1 out of 5 eggsVery poorly made machine

Pros: Worked well for about a month

Cons: - Hard Drive failed within a year
- Basic programs seem intensive on the CPU

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this if you don't want to waste your money.

1 out of 5 eggsBad unit?

Pros: Loud speakers
Comfortable keyboard

Cons: 1. SLOW!
I don't know if it's the energy efficient CPU that's slowing the system down, but my goodness it's a slow PC.
Initially I thought it was the bloatware that came preinstalled, but even after thoroughly cleaning up the laptop via a Windows reinstall, I still get abysmally slow start up times.
If I'm not working on any documents, I only have the recycle bin on the desktop, and I never run any programs in the background other than MS Security Essentials, Flux, Dropbox, and Nvidia & Intel control panels (no Skype, Spotify, iTunes, etc.). Even then, the computer takes at least 5 minutes to load everything after logging in (I've already gone through and disabled non-essentials with msconfig).
And don't even get started on multitasking. If I scroll up or down in Word, the YouTube music video I'm listening to starts stuttering--it's like I'm a DJ! (I don't want to be a DJ, Toshiba!)
I don't even want to think about what might happen if I install a game on this machine.

2. Screen is way too wide. Toshiba has taken this widescreen craze too far. I feel like I'm looking through a slit at a wider monitor.

Other Thoughts: I really hope this is a bad unit--maybe one of the RAM sticks is bad or HDD isn't connected properly. The build quality seems sturdy, and the keyboard layout isn't bad. Nevertheless, I'd say save yourself the trouble and buy something else.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Laptop

Pros: Lightweight

Cons: This is the first laptop that I have ever owned that died twice in a 3 month period. The first one died 3 weeks after I bought it. Now two months after being replaced it dies again. I am concerned due to the fact that despite being a loyal customer for 10 years that I am going to not get a replacement. If I do not get a replacement then it will be the last time I buy from Newegg. I will have been a 10 year loyal customer but I will be a customer no longer if the products they sell do not live up to the expectation of not dying before at least a year.

Other Thoughts: I am so angry right now. I have not backed up the laptop as I usually back up my laptops every 3 months and I had planned on backing it up next week. Had I known it was not a good product and would die before 3 months I would have backed up every week.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Computer Ever

Pros: lightweight

Cons: It dies. I had one for a few weeks. it crashed. It was replaced, now two months later it won't power on again. All my data is gone...I know I should have backed up the data I usually do that every 3 months. Now I will probably be told it is not covered under warranty. I have had a few laptops over the years, but never had one die in less that 3 years let alone one type die twice in 3 months time. I am hoping Newegg will work with me since I have been a loyal customer for about 10 years.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat laptop!

Pros: I bought this for a basic gaming laptop and it worked out great! You can play just about anything on high settings (Battlefield 3 multiplayer played great on high with no lag). Also, the laptop keeps pretty cool even while playing games. Speakers are great as well. Very lightweight, I like the back-lit keyboard, webcam is decent,

Cons: I haven't had any complaints or problems so far with this laptop except a minor one with the mouse pad (not a huge deal). There is no scroll option with it, so I have to use the arrow keys to scroll when I don't have a mouse with me. Also, the buttons on it (left and right-click) don't seem to want to work that well. You have to push down really hard sometimes and even then, it's only a guess if it will work or not.

3 out of 5 eggsOddest hardware flaw...?

Pros: The graphics card and the CPU don't get very hot, only about 75c at max, games play great without AA, wireless card has good range. Backlit keyboard is fantastic. Has an option to return the laptop to factory settings and wipe all personal files. Plenty of ram and storage space for most people.

Cons: This was sooner than I expected, but here's that 2nd review. Wireless card derped. It connects to the internet, it downloads things fine, it uploads fine. But MMOs will not play. Blacklight Retribution, Phantasy Star Online 2 and PlanetSide 2 all cannot connect to their respective servers. This of course, was after a week of no problems and them playing just fine.

Thinking that HAD to be a software flaw, I reinstalled the games, one after another. They still don't work. Maybe something else was wrong. I made firewall exceptions for the games. Nada. I take off the firewall and all antivirus measures. Zilch.

I reset the laptop to its factory settings. Surely anything I had installed that may have messed with it will be gone now, I even did the complete personal file wipe.

Didn't work. MMOs are still a no go.

So I reinstalled the drivers straight from Toshiba's website. Still nothing. It has to be the games right? So I hook up an ethernet cord and check it out if the games still won't connect. They connect. And play great.

Was all wireless not going to work? I grab my Rosewill USB Wifi adapter. MMOs connect.

Maybe it was just my network or router? I take the laptop down to my local fast food place and try logging in from there. Still no MMOs.

STRANGE. I download Dead Space 3. Game downloads with no issues and plays fine. Hmm. I upload photos to imageshack. They're fine. I stream video and check e-mail. No issues. Built in Wifi, for some odd reason, just decided certain games would not work any longer on it.

This is the first thing time I've ever experienced such a phenomena.

Other Thoughts: Laptop plays nice with everything else I throw at it. Just one day decided it didn't want me to have access to my online gaming addictions.

Surely, SURELY it has to be some kind of hardware bug, I can't fathom anything else. I've sent it back to Newegg and they say they have to test it before I get a replacement, so here's hoping they see what I see.

Again, I will make another review once I receive a new laptop and a few months has gone by. Hard to give this laptop a bad score over such an odd flaw. Everything else about it works great.

4 out of 5 eggsYou've been warned

Pros: This is my second laptop with a dedicated video card, my first being an Acer V5-552G-X414.

Compared to AMD's top of the line A10-5757m, Intel's i5-3337u is a tad quicker in single threaded apps and a tad slower when anything uses four cores, but overall the perceived experience is roughly the same- a relatively quick and responsive system. It does a fine job for most multimedia applications, gaming included. For longer battery life, the iGPU works well at low settings in many games,

I love the back lit LED keyboard, it truly helps making typing or gaming at night so much easier. The keyboard itself is also nice and feels responsive. The speakers are adequate, but I do wish it was 4 speakers instead of 2.

The built in Nvidia graphics card is both the high point and low point of this review. The good: It'll let you play recent games at reduced settings and many older games at medium to high. It stays around 70c and has Nvidia's GPU boost 2.0- it turbos as high as 1058mhz, and usually stays there, save for when a game just doesn't demand the performance.

The construction isn't premium, but it is solid, I don't foresee any weird cracking problems in the future, but I will update with a new review after a few months.

Cons: Now the bad part: This is the absolute worst version of the GT 740m graphics out there. It is the GK208 chip with the 64-bit memory bus and it uses DDR3 memory. This card is incredibly bandwidth starved and performance drops are HUGE with any kind of anti-aliasing turned on. You're going to be playing all your games without any AA. It truly is a crying shame this didn't come with 1gb of GDDR5 instead of 2gb of DDR3. I mean seriously, what game is going to use 2gb of DDR3 on a 64-it bus? High clock rates cannot save this card as the cores are constantly starved. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Compared to Radeon 8750m, this card is slower and closer to performance of AMD's 8650g integrated graphics. No joke.

Oh, and all the heat is vented out the right side, right where my hand and mouse sit, and it get's very hot on the right side of the laptop. Sure everything inside is within acceptable temperatures, but that doesn't mean I'm designed to take that kind of heat.

Other Thoughts: Yes, I'm VERY critical of the graphics, I thought for sure I'd be getting 128-bit bus to go with the DDR3 graphics memory, but that's my fault for not doing the research. Overall it games nicely, but if you need a cheap gaming laptop, go with the Acer with the 8750m. The CPUs are very close in power, but the AMD graphics are superior to this iteration of Nvidia's GT 740m, to the tune of about 15% faster. Not sure what they were thinking when they made this video card.

Overall I am happy with this laptop, do not get me wrong, it works great. Just know what you're getting and do your research, unless you want to learn my lesson the way I did- the hard way.
