to downgrade even if purchase Win 7. They only produce "proprietary drivers" for win 8 on this. If you like win 8 then no issue.

Other Thoughts: This laptop excels in sheer brute force power but the horrible support from Toshiba and proprietary drivers is why I have given this 3 stars. It does everything I wanted in a gaming laptop but I can not overlook the locked drivers, horrible business practice of charging for their support and the small things. I recommend looking at other brands that are more costumer friendly and provide the little details such as being able to dim the backlit keyboard. I almost bought another brand with nearly same specs. I kick myself everyday for not doing it.
